Quite right, and I am the first to say it would be a good Mech in MWO. It is also a good looking Mech, imo, and as a fan of extinct Mechs you can bet I like it for other reasons too. Who knows? If Alex produces a convincing artwork I could easily change my mind...
But whatever my personal feelings are, there is no doubt the Coyotl deserves to be recognized when it comes to Clan 40t Mechs.

And right now I am more concerned with the 40t Mechs for the IS. There is the danger that we might get the Chimera, a really bad unit even by the standards of IS MW:4-originals - and that's saying a lot.

At the moment the Dervish and Men Shen are the most popular... If PGI get's around to actually considering IS Omnis, we might get the Men Shen... at least it's a MC2 mech... here's hoping.

While both good mediums, they're not 40 tons. Specifically addressing the 40t bracket of FLG's specific concern, I agree the Chimera is an outright wretched choice in mechs (and personally hate that thing).

I'd much rather see the Clint, Hermes II, Sentinel, Vulcan, or Whitworth . . . without getting outside timeline or into omnimechs. The Clint would be my personal choice for next IS 40 ton chassis, but probably needs to wait on timeline/tech for more viable variants (of course that doesn't stop PGI, but I'd love some Plasma Rifles and Light AC's).

Not bad!!!

Pouncer is now in my top 3 Clan medium list!
  • Vapor Eagle (munchkin mech);
  • Hellhound (for the nostalgia and for fixing the lore);
  • Pouncer (sorry Coyotl...).
Which Pouncer variants PGI should take?
  • Prime
  • A (delicious side torsos)
  • D (monster arms)
  • C (only because of that ballistic right arm)
  • B (versatile arms)
  • Hero with ballistic in the left arm.

Dervish is iconic (sort of) but do we need 5 more Griffins?

Top 4 still?

At least with the Coyotl all the hard points are close to cockpit level... LT/RT are just above, LA/RA at and CT just below cockpit height, the Pouncer can't claim that feature... Also the Alpha Coyotl can jump better than the Pouncer, almost as good as the Viper. (5/7/8 JJ's for Pouncer/Coyotl/Viper)...

FupDup, sorry to be so needy but could you provide the spreadsheet for the Phantom as well? I know there are some well armed variants, but your spreadsheets make the info so much easier to handle.

Never liked the Clint.... (though it could be salvageable in MWO)

The Sha Yu is my top pick for IS 40 tonner.

I'll admit it's not terribly interesting, but I like the aesthetic.

I think it would be a solid trooper mech in MWO. It'd probably get Wolfhound-esque quirks to make it a rugged and nimble trooper mech, that also differentiates it from the Cicada and Assassin, but it wouldn't outright NEED obscene quirks to make it viable . . . unlike the chimera which absolutely would require them.

In addition, the hardpoints heavily favor the asymmetrical sword-and-board fighting style with great shielding potential; and any of them could zombie if you wanted, since they pretty much all have CT hardpoints (not that it's popular anymore). There are also plenty of variants for the laser meta to love.

Honestly, though, having a mini Yen Lo with full arm actuators, likely Assassin grade or better hitboxes, that jumps, runs around with a RAC/5 with plenty of ammo, max armor, and going over 100kph is pretty enticing to me.

Indeed. It's a very good looking mech.

It is, I just worry that it would suffer similar issues to the Shadowcat interms of arm weapon convergence....

And she'd likely have very similar hit boxes too...

Be my guest to riot, but we are talking 40t mechs at the moment...
