Some News:
The Dark Born have now developed a forum tool that can be used to compare a mech build against various role definitions to see if it qualifies for appropriate use in organised team play. It also incorporates the weighting of weapons as appropriate to the role to help pilots best configure weapon use alongside the other characteristics to ensure the Mech will perform as optimal as required for the role. (It is similar to a tool already developed by The Templars)
The standards then allowing confidence and uniformity for organised team play or understanding Mech builds types without having to go into discussion or individual dialouge with every player prior to a drop. And a player can then attempt to configure and use various platforms with the knowledge of whether this applies to using it in a certain role.
The conventions and qualities are all undergoing testing to fine tune and also add in additional information and data that might be useful to piloting mech within role definitions.
Note however that although it may be beneficial for a pilot to use such a tool it is only acting as a guide to influence builds to operate in a certain way. And since some of the roles are more specialised in performance, consideration as to how best to apply them in conjuction with other roles for best applied tactics in a team setting has to be exercised. Though a solo player could use the tool for pug drops or more casual play with others if they prefer to pilot a mech in the manner of one of the role definitions (And tbh some of the roles can be readily applied in this way). However, the idea of standards and roles only really intended to help co-ordinate team interplay and not restrict pilot choice for casual pug play as they prefer.
Various revisions likley to be applied in the future with use as relevant to the Dark Born, but thought other pilots might find this approach (as a concept) of interest to them.
