That thing is gone for quite the while now. It was disabled shortly after we entered open beta if I recall correctly.

So on average, the remainding players who opted in only managed 3 games where they won and scored over 130 points before giving up.

That's a lot of stomping.

I played Monday night and only had 4 qualifying matches. On a non tournament evening I'd have probably easily gotten 20. It wasn't because of stomps though, match quality seemed to me to be much better overall. It was because the effectiveness of my teammates appeared to be much better than usual. I put it down to all the group queue players coming to slum in the solo queue.

This matches my experience exactly. Matchquality overall was a lot better for me. I wish people would allways leave security aside and go for the kills like on this weekend. I find the wall huging for 6 minutes + that usually goes on greatly dissatisfying.

Me too, which is why I never do it.

LOL - At the common core math comment. Tried to quote it but didn't come through. :(

and that assumes everyone got 10 million. Didn't you need like a 130 match score and a win to get each 500K?

What percentage of MWO players do you think get 130 scores with any regularity. I break 100 pretty often, and have broke 150 a few times, but I would say getting twenty 130 pt outside of comp level players, which are the extreme minority of the playerbase, was not a common occurrence.

That's if I read the scoring right. Which since I only glanced at it friday, I could have wrong.

the numbers, or bad math? ;)

Well, I opted in but was still running mostly stock mechs (only just started upgrading to DHS on this current batch since buying all the cbill mechs). I had 1 130point game so earned an extra 500k. So bump your number by 1. ;)

That many players? Hmm, seems fishy to me, not everyone "opts in" - I sure didn't. Consistent player base? If that were so PGI would be jumping at the chance to revive classic BattleTech in their little game here with the inclusion of Stock Mode. Otherwise you already lost many of us classic players as a 'stat' in your public matching with the monotonous grind.

I must be the worst player in mwo, don't think I won a single thing. How do I check, my challenges page says no active challenges when I looked, but opted in to the show. And yes the solo queue was terribad, you either sinc dropped or lost.

It wasn't a challenge, it was a tournament so it's listed on a different page:

The 130 points wasn't all that difficult, actually.

20 points was a win, which was necessary to get any points at all.

Let's say 2 kills which brings us to 60 points, 5 assists to 110, 400 damage (/15) is ~26 points minus a bit for Team Damage.

That doesn't seem all that hard to get. Even 9 assists and a win is 110 points, with 300 damage that gets you the 130 points needed.

Wins didin't count as 20 points

Did you opt in?

If yes, they would be listed here:

Less than 100k players is bad.

5k players is so bad PGI would be shutting its doors.

Were somewhere between 15k total players, with about 250 on at any given time, with upwards of 750 during peak times, and 30k active players.

Which is abysmal.

What number exactly are you after?

In answer to the question, how many unique players there are in the game total then how many there are daily

The second one is just abject curiosity, the first would put your doomsayers to bed and bolster your faithful

You have to remember, every day is "shop for a publisher" day. Even when IGP was the publisher.

Advertising your player count when its low...is the surefire way to never get picked up.

You have no idea how many total active players MWO has - don't pretend that you do. Best case, you have napkin math based on figures provided from this past weekend.

So using 10K as the number opted in, minus the 900 perfect 10M's, means the remaining people averaged about 1.9 million, so most probably had about 3 matches that made the cut.

I played hard 3 or 4 hours per day last weekend and ended up making 9 mil, 18 matches that made the 130 point cut. I'm a decent medium pilot and it was difficult to get the 9 mil I ended up with.

Russ stated they sold 23k Wave 1 Clan packages in a recent NGNG pod cast. I think that's outstanding and see growth in the community. The 50k player base number is probably pretty accurate, maybe a little low.

The various clues. How many people PGI considered a majority, how many people are on the forums, the founders, how many people left during #savemwo, how many people vote, and how many people participate in the things that let you garner numbers.

That and a gut feeling/observation of alot of games over the years. I can tell when total player count in the solo queue is small because I see the same people game after game. I know what that means globally from other games that have the same issues, or really low valleys in off times that do post their player numbers.

I know the whole "player count" aspect of development well from 11 years in Battleground Europe, that still, hasnt posted their player count since 2001.
