I agree the Hollander has no place in this game (specially the lighter chassis).

Hey, who said Coyotl would have limited hardpoints? PGI would need to invent 4 variants (1 of them hero), so the omnipods and hardpoints can be anything.

As medium Clan omni, there is actually no better choice than the Coyotl (the alternatives are the boring Pouncer, uninspired Mongrel, undergunned Phantom and the possibly underwhelming Black Lanner).

I believe it was Gas that along with point out the age of the Coyotl and her being out of production... but hey the freaking Nova is out of production too....

How ever the hard point bit comes from the 2E 2M on the Prime and the 2E 2M on A... granted the second E on the A is mounted in the CT (along with one of the JJ's), means that you could push a 3E 2M or 3M 2E builds... on a mech that would run 121.9km/h post speed tweak and fly almost as well as the Viper isn't bad.

the difference being that the Nova still sees frontline use in ALL Clans, and that they still produce spare parts for them to this day.

Two things the Coyotl cannot remotely claim. Hell, the Coyotl isn't even used in second line forces, currently. An IS Crossbow or Ymir has more of a chance of being seen since at least in a decade of so, both of them will see limtied production and actual use again. Coyotl is a museum piece, a historical footnote that may still have specimens collecting dust in Brian Caches back at the Pentagon.... but even most of those would have been stripped by the Clans of any useful components. "Waste not, want not" being a big part of Clan Culture.

So, while not trying to hate on your pet Omni, just being honest and fair in my assessment of it's "viability" for MWO. Not only is it by lore not available, but PGI would have to make the hell up a lot of variants on top of that to bring it to life. That combination of factors TBH, relegate it to being a poor choice.

Never said she's be a good choice to add, only that she would be a strong 40t omni if she ever did. High-mounts, fast and jumpy could make it a really strong threat.

....

I really need to make my sig "We can't fix stupid."

The Hollander would be next to useless in MWO, it also begs the question would they use the BZK-G series or F series as the base model? As the G series is 35t and the F series is 45t....

I mean for all the times that I hear that my pet Clan Mech (The Coyotl) wouldn't be good due to having limited hard points, often being built around a cLPL or cERPPC, how would the Hollander be any better? It is literally the same thing, but worse since it's built around a weapon system with finite ammo supplies and IS tech....

-sigh- If we were to get something interesting from the Civil War erra, I'd like to see the Templar, lots of interesting variants (with some tech problems, like C3 slaves / Master units and crit splitting in one variant) or the Nightstar as far as assault class mechs go, getting into the mediums (my perfered weight class), we've already got the Bushy... so maybe the Enfield or the Lineholder....

Yeah the Hollander would be the definition of bad. Ok you have your big gun mini mech but it gets shot and crit within 45 seconds of first contact, how is that fun?

But as has been pointed out the Coyotl is in a weird spot. Sadly I'm doubtful it'll make it in game but maybe if it got more popular it would.

I know she's in a weird spot.... ever since I first found it in the Golden Century Digest, then though "Why not" and put it into my Ghost Bear Super Nova Trinary, and I've been impressed with it's consistent performance, often being a threat to much larger mechs thanks to that 7/11 ground speed at an ERPPC... As for the Alpha variant, a 7/11/7 with that deadly accurate LPL is down right mean... did I mention the Alpha variant runs ice cold in TT? My Ghost Bears have dropped the Viper from their lists for the older Coyotl, it's more in line with the Ghost Bear philosophy of "Fast and Shooty!"

Long story short, after running both Vipers and Coyotls in TT, has left me going the only reason that the Coyotl is in mothballs, is to give the Viper a reason to exist in TRO 3050.

Well in MWO at least they'd be pretty different from each other so there is that.

Yea... the Coyotl prime pushing about 15.5t of pod space while being ~16-18km/h (depending on speed tweak or not) slower than the Viper, while having max armour as well. The Alpha Varaint would jump almost as well (7jj's vs the 8 on the Viper), while still pushing nearly 50% more pod space over the Viper (12t vs the 8.5t). The only thing that the Coyotl could use would be FF, but even with out it, Endo, DHS and a cXL makes her a nasty little package.

Or the Mech from the same line which fits the designation better, the Blitzkrieg?
This line is so weird, even that one is somehow part of it.

Ironically if I wanted some one-big-gun-only-Mech, I would chose the Blitzkrieg, for it might actually work in MWO. You'd switch to LFF and lower the engine rating to add more ammo.
It would not work well, of course, but it would be a lot less frustating than the Hollander. There is a reason why noone uses a Firestarter with GR...

In a Fafnir, Nightstar or Sagittaire... anytime. And that's the problem. The Annihilator is not bad per se, but it just pales in comparison to what we could have had and, frankly, what we should have had in a FCCW-scenario.
And yes, I am salty about the release of a Mech that is likely mediocre in MWO and largely irrelevant in the FCCW, taking the spot of so much more deserving designs.

Actually the Blitzkrieg is a close relative of the Hollander, but it's not in the same line. The Blitzkrieg uses BTZ- as it's three letter designator while the Hollander uses BZK-... Though if you want to talk one gun mechs, the Legionnaire does a better job at Blitzkrieg style warfare, just with a RAC/5 and a 350XL engine...Posted Image

Yup.... I see the Anni as yet another mech that once mastered is going to be in the same part of the hanger as people keep their Dragons, Orions, Commandos and Highlanders..... As I don't know how many people are thinking with their head over their heart when looking at the art and engine cap when taking game play into account....

Oy, I love to derp about in QP with my ONI-K Champ. People still don't know what to do with him, and so he kills them quite brutally.

Rechecking the Lore of the Mad Cat IIC..... i think this Mechs should be an IS Mech...where the Clans get the Annihilator.

This feels right from the perspective of Lore and Troll - and of course we can see if IS Tech or Clan Tech is better... when the IS suddenly drops only with MAD CAT IIs in CW and the Clans with Annihilators we know grass is always greener on the other side

As long as the Clans couldn't mount Clan equipment in the Annihilator and IS couldn't mount IS equipment in the Mad Cat MkII, it could work as test of balance (though I doubt any Clanner would bring the Anni instead of the Kodiak).

I know but can you imagine the face of the "WE WANT MAD CAT II NOW" crowd when the thing moves into the frontlines of the IS..... i think that day i would not stop to ROFL

Hmmm.. but if both IS and Clan had access to those 2 mechs, no one could complain, right?

Well, actually having the Annihilator and Mad Cat MK II as dual faction mechs would be a blast (and totally lore accurate). Also, it would really boost PGI sells of these mechs.

Come on, PGI, there is still time for this! Just make a big announcement before the early rewards expire (I mean, now) and take our money.

How about no? Neither of those mechs are very good, and saddling each faction with the other's trash is basically a slap in the face to both sides.

Why are you counting the Champion LCT-1E separate from the standard version? And the Phoenix LCT-1V (LCT-1V is on there twice)? None of the other 'Mechs seem to have their Champions or Phoenix variants called out.
