I started with the 2K, and eventually settled on the 2H. Both builds would get me 1000+ rounds and averaged somewhere around 2-4 kills (with victories). Here are the two builds I used:
My bread and butter... I modified it with less armor and more ammo however. I removed many a Dire Whale from the game with this little number:

http://www.mechspecs...-jj-xl255.3461/

I also want to congratulate the other guys in the top 15. I encountered many players in the top spots of all categories, and all were stand-up gents.

Fun tournament! Hope to get some rest until the next! :)

This was my go to build for most of the tournament, it's impressive and in one match I got 7 kills which was pretty crazy considering my usual average is 1-2 kills and lots of assists. A few of them were Daishis which I was really not expecting to win against but it was late game and maybe I was finishing people off.
I ended up 25th in IS mediums and I'm quite happy with that, I'm a fairly good pilot and got 21 wins total over Saturday and a bit of Sunday (I should've gone to bed on the saturday, I had a run of bad games partly cos I was tired), I was 9th at one point but clearly this game has a lot of good players :D Once I got to 21 good matches I stopped, I didn't want to play any more to try go up in the rankings.
I also played with the Cicada CDA-3M with two med lasers and two large lasers, and the BJ-1X with two large lasers and four med lasers (which I got my last few wins with, I <3 that mech).

Good fun overall and it's nice to know where I rank in things :D

and something else i just noticed during the tourney: my KDR dropped from 1.51 to 1.39. considering i have around 1000 drops and around 800 kills, that's a quite painful weekend

I didn't break 300 points total for any chassis. this thing called "a life" got in the way.

that or horrible teams all weekend. I had so few wins it didn't matter how well I did. ridiculously competitive weekend, I couldn't wait for it to end

Thought I'd quickly cash in the cbills bonus in a Lurm/LL Warhawk but it turned out it took 5 rolfstomp losses to get every win in the assault bracket so I switched to skilling the Maddog instead. There it was more even, but struggled to "tag" enough assists to get the qualified wins in the mostly brawly maddogs. Just played ~2 hours per night, got 9/20 wins before it was getting late yesterday, jumped into the Madcat for a final game immediately got 5 kills, 800 dmg and my 10th win. Good time to call it quits and go to bed with a feeling that at least I didn't try it ezmode. :)

I did great.

Now seriously: my plan was to get as much of the 500k bonuses and break into the top 100 of the heavy leaderboard by playing my 2 LPL + 4 MPL Jester. I could gather 16 valid wins and ended on rank 79 with 1839 points. Which I think is pretty much the optimum you can get in a mech built for quick kills rather than high damage. I will use the 8 Million to build a heavy LRM Mech and see how far I can come with such a thing in the next solo challenge.

Just checked my stats: The W/L on my Jester is 1.44 and it would surprise me if it had been significantly better prior to the challenge so there is even numbers to support that for me there wasn't terrible matchmaker syndrome. Had a lot of great and close matches.

This is exactly the kind of challenge I've been asking for. It's absolutely skill-based. Of course, it's hard to get 130 points when your team is bending over, especially if you're in a support mech. But if you're on the winning team, there's no excuse when you're not the one getting 130 points.

I played far more than I'd care to admit this weekend. Primarily with my Summoner and Warhawk. Sure, it was a bit frustrating to see the DW's and Embers getting top score in match after match. But I'm not complaining. I made my bed and I'm sleeping in it.

In the end, I think I got 8 out of 20 possible. Next time, I probably won't try so hard. Maybe 130 was a bit too hard for the average Joe like me, but I'm not complaining. A 10 million bonus is a lot of dough, so I can see why they didn't want everyone to end up with the full 10.

Levelled my Dashi on Friday had about 7valid wins.
Played laser vomit Madcat Saturday most of the day and Sunday morning to get the 14wins.

Over the weekend it was clear the win was decided by the MM choice of team. Dispute many qualifying games nearly all of my matches were losses this weekend. I think I had a total of 25ish wins the rest of the time was spent loosing I think I was up to 16 straight losses at one point. In the end I gave up trying to claw loosing games back it was better to finish up that match and take my 2nd mech.

Its not hard for me to get constantly into the top 3 pilots in a game but the win is out of my hands you can only carry so much.

This was really.... hard challenge for clan lights. Finished 42 with 12 valid wins for moneys.
Not that I was having that a bad time, matchmaker was... fair, but the ammount of games with 110 or 120 points was really infuriating. And ofcourse, second the challenge finishes I win two matches in a row with ~170 points...

Isn't exacly in this way. MM decides for you, yesterday decides to put me in ELO border limit teams: 95% matches were ROTFLSTOMP. Also when the team wins 12-0 isn't so sure that you have way to do anything. My stats have lost 0,02 in general K/D ratio when I gain 0,01 at day playing only Mediums.

I see the problem, but it's a general issue with the MM and PGI's determination to mix Elo's to reduce waiting time.

The only goal that isn't affected would be something like 'grind 50 victories'. But how fun is that really when you know you were just coming along for the ride in a 12-0 stompwin?

Got my 20 valid wins and finished 61st on the clan medium leaderboard. I spent time in the top 15 on Friday/Saturday but couldn't get to play after that so slipped down the list.

I didn't think I would be anywhere near the top 100, so I'm quite happy with just 2 days work.

Was only going for C-bill bonuses as I already did my token 1 per year tourney during the first faction challenge. Picked up 12 bonuses on Friday, incidentally going to bed in 9th place in Clan assaults. Picked up the last 8 qualifying wins Saturday night, called it a weekend.

I checked after I logged in to post here; turns out the 50 or so games played in Clan assaults to get my 20 bonuses was still good enough for 82nd place in clan assaults, with 2016 points. Basically only played with/against decent and good competitive players and good noncompetitive players.

For player count purposes: played a couple games in TWs, 398 points put me in 2,036th. Because each player can participate in every category, it's hard to say how many folks opted in and played. At least 2,036...

Running almost exclusively my LRM Adder, I finished 27th with 1,831 pts and 15/20. Had about a 60% win rate this weekend.

For those of you interested, I dropped just once as a Clan Heavy, finished 2,944 place. If I recall correctly, that's 500 more participants over last challenge.

thats a general MM and group dynamic problem, most matches are stomps either in the one or the other direction, especially when teams split up and focused firepower meets small groups eating them in no time, then they just rush over one by one. Thats why sticking together is one of the probably most important things inthe PUG which after all that time many still have not lerned yet. And tahts where MM is your luck or doom, you get the newbie Puggers, bad dynamic behavior, you get the more experienced Puggers, decent group dynamic. If both get a decent group or chaotic group matches turn out more balanced. But this seems to be an uncommon setup.

The best match during the whole weekend we had was on caustic, where we first were behind with 3 kills then 2 ahead then it ended with 2 mechs vs 2 mechs and the freaking result or a zombie stalker on their side and a out of ammo summoner on ours. 3 Minutes of trying to ramkill each others. The match went a draw but was by the whole battle the most thrilling. A very earned draw of a real epic match.

Started off in the Jaggers... but after 10 games or so didn't have a single valid win (still learning them and heavy really may not be my thing, need speed to get myself away from bad decisions)

Switched to the ole' reliable Scotch Tape 3M and first game was me another 3m and a whale joking and plodding around river city... and then we made contact with the enemy rear and pretty much took down 5 in about 2 minutes. It was kind of epic.

After that I went 3m all the way had several 2-3 kill games and got 8 valid wins before all was said and done so Free c-bills!

Piloted nothing but Whales for the challenge. Managed to get as high as 64 in Clan Assaults as of Monday morning but probably dropped some by the time things wrapped up. Playing on Sunday was an absolute waste of time. The team that first had some trouble in a match would immediately fold, it was a brutal waste of time really. Friday and Monday were much better days to play.
