In truth, this also means, numbers-wise, Bandersnatch are rare as heck, but actual scarcity has not stopped PGI in the past.

And IMO, it's the most interesting design left (non Unseen) of the 3025, 2750 and 3055 Heavies.

Mind you, it almost certainly won't happen, but just my 2ct.

Granted, the Bandersnatch is interesting, yes. However, the...

Why can't I hold all these mechs?
Here's another I would love to see
http://www.sarna.net...28BattleMech%29
Though it does have the required 3 variants for the current timeline, they are VERY similar in loadout.
I want it but I doubt it will make it in before others.

nah PGI have a mad scientist - they can make their own variants: like the Enforcer with 4 Energy HPs and a AC20
or the panther with ballistic.
Of course they can make a Excalibur - energy only :D

Yes it is!
(I really love non-humanoid mechs)

riddle me this:

Why does the Bandersnatch, based on the Marauder Chassis, looks like a big bulky huanoid mech,
While the Falconer, built using the Orion chassis, is a bent over Walker/Pod?

Looking at the original art, the Bandersnatch does have Marauder-style arms.
And, to be fair, what it actually says is, "Bander considered the Marauder's chassis the most distinctive of all 'Mechs, and so he designed and built his 'Mech with a similar profile and style."
In other words, the Bandersnatch is only supposed to (kinda-sorta) look like it was inspired by the Marauder, but without (necessarily) actually using any Marauder parts...?

As for the Falconer... if one squints really hard while looking at the original art, the front part of the Falconer's torso kinda-sorta looks like the upper part of the Orion's torso (especially at the shoulders)?
(Also, while it's not really reflected in the art for both 'Mechs, I could see it being the case that the Falconer and the Orion might share the same legs...?)

I see nothing of the Orion on the Falconer.

It doesn't say anything about being based on the Orion. It was ordered built by Hanse Davion. He wanted a mech that could take on a clan mech 1v1. That's why it has a big engine (375xl), long range weapons and JJ. I don't see anything about the Falconer that looks based/inspired by the Orion.

Two variants for the Falconer:

- 7 energy, 350xl, 4 jj, & MASC.

- 2 ballistic, 4 energy, 375xl.

Look up the actual TRO entry, you can find it by googling "falconer Solaris 7". It specifically states it's built using the Orions chassis.

"Though unable to produce OmniMechs, the firm's designers opted to copy a popular Clan design. The TharHes team chose the Thor, an OmniMech popular among Jade Falcon warriors, as the basis for the Falconer. The spacious Orion chassis, built using endo steel processes, was selected for the skeleton of the 'Mech." (source)

Basically, the Falconer is built on a (heavily-modified) skeleton of an Orion, with hints of being based on that IS engineers & observers saw in the Thor (high mobility + heavy firepower, with somewhat light armor for its weight)).

Ouch. Just had a thought:

Orion and Thor aren't ... optimal ... performers in MWO. Would the Falconer have enough armor/weapons/mobility/whatever to be good at something? I'm not really familiar with the mech from more than the sarna.net entry.

Well, the main Falconer variant (the FLC--8R) is a 75-ton 'Mech that would have, at a minimum, one ballistic hardpoint in the right arm, one energy hardpoint in the left arm, and two energy hardpoints in each side torso (for a total of 6 hardpoints at a minimum; inflation would likely increase this to no more than 8, IMO), plus Jump Jets (up to at least 5), and an Engine cap of 400 (XL375 stock, 375 * 1.2 = 450, cap ends at 400).

What do you make of that?

^ This

The Falconer would likely be the best IS heavy. The only way it'd not be good is if they messed up the hard points, ideally they'd also not make the arms quite so low and it'd be a beast.
