I actually kind of like the fact the Banshee is based off older line art of the mech. But the standard variants seem to out class the Hero mech a bit too much.

The standard variants have 8 - 10 weapon hard points while the La Malinche only has 6. I'd like to see the Hero have 1 more Ballistic in the LT

of course you would, but you're not getting it. assault have enough firepower without being AC/20 boats... least until we get the Mauler, Devastator and King Crab, which are SUPPOSED to. just wait for them.

As a Mexican. Not offended. Though I read through the thread before posting. It's nice to see something from Mexico's culture.

Even so. I don't like slow mechs. And even less so when they're 7,125 MC. ;p

The Boar's Head also has a very Southwest / Mexican pattern on it, but not a back story to go along with it.

I think I found my hero variant after some tweaking.

And by the way, your implication that "US Americans, bundle up all Asians as the same" seems to be a bit "racist" too (using your logic).

howbout you rethink yours. Using a chinese mech with a japanese flag paintjob is highly offensive because historically U.S Americans have bundled up all asians as being "the same".

As a Chinese who is born and living in a country invaded by Imperial Japan during WWII and have family members suffered at their brutality.
I thank you for your well meaning concern but I think you are over-blowing this issue.
Yes, I own a YLW.

And La Malinche actually DOES alienate some of my mexican friends that play this game. they feel awkward every time they see one in a match.

I feel awkward every time I have to shot at the Sarah Jenner due to what it represent, even thought I own one myself.
Yet Im still here playing this game not because of it's political/culture/social implications but because it is a damn fun game.

Okay, I joined Liao because Im Chinese.

for your money you get an extra 40 degrees of torso twist and arm mounted weapons. seems like a good trade off for the extra slots that can only shoot where you look.

also:
LA MALINCHE
40 pt alpha anyone?

Perhaps they should have gone with the obvious "Montezuma's Revenge". Of course I guess that could offend some people with bowels.

It's also ironic that your sig says "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD"...

Presumably you are intended to fire either the long range ppcs or the short range laser arsenal.

Also, it is completely ridiculous that this thread has degenerated into a race discussion as it has.

I think that's a perfectly good name for it (or just "Montezuma") and it's too bad PGI didn't think of it.

Does, too! It has a backstory in one of the Technical Readout's, in the anecdotes about notable pilots. I thought that story was on sarna.net, but I can't find it there now.

I did find it on the ngng forum, courtesy of "Hans Von Lohman":
"...from the lore of the 3025 Technical Readout (the original book, the one with the Marauder on the cover).

Notable Mechwarriors:
Mechwarrior Rodney Van Kleven

A member of the elite 6th Syrtis Fusiliers, Rodney Van Kleven is an aristocrat with the instincts of a democrat. Extremely personable, he is well-liked by everyone from fellow MechWarriors to the lowliest ship's cook.

On the battlefield, Van Kleven uses his Atlas, which he calls the Boar's Head, like a 100-ton scout. He stomps all over the field, creating general terror in the enemy lines and almost always overheating his 'Mech. He has won several land grants, but quickly loses the titles when his 'Mech overheats and shuts down on the battlefield."

That blurb doesn't say anything about a custom paint scheme, but the mech in MW:O has a boar's skull painted on it to go with the name.

That is because people are doing their best to be insulted and offended it seams. In particular americans and musslims, in danger of being rasist here, but there you go.

That is an ugly mech. What happened to the skull face for the Banshee? The head looks like the Victor or Kintaro.

For those of you unable to see the grin. Here, look harder.

For some reason it's noming on a laser mount, and that does obfuscate it a bit. Also, it seems to have a mouth full of metal like Doctor Doom, but what the hell else did you expect? A giant, gaping hole directly under the cockpit?

That's because America is plagued with a hypersensitive culture that leaps at every chance they get to call "racist" and make a big deal out of EVERYTHING.

That music! THAT MUSIC! :D

Credit where credit is due: The music is my favorite thing about the video.
My favorite thing about the paint job would be the skulls on the legs, which remind me of Dia de los Muertos.
And, as one friend of mine pointed out, "It looks like a fiesta when it fires!"

Well La Malinche it's linked in some part to the Aztec myth of La Llorona who is a kind of south American version of the Banshee, hence the name and the paint job wich it's been choose to represent the chosen Mech of the *El guapo*

I wish it would work like the Heavy Metal in that upon a kill, it would scream a blood curdling scream. Between kills it should occasionally cry and moan. Kind of like the witch from L4D2. Might actually buy that... ;)
