It is definitely a niche mech. A lot like the locust and despite the huge hardpoint count, it's low space for ammo and tonnage for hard hitting weapons in general keeps it checked.

That's a relief. I was afraid it would be OP.

BTW, my videocard died 2 days ago, so I won't pilot a Piranha so soon...

Most notably, it gets no armor quirks, only minor structure ones. It is the most fragile robot in the game right now, and every time one explodes from a Streak salvo, this only becomes more obvious.

And it is right so.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get it fixed soon.

The PIR is a very fragile mech, way more fragile than the Locust. If you don't get attention it's okay, but even a sneeze blows off your legs. Glass cannon at it's best.

Best game so far was with the PIR-1 12 cMG (3t ammo), 3 ERmL. 400 damage, 5 kills, 6 assists, 1 solo kill, 1 kmdd, 16 components. No skills unlocked.

Have to keep in mind tho that everyone and their mother is running streaks at the moment. So final statement is to be expected when the dust settles and everything's back to normal.

Phantom and Pouncer would be way better than both of those

Pouncer is interesting.

Phantom does nothing for me, though.

I will agree that the Pouncer is intteresting, but a 97km/h with 9 internal DHS 40t mech does concern me a little...

At least with the Coyotl we get to pull 113km/h with 10 internal DHS..

In the Pouncer's favor how ever, with a little armour stripping it does get 17.5t of pod space, while the Coyotl is pushing 15.5t of pod space.

Also in the Pouncer's favour is the fact that she doesn't really need PGI variants and has a ton of hard points, while the Coyotl would need at least 4 PGI variants and she is hard point starved.

The Phantom is a case of why? It offers nothing other than speed... granted it's 151km/h out of the box, but it trades away too much armour and fire power to do it.

The Phantom is for those who think the Viper has a too small engine and too much podspace... Posted Image it's something I'd buy for C-Bills and enjoy giggling for a few rounds.

The Pouncer on the other hand is probably an Adder with JJ. It's slightly larger but it's not like anybody has trouble hitting the Adder. And to be honest, I do miss JJ on the Adder. It is a bit on the slow side for a 40t (Clan) Mech, though. Perhaps useful in FP...

Anyway, the only Clan Mechs I would buy for real money are the Stooping Hawk and the Crimson Langur, both CBS. The Crimson Langur fits my playstyle really well, and the Stooping Hawk would be the opposite to the Black Lanner: slow but durable, almost more like an IS Mech.

FLG considering your play style is usually cavalry, the Coyotl would be right up your ally...Posted Image

Just a bit to add, but what about the Grendel?
Posted Image
Fast, jumpy, all but one canon variants are eligible for MWO. Yeah, it's pretty ugly, and PGI would have to make a Hero for it, but other than that I think it could be a solid mech.

I keep forgetting about the Grendel... It's a solid trooper unit.

The reasoning for the phantom is similar to that of an Ice-Ferret with ECM. It's definitely softer, but that extra speed and ECM on multiple variants would make it visit. I concede that it is more niche than the average mech, but no more so than the viper. It's not a priority mech, but I'd really like to see it added in the not so distant future

The Pouncer is essentially an upgraded Adder and though not very fast, it provides mobility through it's ability to jump as well as coming out of the box with builds that are strong in MWO. I can imagine dozens of scenarios where it'd be useful in both FP and QP. This mech should be high up on the list of upcoming mechs.

The Grendel is also a solid looking mech. Ugly as hell, but so was its name sake. I think we just need a variety of clan mediums to come out to give us a comparative selection to the IS.

We need a table with all possible hardpoints. Unfortunately, I don't think this mech has many. :(

Looking at the Grendel's stock loadouts on mechfactory, most of the builds (obviously not the dedicated LRM boat) are designed with a wide variety of lasers. It's not a bad mech, but I'm still convinced the Pouncer is a better option.
