I am such a jimmy, :)

to tell the truth the only reason i play anymore is too woop up on spikes, beat them without the meta, without the stat counting, and to top it off a code mechbuilding that some might call limited.
My goal is to be the best timmy, like no timmy ever was, to build mechs is my real test, to master them is my cause.

Nothing gets me going like making a mech completely unique and stomping with 500-800 dmg with a build no one in this game has seen, and i dont get beat out of shape when a build doesent work, because i know when they dont work, but i try 5 times harder to make them work before i give,(except the awesome, that mech is so broken, i love it to death and may buy it again but I sold all 3 of mine, which included the pretty baby) and even if i get a build to work, i may not use it if it turns out its what the spikes use. because thats just too met-mainstream for me bro B)
All that being said I love melting timmy's as well.

Give them a try again, running them as nature intended. PPC Awesomes are VERY good against Clan mechs, since the enhanced torso twist will let you spread the clan DoT while you pinpoint down the torso section(s).

I have to say, the only thing I can think of when I read this is what we mean when we talk about someones "Jimmys" here.

Huh, guess I'm a Jonnyy/Timmy crossover. Probably slightly more of a Jonny. Overall I really enjoyed reading the OP, well done!

I want them to work so bad man, i love them in their natural state, in fact i loved ppcs before this game came around, now i cant use them for ****, im beginning to learn them on the jester though.

As for the awesomes... it was with a heavy heart that i did sell them, honestly i think they need hitbox changes. They are simply too easy to hit, torso twist and spread damage all you want, your CT is huge and can easily be hit by anyone. I love this mech, and im so sad to see it go the way of the do do,

I almost always lose at least one ST before I go, and often both of them. You can twist FAST for an assault. I roll the 9M for the zombie factor, not for the engine ability. 3xPPC, 3xMPL will do work at any range, and against Clan mechs you can shoot-and-twist like a madman.

I got one! How about:

That one guy who still uses a Dragon.

He's a team player, he does everything he can to help his buddies out. He's friendly to both his enemies and allies.
(unless critical stupidity happens. He is still human)
He's a god on the battlefield, with perfect aim and positioning on anything that he sets his eyes upon.
Truly, if someone could take on a 12 man alone, it's him.

Too bad he pilots a Dragon.

The White Knight: The Coelacanth of the types. There are a few left here or there, but they've generally morphed into Sandpits :).

Or Bishop Steiners.

Great post!

I am definitely a Timmy when dropping solo, a mix of Timmy/Johnny when dropping with my Star/Clanmates and Johnny in competitive or Zellbrigen drops

What about Vorthos..?

Indeed! That is quite a big part of my gamer identity, especially in BT games.

That's where you get guys like CWDG and other roleplayers forming lore-appropriate units. Also, as is stated in said article, completely unrelated to one's Timmyness or Spikeosity

Well, i know them a bit (as they were previously part of our unit..) and i would say they are more competitive, more Spikes :D

Instead, i would say we have very different players but my opinion is that we have a prevalence of Jhonnies rather than Spikes.

Play to win.. On your own terms! Beat the META! These are my own mottos.

Indeed, as a Clan MechWarrior, i do not want to lower myself to the meta builds used by IS units. I find hilarious how Spikes want to show their mastery.. With a Jumpsniper. Easier to use than a missile boat.

A true Spike should strive to show his mastery with "sub-par" chassis like Awesome, Dragon, Hunchback etc. with any build different from the typical meta configurations.

Heh...three CNC Vixens, each with 2/2/1 pilot and IT gear equipped, backed by a Sylph VTOL battle armor for snatching VC3 and a pile of ATVs calculated out to precisely 600 points to base things with.

Which of the three-headed Hydra's three heads do you kill first? Doesn't matter - whatever does the killing is two PPC Capacitor hits away from being dead itself :D People HATED that army, man...

I miss that game I played mostly jade falcon though I did abuse the hell out of Yami Shiro and some infantry for a while. I was also known for my critical missing against everything using malvina hazen and black rose, 13 targeting against 16 defense yup I could consistently miss that.

Did you try abusing the starter set Jade Hawk Jade Falcon DFA? Turned quite a few heads the first time I did it.

na other people did that was definitely shocking but everyone I saw try it would get one nice attack in then get pummeled. I typically played Jade falcon pure with no mercs though if my Best friend was there using his Steel wolf Arrow IV launchers I would include my own just so I wouldn't be forced into pushing myself to death. we usually would both agree not to use artillery.

Well as I see it we can't have nice arguments because most people are loudly aggressively wrong and cannot admit any sort fault in their 'arguments' or generally even concede a good point. And when they aren't wrong they are smug and dismissive, this in turn makes me contrary and hostile. This (being internet forums) is a black hole of logical fallacy, rhetorical nonsense, and the worst kind of sophistry.

We can't have nice discussions because this is the internet and apparently the concept of reasoned discourse has as much place here as a prop on a jet engine, i mean it sounds cool but it'll just break as soon as you get up to speed. Painting categories for people to file them in is a bit of a futile gesture because misunderstanding isn't the issue, ego + anonymity is.
