Liking the Nightstar thus far (though I'll like it a lot more once I actually get them skilled up...). I did pick up the Ultimate pack, but the standouts (for me anyways) are the -9S (running 2x Gauss, 3x ERLL), the -9FC (2x LBX-10, 2x Snub-nose PPC, 3x ML), and the Wolf Phoenix (4x MRM-20, 4x ML).

That said, they do seem a bit on the squishy side, though a good chunk of that is likely from not having any skill points on them yet (I tend to invest heavily in survival tree).

Only mech from MW4 i'd have wanted.

Yes!

Every time I mention the Argus, nobody knows what the hell I am talking about. Heavy Gauss and 2x ERLL, super mobile but you needed to protect the gun arm. I played the hell out of that mech, which was considered by most an under achiever.

Asked Chris in game, and in NGNG chat, if they are planning on an animation pass for it. He said he was unsure, but would ask at the office in the morning.

Because, whowee.... That animation is god awful.

Seems like animations have gone to complete and utter **** recently. Started with the Uziel and Mad MK2, but holy ****, they need to hire someone even remotely capable of animating...

I'm absolutely sure the Argus will be the next IS heavy mech. Specially now that the (resurrected) MW:LL added it.

NCT is a solid laserboat. Especially with ALL the wubs. 5x MPlas and 2x LPLas makes for some bad juju. Also, the B is a brutal LRM and ATM delivery platform. Gauss+Vom works on it, but I don't think it's its strongest aspect.

It doesn't look like a noobie-friendly mech, though. Every time I saw a NCT, it was shutting down. :P

Yep, the NCT is pretty hot in most variants. Interestingly enough most of the stock loadouts are pretty workable. It's not the easiest mech to handle tho. 90% of your firepower is in the arms and therefore moderately low mounted. The two variants with ST mounts are pretty decent. Mobility is okay-ish as expected from a 70t with 64 kph max. Torso twists 100° in each direction, but no lower arm actuators.

The ACW is a beast. It's a bit on the fragile side and runs hot pretty fast, but I think it will have a significant impact in scouting. The hero seems a bit like an underperformer tho. I like the Battlemechs a bit more (hero aside) than the Omnimechs. The torso twist on that thing is insane (130°), you can nearly fire directly backwards - with 30° more on the arms. Really a fine and fun mech.

Really? WHY?!

Their leg construction is the same as the Crab (with the actually digitigrade legs) and the Crab runs and walks properly (apart from some clipping, but that's a non-issue for me.)

The movement of the crab doesn't look that good either, but maybe because of the general leg construction its not that bad.
running the vid from BF

if their is movement at the "heel" than its hardly more than a suspension effect

(for reference hip(moves)-knee(moves)-heel(??)-ankle(moves))

Mean little mech, it is. But one good swat seems to put the little mongrel in its place. Posted Image

I find it entertaining that it can pack 4-5 SRM, ECM, and 2 ERSLas in the ACW, while my SHC, a 5 ton heavier mech, needs to trade out the ECM for comparable firepower... though it also gains JJ and MASC. The Awooo is definitely a solid little package full of hate and explosive ordinance!

I love the hateful little sonofagun. I just got so tired of the speed limits my Nova, HBKIIC or Huntsman stuck me with, especially in Scout Mode. Having my slowest one going 104 kph is very nice. My 9xSRM2 SpiteBoat does 127..... I like it.

It really does seem that they lost someone skilled on that end and we're only now really realizing it as the last two releases hit production.

Yeah, it was a hotbox even in TT, MWO is worse- but you can manage staggering your fire. The Awooolf is going to be the standout of the two, but the Nova Cat is a real workhorse.

If only they could fix that gawdawful walk.

Is there an actual awareness thread for that, yet? Should we make one regarding that run animation? >_> It's up there with the Mk II levels of awful.

I honestly think that's the best PGI can do with the current staff.

Which is mildly disturbing.

I hope that's because they have most of the resources on MW5 by now.

Look how the time flies! We are like 10 days for the Black Lanner next mech reveal!

(and yes, I'm addicted to new mechs - but you already knew that)

Eh... I can't even force myself to be excited for new mech announcements...

Only ones that could rustle my jimmies now would be the Scorpion/Goliath and maaaaaybe the Vulcan, depending on how it translates into MWO's aesthetic. Maybe the Argus too, but seeing how Osiris looks in MWO, i'm not sure Argus would look good either...

If all future mechs have gait patterns similar to the Mad Cat MKII or the Nova Cat, only 4 legs could help them to reach the battlefieldPosted Image .

Maybe PGI should go with wheels...

Even before I stop playing MWO (which might take several years), I will be still coming here for the mech porn.

Hey, I'm a metalhead. Aparently, it was my Battletech lore that failed (I didn't know the Flea was once called the Trooper) Posted Image
