I want this game to be friendly to whomever has money and is willing to spend it on a F2P game. Doesn't matter to me if they are casual or hardcore.

This is basically the hard reality. We need paying players.

This is one of those threads where the OP expected tons of "hell ya!", pats on the back, and likes. Instead he had to slink away never to post in here again.

Kinda cuz he made the OP sound kinda elitist, assholish and filled with much derp....

As a new player that is somewhat casual, this OP is humorous to me. I found MWO listed on TrackIR compatibility list, enjoy sims of all types, and like when they use my "toys" (pc peripherals) properly. I do not have a hardcore fascination with the lore but enjoy the game and am interested in improving my skills (i am terrible...but its really fun). So far, I have spent $350 between MC and purchasing the Masakari Collection since joining. I'm pretty sure my casual interest is as important to the game becoming better as the OP seems to think the hardcore players are. You might want to rethink your position considering only hardcore players reduces the income for PGI and we all know that is really what will drive production, not your desire to or acceptance of grinding. More people, more money, very simple.

I think it's just because we're bored. At this point it's more 'trolling the troll'.

Don't be discouraged by trolls like him. I can only imagine his lifestyle if that's the way he treats people.

Without the casual pumping money into the game you would never have lived to see Clan or CW happen ever. Sorry :(

How big is the player base exactly?

Also what is too small?

All these C-bill posts are making me sick. I don't know what is causing all this sympathy for non-hardcores but I don't want them in the game unless they too will become hardcore in the end.

This game should be about CW and dedicated faction hatred and the roleplaying associated with that.

By letting casuals increase in number I am less likely to see faction appropriate livery and trash talk. That lessens my enjoyment quite a bit.

People who are worried about PGI's bottom line are not correct. You give them money and they don't hire more map guys, they redirect it to failed MechWarrior Tactics or Transverse.

People can speculate all they want about player numbers and how that affects matchmaker but without real data it is pointless and anecdotal.

Noobs/Casuals don't need advocates. They can speak for themselves. This is not a joke thread.
I Don't Want This Game To Be Casual Friendly!

Well I Want This Game To Be Casual Friendly!

First you are basicly saying casual and noobs are the same? Only by that your thread should get locked.
Now everybody were once a casual. YOU were a casual.
DON'T FORGET WHERE YOU STARTED! YOU WERE LIKE THEM TOO BEFORE!

I started a casual too, yet now I have some knowledge of the lore and will fight for my Clan.
BUT that would have happened only because I manage to learn how to play the game and get interested on it because it was at least a bit casual friendly.

Create a non casual friendly game. And you loose your chance to see it survive.

Well maybe they should try some stuff to entice new players to join, stay, enjoy themselves and then maybe pay....

Maybe, an easier learning curve. Easier MM your first 50 battles, against similar new players...that ways its 24 truely clueless players all running around like headless chickens trying to find out what that big red button in the cockpit does... higher payouts initially that fall off over time. Then new players can bank some serious cash, maybe buy a mech, fiddle with it a bit, try different loadouts.....Maybe in that first 50 battles if the player doesnt like what they have, they can sell back for 100% so they can try this, try that and perhaps find a mech they really click with. Then they can grind out and have 1 tricked out mech for when they reach the real world MM. Atleast then they wont be sooooo green they make the Liao insignia look....some other color...

Then, make the Private battle room FREE....why the hell its Premium time only is beyond me.....There is absolutely no benefit for us from it....not game wise, we dont get Cbills, xp or anything from it. Its not unlike WoT's training room, where you can go in and just **** around if you so choose. Gives the newbies a place to kinda play around and get a feel for the game without the pressure of being blown to bits. I really woulda loved such a thing initially.

Improve training grounds so as to maybe make it an actual training grounds type of area, with live bots, maybe when you pick a map you can then pick patrol or live fire, which will decide the stance the mechs will be in.

There is many, many quality of life changes PGI could do that would help player retention.

I can't believe I read or responded to this...

I think I'm just posting so I can read my own post afterwards and be sure that this was a real thread, and hadn't gotten locked/deleted yet... Seriously, highly doubt the OP was serious, very few forumites here are actually that arrogant/dumb, he's likely just trying to incite a colorful thread of rants and raves for his own amusement.

If not, well then we have possibly the least intelligent gamer to ever operate a keyboard, and we should be applauding him for actually figuring out how to successfully post...this is likely a big moment for him.

Playerbase is too small for the Matchmaker too.

Is this game going to just be some "vanity press" thing where it's a toy for a couple thousand people or is it going to be a real game for millions of people? PGI needs to decide this and soon.

I know this much, successful games have millions of players, not just a little club of hardcore fans and their exclusive toy.

I could careless at this point what PGI does with this game even this last event is a joke. Elo is a crock I run with the same names on my alt account I do with my full account. I day 5 account shouldn't be playing with SJR LORDS or any of the comp teams.

Being a SJR or LORDS doesn't mean you're a good pug player.

also your alt account may only be 5 days old, but obviously you aren't.

I love lore.
Ironically enough I always been with a faction against Draconis Combine in my multiplayer experience :)

Clan wolf in mw2 (side note:Clan Wolf was sufficiently impressed by the skill of the Kell Hounds to realize their misconceptions about how easy the coming invasion was and willingly shared their data from these battles with the other Clans so that they could study the Inner Sphere fighting style themselves. Unfortunately for the most part the other Clans were unimpressed and noted only the Spheroids' lack of honor in their fights with Clan Wolf...... was that you, Spheroid?)

LCAF throughout MW3

Black Dragon with mw4

Nice to meet you Spheroid! :)
