ECM should be limited to select chassis. No global proliferation should be allowed (though the chassis that are allowed should be increased).

LRMs are fine and it's about time they were reduced and balanced to lore damage like a lot of other stuff is (LRM and AC20 should be the same potential damage, AC20 is all 20 damage but requires LoS, LRM20 doesn't require LoS so it's damage can vary).

BAP also speeds targeting data, improves sensor range, and lets you target shut-down mechs at close range.

That sounds silly. Why not, at the very least, allow an ECM in counter mode to counter at 360M if it also has BAP installed? Or are there programming barriers to that?

Otherwise, as someone pointed out, that's 3 tons of equipment that's less functional in one aspect than the 1.5 ton version.

Both maps were partially done when they had to stop due to the Clan pack. The next map is a CW only map, since CW needs new, unique maps.

I think its great what your doing to individualize the mech chassis with quirks. But players still will not use the non-meta mechs unless you give them a reason to drop into battles with them.One way which I liked was that non-meta mech chassis assault-lights get a substantial C-bill bonus for using them consistently.

Also more game modes and a few more maps for the solo MM queue would be awesome and promote game growth and retention of your player base I hope your still working on this? Another thing you might look into is the way mech chassis selection in the MM is made for a battle drop. I personally see tons of assaults and heavies and very few mediums or lights per battle.

One way you could fix this by randomizing the MM drop schedule as in what types of mech chassis types drop into a battle like one random would be 3/3/3/3 another 2/2/6/2 or 2/2/4/4.This way not all of the same type mech chassis could be played in a battle.

You could also change the way the drop mechanism works like hit play the MM drops you into a screen that shows you the map & game mode you will be dropping on then pick a mech to play a mech configuration to use from saved configurations in mechlab and then drops you into a battle.

For the group MM situation you might want to start thinking about a replacement as in a chat-lobby-launcher system the older PC MechWarrior games used to promote community growth and the re emergence of community run leagues for 1v1-12v12 Solaris-Planetary and Role Play.

The recent JJ boost and now the PPC buff leave me very concerned the Poptart meta will return and I will once again not play the game for almost a year.

I am not saying the sky is falling, but it made the game unplayable for me.

If we ever completely revamp ECM that is something that will take a fair bit of time after we have completed CW, so in the meantime I am not going to completely ignore any small tweaks we might be able to add.

While I agree that his tone is extremely childish, he does have a point that ECM needs a big change. If you cannot equip it on every mech, like every other piece of equipment in the game, then it is too powerful.

ECM should work more like it does in tabletop - negating the benefits of advanced targeting equipment like Nicolas stated, see http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Ecm - and what we have now is actually a combination of the experimental ECM (Angel ECM) and Stealth Armor like the Null Signature System (http://www.sarna.net...i/Stealth_Armor, which takes up 12 crit slots and builds ten heat while active, btw). Note that, even then, none of those systems actually blocks missile getting a lock - they just given a penalty to hit, which equates in MWO as a delay on lock time.

Yes, but why should it's counter range be reduced when being paired with ECM?

or maybe ECM counter range needs to be increased as well.

Russ, it's already been said in this thread that your DPS/HPS value in the chart needs correcting. Smurfy has it done right, because it factors in Duration in calculating the formula.

Instead of..

Damage/Cooldown = DPS
and
Heat/Cooldown = HPS

It's supposed to be..

Damage/(Cooldown+Duration) = DPS
and
Heat/(Cooldown+Duration) = HPS

Otherwise, you are actually screwing your own math up.

Just remember that you still have to wait for the weapon to spend its time dishing the damage AND then wait for its cooldown. That is why it is calculated as such.

Also...

There's a serious concern with BAP. While I believe ECM is a serious magic jesus box problem, increasing the range to 360m is effectively the range of the Clan Streak weapon. That is a large radius to counter (just like the ECM cloak except almost double in radius). Having BAP's counter range more than doubled is rather significant, so while it may reduce the effectiveness of ECM, it's even worse counterplay to how you've designed ECM. I can understand the need for a buff, but changing it to 240-270m would probably be more appropriate than an insane buff to 360m.

IS LPL, C ERML and C LPL did get range increases, though.

The range right now is 100 meters so I assume it's going from 100 -> 135 meters. I'm not sure why he has 135m in the first chart. So both the IS Small laser and IS Small Pulse Laser appear to be getting a range increase.
