So, when do we get to put jester hats on our mechs? Hilarious! :P

You know... I just did some math (which is rare for me, so it's likely off a bit)... but roughly $32 for a Mech? 7100 MCs is steep... I know... I bought my Founder's and Phoenix packages... but for a single Mech? Here I thought I was just crazy... but that's almost full retail price for a pay-to-play game... :P
Hero formula has always been 75 mc per ton.

Does not change the fact that this game is a little expencive for those who choose to support it. I've spent, oh I'm not sure, 140-150$ so far, but when all collors set me back 200$ I'm like, meh, for real. I get to little for the dollar I spend.

Yes, free to play will need someone to pay, but as I wrote in this post
http://mwomercs.com/...er-revardbonus/
at some point one start to think we get to little back for that support, and a loyality revard/bonus for those who use more than others should be considered.

While I hate the paint job and don't care for the name, I do appreciate the history note. This legend is new to me and as in most situations where everyone involved is long dead I find it difficult to believe anyone can actually get offended over it. FurthermoreI fail to understand how someone who was sold as a slave (in Cinderella fashion) and proclaimed dead, then GIFTED to said enemy can be considered a traitor for serving her new master. Why not blame the damned slavers? Or simply leave it be with Cortez. Are victims just easier?

For the record, should my hero spider make its eventual appearance wearing a Benedict Arnold theme I'll laugh and buy it anyway

The Hero assault mechs also have huge XL engines. Consider the AS7-K at 5480MC ($22), or the ON1-M at 4290MC ($17), which include no custom paintjob or CB bonuses.

Also compare the CDA-3M (2840MC/$11) to the Hero X-5 (3000MC/$12)- they come with 320XL and 33XL engines, respectively.

I'm sure of that too. But a lot of ppl only spend a few $ on collors, and are happy with that. No problems if things are a little costly for them, PGI gotta earn something to continue development of this game.

BUT, those of us who spend a little more, like 100$ or more, we should still be revarded extra. 100$ should give all collors for example, 150$ all patterns, and so on...

But, this discussion belongs in the thread I linked to a few post back :P

I don't buy ANYTHING unless its 50% off, standard prices are nuts. *pets discounted Protector*

That being said I dont see the 'custom paint jobs' of hero mechs as a upside, sense we are STUCK with the damn things.

WTB more camos for hero mechs, literally.

...Except that the mech isn't called "La Llorona", a ghost indeed parallel to a Banshee, but who has several folk tale-identities, of which Malintzin is but one interpretation. It's clearly called "La Malinche" - after an actual and very controversial person. Perhaps there were some well-meaning intentions...

Agreed. If they just called it "La Llorona" the connection to the Banshee would have been more obvious, more people could pronounce it, and this thread could have been a page or 2 shorter.
Instead, they go with an obscure version of La Llorona that I've never heard of.

^^ I think we should make fun of it, to make the best of it.
Maybe your friends could come up with their own nickname for it... "Mezcal" "La Borracha" "El Gringomech"!
Whistle the tune to "El Buen, El Malo, y El Feo" when you see one. Clearly, this is "El Feo".
Or make a game: Keep score of how many Gringomechs you each kill.

But, PGI is notorious for sticking with bad decisions and ignoring feedback on how to do better. (Like UI 2.0... All they have to do is roll it back.)
They aren't going to correct themselves on this, either.

I wonder if they're convinced that "any publicity is good publicity" and stir people up on purpose.

I actually kind of like the fact the Banshee is based off older line art of the mech. But the standard variants seem to out class the Hero mech a bit too much.

The standard variants have 8 - 10 weapon hard points while the La Malinche only has 6. I'd like to see the Hero have 1 more Ballistic in the LT

this is art of the BNC-1E Banshee which is considered obsoleted and extinct in the timeline.

I refute your claim that the pictured model is in anyway relevant to the art in question, and impose a even more wicked banshee done by Bishop Steiner.

howbout you rethink yours. Using a chinese mech with a japanese flag paintjob is highly offensive because historically U.S Americans have bundled up all asians as being "the same".

And La Malinche actually DOES alienate some of my mexican friends that play this game. they feel awkward every time they see one in a match.

The Yen Lo Wang is out of battletech lore and the red sun pattern had nothing to do with the Imperial Japanese flag of ancient (in the lore) earth. Since the hero mech "La Malinche" was an artistic play on the traditional Banshee (but maybe La Llorona would have been less cryptic), I am quite sure that PGI did not intend to insult any Aztecs, or Mexicans. Some people just want to be perpetual victims and make an offense out if something that is not. And by the way, your implication that "US Americans, bundle up all Asians as the same" seems to be a bit "racist" too (using your logic).

If it makes any one feel any better,, I just pretend All the other mechs shooting at me are evil Capitalists Pigs Bent on Shoving Their Futuristic Neo Conservatism down my throat...

But anyways,,,,

I can see how the name could offend some people,, But it has also brought a interesting Narrative in to the discussion.

I enjoy history and it is always interesting to learn something new...

As a Mexican. Not offended. Though I read through the thread before posting. It's nice to see something from Mexico's culture.

Even so. I don't like slow mechs. And even less so when they're 7,125 MC. ;p
