Since Russ stated in this last Townhall that mechs need only have one existing variant and no out of game tech, what are some 3053 and before mechs you'd like to see?

The mechs in the timeline I really want:

IS: (not counting the rest of the "Macross Unseen": Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie, Ostroc, Crusader and Longbow - those are priority)
  • Charger, Annihilator
  • Excalibur (new heavy favorite), Lancelot
  • Assassin, Vulcan, Bushwacker
  • Javelin, Flea (but different from the original concept art - I want it more like this)
Clan:
  • Turkina, Kingfisher, Bane
  • Night Gyr
  • Viper, Black Lanner
  • Fire Moth
  • and the remaining IIC mechs: Marauder IIC, Rifleman IIC, Phoenix Hawk IIC, etc.

Mongoose (well, Jackal, really, but the Goose is more timeline appropriate)
Vulcan (Assassin as a close second)
Crusader
Annihilator

For Clanners?. Tougher

Piranha
Vapor Eagle
Rifleman IIC
Bane

Gosh, let me think...

I would like to see some more IIC's.
Locust IIC, Urbanmech IIC,etc. However I would personally only buy the pack with the locust/ urbie. I am at the point where I spent so much money in this game that I question why do I buy eveything so I stopped buying everything around about the Marauder pack and only started buying stuff I really like due to personal reasons typically such as kodiak. However for C-bills I will totally buy the Marauder IIC and stuff but I would personally like the Marauder II the most.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Atlas II either.

However I want the Grizzly...

1 Variant by our timeline. the other is using future-tech... so PGI will make it into a PGI variant probably.
Grizzly 2 [sarna details]:

Quote

During the Combine-Ghost Bear War, Star Captain Scott of the Gurdel Bloodhouse came to fame for his customized Grizzly that has reignited this failed design. A potent urban defender, Scott's loadout is now a standard, with old Grizzlies being recalled for refit. The variant keeps the Gauss Rifle, but swaps out the pulse lasers for an ER Large Laser and six ER Micro Lasers. The missile launcher is replaced with an ATM 9 and two tons of ammunition that are usually High-Explosive rounds as they are the most useful in an urban environment. This refit is especially potent against infantry, both conventional and battle armor.

Okay, so... we got a Gauss rifle, a single ER large laser, and 6 ER micro lasers [0.25 ton lasers], and an ATM 9 which behaves like an LRM but here it uses the HE ammo the most, which is a shorter range 3 damage per missile weapon, So we will do what PGI did for the Hunchback IIC missile variant and make it SSRM 6.

Alright. We will put the Gauss rifle and single ER large laser on it. We will put 6 ER small lasers. The extra tonnage came from the "downgrade" of the ATM 9 to an SSRM 6. The remaining ton for the ER small lasers is (from the stock build) taken from a ton of missile ammo.

The 3rd variant will be a PGI made up one however knowing ghost bear it would probably have more missiels and a UAC 10, or replaces the gauss rifle for an ER PPC.

I know, I'm weird.

Grizzly would be some sort of Clan's Cataphract... that's interesting.
I have good memories of the mech (because of MW2:GBL), but that wouldn't be my first Clan heavy Battlemech choice (Black Python would - I'm very curious about what Alex Iglesias could do with it).

Y'all can have any Heavy or Assault you want. Let's just hope that common sense trumps everything else for the next clan medium, and we get the Vapor Eagle

Nope. I said what I meant and meant what I said. Vapor Eagle has potential to be the best Medium in the Clan Arsenal.

Ahh you mean the mech that doesnt even exist. Someone at Microsoft created up mechs for mw4 that were later actually produced in tro3067. Unfortunately they never did enough fact checking to see if the name hell hound was used unfortantly it was.

Mechs from those dark days.

Truth be told, I like pretty much all of those. TRO 3067 was actually interesting, IMO.

Liked their version of the Arctic Wolf more, but hellhound was cool. Vapor Eagle was better than either, but would need serious live from Alex.

Yes tro 3067 is one of my favorites. Conquistador dropships, Sagittarie assault mechs, sha yu ands lau hu gave the cappies some more decent mechs. Templars.

Solitares, crimson langurs, hellfire, and bloodkites for clans. Plus conquer class warships.

And some of those second generation wobbie mechs were decent if not brutal.

Sadly that is an extreme redesign of ... well. the original name is enough to make you see the differences...

Wait, all those mechs were made up? I thought only the Mad cat mk II was. o-O

Anyway. Hellhound was the actual hellhound you are thinking off. It's just it was an unseen mech and did an extreme redesign.
I should remind you the artist for MW4 is David "mecha-zone" White. And to remind you further this is the same person who that is... That's the guy who also drawn the pictures on Sarna of mechs and most vehicles... he nearly singlehandedly drawn that all by himself.
So stating that he didn't do research on the mech he was drawing is very far from the truth (in fact if you look at the hardpoints and weapons of this mech it can nearly replicate every Wolverine IIC build as well as the standard wolverines)
Another piece of evidence: look at the concept arts of the Hellhound.
Posted Image
Posted Image

concept art B and most specifically C is very close to the Wolverine IIC / Hellhound/ Conjurer.
Posted Image

Buuuut copy rights. However I must say I really do love the looks of the MW4 hellhound and besides it being visually different in MW4 it was also an omnimech so that kinda broke some issues here and there...
A lot of people do wish however that MW4 / Mekteks mechs get canonised and such and some already drawn the alt.configs. or variants of some for eg MW4 Hellhound (note: this is in the realm of Fanon)

Posted Image
Prime
1 x Cl ER Small Laser
2 x Cl ER Medium laser
2 x Cl UAC 5
1 x Cl LRM 10

A
2 x Cl ER Large laser
1 x Cl LBX 10
1 x Cl SSRM 6

The other variants have Heavy lasers and such but afterall these are fanon as to recreate MW4's Hellhound as a new mech.

I actually kind of want to see MW: O make up their own mech with Catalyst games and canonise it...
I mean our hero mechs are already canon now... would be interesting.

eeeh, they are a bit tooo different to the point some them look like an updated Linebacker ^^;

I am talking like...

Battletech original Arctic Wolf

MW4:Mercs Arctic wolf.

Battletech "Arctic wolf II" integration of the MW4 Arctic wolf

See the similarities?

Or say...

Battletech Kodiak

Mechwarrior 4 Kodiak

Battletech Kodiak II

Just some ways how MW4 unique redesigns were reimagined into Battletech.

As you can see most of them kept their original looks more or less. I kinda want to see the same happen with the Hellhound.
However I am not going to force PGI to make that step.
