If there is any viable dakka (ballistic) assault (and testbed for the new gauss tweak) it's definitely the King Crab.

Back in the studios, Alex must be drawing up a lot of concept mechs. Then Bryan and Russ looks all over them and say, "This one looks really cool. Let's bring it into the game." Regardless whether its iconic or fan favorite. The ones that don't look cool enough, will have to be redrawn until you get one that is cool enough. In the meantime the cool ones gets put into the launch queue.

It is indeed.

Hypothetically, PGI could bend the canon a bit by dropping a ton of Gauss ammo (from two tons to one) to free up the tonnage, moving one of the FF criticals out of the Left-Torso to free up the space, and replacing the listed SN-PPC with a standard PPC.
It wouldn't be an exact duplicate of Kerensky's version of the 'Mech, but it would retain the core concepts and the vast majority of the key attributes while still being substantially different from the stock ON1-K (unlike the Kurita rebuild; they found Kerensky's original 'Mech essentially stripped to just the skeleton, and rebuilt it in 3015 as a stock ON1-K).
