People asked for the FLPPD mechanic of PPCs and Gauss to be disrupted, and now they are mad that Gauss Rifles are better than PPCs at long-range combat [PPCs are now less effective at Gauss ranges].
People said the Clan ERLL was to powerful and Clanners had the ultimate Long-Range advantage, and now they're all mad that Clanners are losing the long-range advantage derived from a single weapon system.
People claimed that the Clan ERLL would be the bnext ultimate game-pwning weapon once the Gauss + ERPPC combo was disrupted, and now that it isn't the case people are upset.
All I can say is that there are many weapons in this game. If your "favorite" weapon is nerfed because it was better than it should have been, then maybe you should try using other weapons that require more skill to play with?
We can't all be using Halo 1 pistols all the time, you now.

Just running a few numbers on cERLL first... specifically on Ghost Heat. Based on the formula:
Number of ERLLs - Calculation - Result
1 - 9.00; 2 - 26.64; 3 - 46.44
4 - 68.4; 5 - 93.6; 6 - 118.8
5 cERLL is comparable to 4 ERPPC's 92.4.
The two-second beam will require a strategic shift up close - since all that beam time is non-heat-sinking time on top of the ghost heat.
Question: is the Clan ER Large Laser also being delinked from the other Large Lasers because of this change? No other group (so far) has a linked group with a mismatched number of safe weapons.

As for the PPC changes:
-I thought PPC/10 was preferred over PPC/GR for poptarts anyway?
-I'd suggest using a module for knob-turning, rather than core tweaks. Let people buy into PPC Projectile Speed. (Hey, new Weapon Module idea!)
-The nerf will be of some help to Light 'Mechs, slightly reducing the amount of Pinpoint they have to face; and any good news for lights is good news indeed.
I look forward to trying out the changes tomorrow. Maybe my tune will change in tone once it's in my hands.

Flat out nerfing it in a blanket fashion but just handing a range bonus as a consolation prize is madness and transparent.
Playing with the Gauss cannon even further after you've already forced pilots to alter strategy and adapt to using it successfully is a slap in the face. Every time a gang of pilots master a weapon and it's changes to their strategic benefit, going and switching it up again because a few people just can't make the cut is an insult to the players who grind hard to learn and the novice that doesn't want their mechs made out of Playskool blocks and Slinkies...altering the weps tech for people who think the temp is a few degrees too high or low in the house at bedtime has become a farce and the use of the word "balance" is losing it's luster...
If it takes more time to make this happen the right way, then take it and I promise we'll love you for it. All people who like 3rd person and want to play in arcade mode "for fun" too bad. Go pick up your xbox/ps3 controller in the meantime...as this game progresses into CW, we already know that minority will fade and serious players will more than keep this game alive...children will become adults and know that you either stop whining about LRM rain and find cover strategically or go rack up 100+ lives in Super Mario if that makes you feel better...
It is impossible to please everyone. People will cry. They will whine. Later on, they will whine and cry again.

ERPPC speed was never the issue anyone who thinks PPC's were effective beyond 1000 Meters is sorely mis-informed. Just reduce the effective range and a small speed nerf but not 50%. and the clan ER LRG nerf is ridiculous 2 full seconds really and then go and mess with ghost heat, the problem isn't fire multiple together the problem is that it produces too little heat for the damage the CLAN ERLRG produces less heat per shot than the IS ERLRG.... thats the problem just increase the base heat value not the ghost heat value.
my interpretation of PGI's solution to fixing problems.
1) The pipe in the bathroom is leaking
2) the pipe can't be bad so it must be a problem with the water heater, turn off the water heater...
3) now I can't get any hot water but it can't be the because i turned the heater off it must be the water pump, turn off water pump...
4) now i have no water but that can't be the reason I have no water, call a plumber to come fix the problem....
5) plumber doesn't tell us what we want to hear so we fire the plumber
6) the house is unlivable so we sell the house and move to a new house.....
Anyone else feel the same way????

Honestly, the only place the PPC is better than the guass now is short range ( and even then a good guass user mitigates that. The problem with the CERLL nerfs is not that it was nerfed, but that it was nerfed pretty substantially in almost every single way. I don't use CERLLs and still think it was far too much.
