There's only usually 50-100 people playing this game at once worldwide...you're lucky to play anyone at all.

I do often recognize names throughtout the night, but there just has to be more then 100 players. There is no way the population could be that low. Although we don't have the amount of people on the server anymore probably because piranha was embarrassed so they had to remove it.

I'm ok with fighting the elite, because no one complains about lop sided matches. There are no people using xvm in world of tanks and complaining about tomatoes. That's what I like most about the playerbase. They complain so much about balance changes and piranha in general that they don't have time to complain about bad players. I can be bad and no one cares!

How many people do you think they have?

Just trying to clarify your definition of alot.

If i had to guess id say 100-125 not sure but i know its more then most and they also seem to have a large core pilot group. Playing daily or close to.

If the population is so healthy why they forcing people to play game modes they dont want to?
Guess there are not enough people to let them play what they want.

Where did you get that from us speculating on how large it actually was?

I dont think anyone said the words you just wrote....dramatic much? Hence why they ARE making changes to things like the MM!?

There are about 8 to 16 thousand active players (playing at least 5 hours a week), of which less than a 1000 are on at the same time outside peak hours.

That is from an inside source that doesn't want to be named.

LOL seriously? The playerbase is that small on this game? No wonder they are charging 55 bucks a mech.....they are probably on the down hill slope unless they really do something to spice this game up and make it more appealing....are those numbers seriously legit? 50-100?

No it isn't that small. If you screen shot your games, record the time between matches and look for repeat appearances by other players in your matches (solo queue) you can actually get a guesstimate of the most probable number of players looking for a match at the same time. If there were only 50 to 100 players ... each game needs 24 and there would be significant overlap between matches forming ... especially when folks from the last match drop into the queue at the same time ... the odds of having several people from your last match would be pretty high. The more players in the queue at the same time you rejoin and the odds drop ...

Sounds legit. Now we have facts guys, please continue the debate based on this concrete evidence.

Honestly that's believable. It might not be true, and with lack of any evidence it's impossible to prove one way or the other, but at least it's the most believable claim in this thread.

It is larger than "2,834.". Lots of players do not opt in. If you look at numbers of things sold like Clan packs etc the player base is probably around 50k.
most won't opt in, as most won't ever look at the forums/website.

Then, of those who do opt in, how many actually can reliably get 130pt games? I get that On The Forums, everyone gets 3 Kills, 20 Assists, and 800 damage per match(even on a loss), but I know a hell of a lot of people who only managed a small handful of bonus earning games if any.

Then you've got the hordes of casual players who only play a handful of matches per day (or per week) - they'd be lucky to score more than 2m tops.

Only a precious few people will get 10m, generally only either very skilled players and/or those with lots of free time.

Also, my understanding and experienced seemed to indicate that the 'qualifying' 130pt games were only counted if your side won.

So... You could be like me and get a 6 kill, 3assist, 839 damage game wouldn't qualify for the bonus because the game didn't end in a victory for my side.

That definitely would curtail your ability to earn the cbill bonus.

Exactly. I had that happen to me a couple times as well, and actually I'm pretty sure I was in the match you're referring to, if it was last night/mining collective.

Normally I don't sweat the big number losses games (at least the pay well) but they where particularly infuriating during the tournament.

I agree, and possibly this hostile attitude is also keeping the playerbase smaller than it otherwise could be, which is really unfortunate. I can't get my friends to play this game cos they all think they're terrible at it (when really it just requires massive quantities of cbills to get the right upgrades, builds and modules to survive an average game).

I was kind of wondering what a Lord was, didn't realise they're a group :D

Congratulations on beating my little brother who is basically new to this game. Very impressive.

As to points about E N E R G Y he is the kind of person who will 1v1 anybody who asks...so feel free to prove your stuff guys :P

Just to point out though...you will get crushed every single time...

Edit: Also I see very few champion mechs when I drop solo.

In a sense, the matchmaker might be better if it adopted a bronze, silver, gold, platinum tier ELO model where players only came into contact with others of their skill level. Then again, it might not because they could form bad habits never having seen skilled pilots in action.

Frankly, I much prefer the old random matchmaker. I did not know what flavors I would get. ;)

Some say that about you too Wisp. But every so often a pesky YLW shows up and stuffs an AC20 in your Jenner's tailpipe....... :P

Also, if your "little brother" qualifies as a Lord, and is new to the game, either he is very good, or your standards are lapsing...so I would say it would be at least decently impressive.

50-100 was being generous...half of those are probably alt accounts of other players. Don't give them any ideas about charging $100+ for mechs!

Uhhhh, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this is faulty information. Otherwise I would see the same players over and over, and I don't. The player base for this game is small, but not that small ;)
