Initially I couldn't bother because I had to work on monday and I only saw the tournament Saturday night. While I was grinding my 20 Victories though, I accidentally landed on the toplist. After cursing IRL, thought that I'd continue the tradition of "if you're going onto that list, you're going to place #1".

In the end I played about 110 games, so roughly 25 hours of grinding this weekend.

5 qualifying wins. Not too shabby, given I only had about 5 hours of playtime over the course of the weekend. Piloted everything in my garage - Stormcrow, Blackjack, Raven, Spider, Ember, Griffin, Shadow Hawk, Treb. Didn't use my Cataphracts since the queue was so overwhelmingly heavy/assault.

Carrying in lights/mediums is hard........seriously, sometimes you and your team chew your way through 3 Direwhales and then you bump into a fourth. They're like those videogame boss rushes that just keep coming....

And then the games where 30s pass and you see a standard Pug deployment pattern....

And the mayhem when I drop and I see names I recognize from comp vids. Sometimes fun, but definitely crazy.

you need to check your score. Mine was 1965 and rank 93 less than 20mins ago. There's no way your 1963 is rank 92 :D

2 valid wins. Given the little time I could spend on the game, that's okay. I had a lot of 120-129 point matches due to kill assists and high damage, so I got enough C-Bills from the match winnings alone. 30% hero bonus stacking with a 50% premium bonus really does the trick. :P Aaand I fell in love with my LB10X-Heavy Metal again! :D
I just wish my exams were finally over so I could play a little more.

Very unhappy. Last tournament I finished 90th in lights, so I wanted to at least equal that while also getting top 300 mediums and getting all 20 valid wins.

164th IS lights (done with a Jenner F)
617th IS mediums (done mostly with a Griffin 1N, some in a Cicada 3M)
15/20 valid wins.

Matchmaking was very favorable to lights, thankfully. So many clumsy direwhales, atlases, and catapaults to park behind and rip to shreds. Oh, and arty strikes if you're going to all huddle together. Not to mention all the LRM boats that couldn't touch me 9 times out of 10. But my personal performance was pretty lacking. I died a lot because I was trying to hard to grab every single assist in every match. Didn't work out. Much better off if I would have let the assists slide and focused on harassing the assaults and more careful scouting. Would have gotten more damage and kills that way and made up the points lost in assists.

Had a hard time with pugs the first two days - never seen so much friendly fire in my life. Even got one shot killed by a teammate boomjager while I was standing still at one point. 4th day the friendly fire was gone but I couldn't win any matches because I wasn't playing safe anymore.

Because the competition seemed easier in the IS mediums (at first), I decided to try out IS mediums. Up until around 10 days ago, I've never played a medium besides trial mechs (Nova) and the free Centurion from back in April. Most never appealed to me. I've been more of a light or heavy pilot. I picked up the Shadow Hawk 2K because I saw one of it's builds was considered to be highly competitive. Boy, it sure was.

I started with the 2K, and eventually settled on the 2H. Both builds would get me 1000+ rounds and averaged somewhere around 2-4 kills (with victories). Here are the two builds I used:

My bread and butter... I modified it with less armor and more ammo however. I removed many a Dire Whale from the game with this little number:

Another versatile and deadly build. I modified mine a bit: a XL315 and extra headsink instead of the XL325 engine specified.

I also want to apologize to any players who endured my really bad rounds and whining. Last night made me kind of angry when I had around 10 losses in a row despite posting several 900-1000+ and 4-6 kill rounds. However, fair is fair, and nothing is fun without adversity.

I also want to congratulate the other guys in the top 15. I encountered many players in the top spots of all categories, and all were stand-up gents.

Fun tournament! Hope to get some rest until the next! :)

Brutal format for clan lights.
I managed to get 20th, but with only 13 "valid" wins.

I'm in the same boat. I consider myself above average, but never capable of the wizardry I've seen some players pull off. 1500+ damage rounds, etc.

My best and only round ever over 1100 was with the Shadow Hawk 2K, at 1150. I don't think I'll ever pull that off again.

With my SHDs 13 wins for C-bills with a full day of gaming.... very frustrating because ELO is the Deus Ex Machina of all matches, also Tournament's matches. Also after a certain hour for me was impossible to win...very frustrating in a Medium between many Heavy and Assaults

This, plus LRM Online..... I build now my first LRM boat.

I forgot to add in my post... Radar Deprivation module is your friend, and should be your first module purchase. I would have had significantly more trouble had I not been using that module for the majority of the tournament.

I also picked up the cooldown and range mod for the AC5 and the cooldown for ERLL. Both gave me a little bit of edge over the competition. Small, but every bit helped once I hit the top 10.

I NEVER leave home without one! have 6 in my garage. So much fun side stepping into cover and watching all the LRMs zoom on by! Just never EVER back up, move sideways. Otherwise you'll still eat LRMs

Six? Really, six? I could see 4, because when community warfare rolls around and we need one of each class... but six? You must be loaded!

I mostly just experienced Conquest lose that very little difference it had from Skirmish. No one capped unless there was nothing else to do. Although that's mostly a problem just made more apparent in this tournament than a problem with the tournament.

I have one in a Raven, 3 in each of my Twolves, one in a Direwhale and one in a Maddog.
All my wave one clan mechs are mastered along with the Raven, Jager and 3 Maddogs.
Trust a woman to know how to save and spend well.

I have one of each mech module, one of each IS weapon range module, and I'm building up my collection of Clan range modules (but only one of each). Oh, and the AMS/Narc modules. One of each.
I swap modules out when I change mechs.

Along with my Jenner statue (usually, not for Heros or Jenners). That way all of my mechs are Jenners when I run 'em.

Well, you got the right module to buy multiples of. It's unquestionably the most useful in pug play. Before it came out, I would just become frustrated when I ran anything without ECM. I'd get annihilated by LRMs and just go right back to running ECM mechs. Now I can finally pick a non-ecm mech without cringing the moment I pop my head up above a hill.

From the result the worst i ever played at place ~750 in the IS Medium weightclass.
I am not in the mood for playing serious hours and have my favourite Mech armed for shortrange (SHD-P 3x SRM4 + AC10).
When i get close i am able to damage and kill but most of the time i don get close...until the enemy comes close to me...

I have no Lurms and play on Caustic,
I have no Lurms and play on Canyon
I have no Lurms and play on Alpine
I have no Lurms and play on Tourmaline
I arm that Lurms and play on River City fine

:D

PS: No range, no Arty, to stubbon to fight like a Smarty :P

I just played in my laser vomit Timberwolf. And I played as usual, except that I usually do not use the TW that often, mostly only one two matches with it before I return to play Nova. This time I used it for an extended period of time.

actually i am placed 717 with only 639 scores in the medium clan bracket, which was probably 4 or 5 wins only. lights and mediums were not used a lot.

while in the clan assault bracket I have 666 points giving me rank 1508. Big difference, but it shows that not that many people actually made even 10 wins with these mechs.
