I spent an hour and fifteen minutes last night in prime time US on both Comstar and NGNG TS waiting around doing nothing before I found someone to drop with, and that was just someone I knew from Twitch.
It's great that the community has provided these services for us, but they're contingent on the event being something people actually want to do.

How exactly did I end up playing at 4:45 PM when it's only 9:00AM?
Okay I figured it out, the 'game time' is in a different time zone then PGI. I live in Vancouver so I assumed that it would be the same. But I guess a better question is why is PGI in a different time zone then the 'game time'?
it doesn't shows you local time, it probably does show the UTC time I guess.

I helped, but only a little bit. I sometimes don't feel like dropping with my group because of things like time constraints and wanting to grind a certain weight class (like when we just received the ice ferrets).
I certainly don't feel like I deserve anything from this event, or that the items should be somehow better. I believe the real point to this is helping improve the matchmaker so getting rolled happens less, and helping is a win/win all around.

Idling in teamspeak waiting to be recruited is probably a waste of time. Instead, drop into a solo match and ask if anyone wants to pair up for the group queue event. Out of those 23 people, someone will likely say yes. Add him to your friends list and voila.

Luck is still a lot of it.
Been THE primary target for almost all my games, and there is little to nothing you can do to score well, when you are the first dead.
Out of my first 30-40 games I had about 6 qualify, and out of those, around 3-4 were due to spotting assist bonus from a UAV

Just for comparison to how dramatically different your scores are if you are not playing that way.... 4 kills, 5 assist, and 991 dmg was a score of 202. 2 kills, 9 assist, and 934 dmg was a score of 262. Etc etc.
Felt like I put in decent work by normal scoring standards in a match but apparently it does not hold a candle to a light poking at range equip with a tag in this case.
BTW that is not directing anything negative at you or whatnot. Just using your score example for contrast.
ETA: Correction, put up the wrong score originally. Looking at the wrong screen shot compared to the results in the tournament page.

No offense taken, I know I'm gaming the challenge to get there faster. I'm actually taking a shot at PGI for dropping the points awarded for getting the kill instead of the assist. As I stated in previous challenges with similar formulas:
KILLS SHOULD BE WORTH THE SAME, IF NOT MORE THAN ASSISTS
And Shar, maybe your 8,900ish posts make you a priority target...

The reward scheme from the Halloween Trick or Treat event was about a hundred times more engaging. Getting small randomized rewards after every qualifying game was a much more fun way to approach an event than slogging through a large number of games to meet an arbitrary quota. Instant gratification is fun.
Something I would personally like to see as opposed to cockpit items would be an event where you can win a small number of camo colors (perhaps random basic ones). Other than that, mech bays, c-bills, gxp, and so on are nice.
