I would expect the Clan mechs to come more or less all together. It wont make sense to add only one Clan mech to the game.

Well atleast one of every class at once, to start. They'll probably be trial mechs, and I'm thinking the Timber Wolf and Dire Wolf won't be in the first go around. Probably the Summoner or Hellbringer in the heavy slot and either a Warhawk or Gargoyle for an assault.

Isn't the artist Flying Debris ahead of the announcements by a few 'mechs? Love the idea of releasing sets of them, but I think they'll milk us for the suspense.

Yeah, imagine all the QQ if the Madcat wasn't in the first group. It will be their cash cow, but the problem is a lot of people won't buy any more mechs (at least not with MC) since they will have THE mech. So I think they will carrot on a stick everyone right up to the main CW release. I also believe that they have stockpiled at least a handful of clan mechs. It wouldn't make sense to only drop one every month or so and it would be frustrating at the very least. In my mind I think that's why we only get one IS mech a month because they are creating the clan mech along side of them.

Read the OP.
Specially "The Unseen" part.

Oh trust me, I know it won't happen. Every man has a right to dream though.

The Loki is next to useless, they'd be stupid to add it if we can't adjust armor values. The QQ will literally be worse than not getting the Mad Cat if that were to happen. The Thor isn't a bad choice at all. Except for the fact it uses such a massive engine. That's a lot of tonnage being devoted to something you can't change, and a whole lot of hardwired equipment too. I'd really like to pilot the Thor down the road, but I think they'd be making a mistake if they didn't add the Mad Cat first. Especially if they are going to be doing a Clan Founders type deal like I very much think they will. As for the Daishi, you had better hope we get it first, the amount of rage an Executioner would produce might actually cause people to quit the game.

The Loki / Hellbringer useless? The thing is ECM-capable and a heavy clanner omni. Doesn't sound useless to me.

The Shadow Cat isn't on the TRO 3050 list and wasn't used during the first years of the Clan Invasion. You wanna run an 45 ton Omni? Take the Ice Ferret! It's a good choice. :D

Shouldn't matter. It's introduction date falls within the timeline and it fits the faction.

So far if a Mech has enough variants, falls within the timeline, and fits the faction, it hasn't been excluded.

It isn't stuck in this ambiguous faction grey area like the Annihilator or the Imp.

It could (and likely does) matter, though - it's explicitly stated that while the Shadow Cat (the primary, A, and B configurations) may have been around since 3003, it was not seen at all by IS forces until the (first) Battle of Luthien in January of 3052.

Likewise, the Cauldron-Born (the primary, A, B, and C configurations) has been in existence with the Clans since 3049, but it too was never seen by the IS until the (first) Battle of Luthien in 3052.

From a content standpoint, It makes sense for PGI to get through all of the "front-runners" (the original 16 OmniMechs used in the opening waves of the Clan Invasion) before getting to "second-stringers" (like the Shadow Cat and Cauldron-Born) in their due time (which also allows them to keep up the drip-feed of new content over time).

ECM and other equips are in OmniPods, any OmniMech can use ECM.

I'm glad you feel better. Too bad your so called Maddog is really a Vulture. And too bad the so called Hellbringer is truly a Loki. You know, named after the trickster God because it seems so powerful, but has less armor than a Centurion. And every configuration seems like it's weapon load was tossed together by a Capellan mad scientist, never did get those configs.

Too bad you clanners just never got it right. Just don't understand how utterly intuitive our names for your little toys are.

I have been reading the recent discussions and I am beginning to believe that releasing the "second string" Omnimechs such as the Kit Fox or the Mad Dog in the first wave would not be such a bad thing. You have 16 initial Omnimechs to choose from and I guarantee the first four released will be a huge trial by fire for Clan 'mechs and weapons alike. They have flaws and are not optimized out of the hanger bay like other Omnis. This course of action would give PGI time to tune this aspect of the content and dangle the proverbial carrot without incurring excess backlash before introducing the more pinnacle designs like the Timber Wolf or Dire Wolf that would absolutely wreck certain aspects of gameplay until they could be adjusted.

Any thoughts beyond "I want X 'Mech!" on this current topic of discussion?

The Uller and Vulture (along with the Mad Cat and the Daishi) are among the original 16 OmniMechs seen in the opening waves of the Invasion (as listed in the original TRO 3050).

When I used the term "second-stringer" ("the group of players that substitute for the starting players or from which substitute players are drawn"), it was in reference to those OmniMechs (like the Shadow Cat, Cauldron-Born, and Kingfisher) that, from an in-universe perspective, had existed since before the Invasion (in some cases, several decades before the Invasion) but were apparently judged and found lacking versus the 16 "front-runners".
(In reality, the FASA devs simply hadn't dreamed them up at the time the initial Invasion-describing books were being printed.)

No, we were arguing about the Loki. I kept bringing up how it's armor (for it's tonnage) is like a Cicada.

Sure, it's a Medium, but it may as well be a Light. Same goes with the Loki. Sure, it's a Heavy but it may as well be a Medium.

Normally we can just adjust the armor values (like with the Cicada), but we can't do that with the Loki. Speculating that PGI might allow us to unlock certain features is not a good idea. We must work under the assumption that a lot of things are going to be locked, just like in TT.

Lol If I said Loki, then I most assuredly meant the Thor. The Loki IS trash.

What thread was it in? I went looking and couldn't find it.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. I did say Thor. Maybe you were thinking about the Loki when you were posting?

Ya, I had to break a guy's heart that loves the Loki. He didn't know about the locked armor.
