About bloody time the Flea showed up. Good to know it's no longer "dead" to Russ. Here's hoping the Flamer gets fixed after the Flamergeddon debacle, so the Fire Ant and other Fleas (and Firestarters and other mechs) can have the Flamer they deserve by the time of this release.

Regardless, it's nice to see it added. While many (including myself) want the Wasp and Stinger for the 20 ton bracket, we know why that can't happen right now. This is a solid alternative choice.

On the other hand, just like the Javelin did to the Spider hardpoints, it really makes you want some more MG hardpoints on the Locust 1V and 3V.

sounds about right... at least now it would be easier to import it into HBS Battletech maybe?

Shame it doesn't even look like a proper Flea... so can't say that is terribly interesting a prospect, either.

Meh... think I'll skip this one.

I like the option of an IS MG boat (about time now), but it did it really have to be in a Flea, which has basically no tonnage to use it?170 max engine means 4 additional heat sinks and 137.7 kph without speed tweak.

Light Ferro, Endo-Steel and DHS leave it at 7 tons and 12 free slots to work with. So 8 MGs with 2 tons of ammo leave it at 1 ton and 2 slots so it can theoretically be done, if it'll be effective is a whole different story.

The Locust had speed as it's redeeming factor, but the Flea is a lot slower and will be inferior to the Piranha in every way. So expect it to have Wolfhound-like armor quirks to make it at least slightly viable (except from the ECM and MASC variants).

Most of the variants will have to be upgraded with DHS, Light Ferro and Endo-Steel and it doesn't even come with an XL170. So one variant will already cost about 6 million c-bills just for the upgrades and one engine.

The most interesting variants will be in the reinforcement pack (ECM Flea and the Fire Ant).

Announcing the Flea now seems to be a really odd decision. Neither was it particulary popular in the poll, nor does it fit the timeline... Seems to me PGI didn't really had time to design something new and reused the old Flea art to keep up with the monthly releases.

The big question is: what will be the next (Clan) mech???

Major candidates:
  • Hellhound (please PGI, make it the MW4's original design, not the uninspired TT's Conjurer)
  • Rifleman IIC - possible issues with Harmony Gold
  • Stone Rhino - possible issues with Harmony Gold
  • Warhammer IIC - possible issues with Harmony Gold
  • Fire Falcon - very good (and cute) light omnimech
  • Vapor Eagle - excellent medium battlemech, but would feel like a slap in the face of the Black Lanner buyers (unless PGI buffs the BKL soon).
The last Clan mechs were: Blood Asp (assault), Sun Spider (heavy), Black Lanner (medium), Piranha (light), Nova Cat (heavy), Arctic Fox (medium), Mad Cat MKII (assault), Cougar (light).

Apparently, it's time for a new Clan light mech. Except we had an IS light mech in March. So... clan medium mech next?

Short list:
  • Fire Falcon (light omnimech), or
  • Vapor Eagle or Hellhound (medium battlemech)
