I think Clan Mediums fall behind because of the Ballistics

my favorite IS mediums, Centurion, Shadhawk, and Blackjacks, all Carry big Ballistics and laser backups.

While the Clan ones rely almost entirely on Lasers which makes them pretty boring. IF they fix ballistics I'll probably enjoy them a bit more.

Don't dream it, be it.

That's a smurfy's bug with clan mechs - sometimes it ports and sometimes it doesn't, I've stopped caring about it.

I bet PGI is scared to death with you holding them hostage like this.

Dude, make up your mind. Multiple multiple places you complain about poptarting, another place you complain about "bored to tears with laser vomit", and now you won't buy the next pack unless they buff JJs. How do people not call you out on this?

You do realize the poptart meta you hate is just waiting for any avenue to come back right? It wouldn't take much.

Whatever.

Frankly, if poptarts make a comeback, so what?

Hmm, was half ready for a bunch of QQ but came in on a very solid and well thought through argument. You have a solid point Bishop.

I too have been on the fence, not so much around the movement archetype (thanks for bringing this up) or jumpjets, but because the Wave 2 pack was just terribad. I have Myst Lynx, Gargoyles and Ice Ferrets just sitting in my bay collecting dust. Not to mention my warhawk, nova's and adders.

At least with the quirkening IS mechs came out more balanced so there is now much more variety and more reason to take out other mechs than your standard meta, but for clan mechs, you pick a sub-par mech and your just wasting tonnage..

That said, I do appreciate that PGI have released the mech details so we can at least see what we can do with each build. I do like the look of the Cauldron Born and think it could be the standout just like the Mad Dog (which was the saving grace of W2)

Pretty much my exact thoughts on the executioner. Why even bother when you know it's going to be a waste of money? Sure a massive Nova that lost the ability to jump will be fun for a match or two, until the third consecutive time you lose 7 of your lasers seconds into the fight because people learned which arm to shoot at first.

Will go up to cauldron born however. That early backer extension is nice, it's like they wanted to specifically give me the extra variants because I couldn't make it happen before the 28th.

not about how meta the mech will be, its about how fun it will be. and I love the Gargoyle, and looking at the stats I will love this mech too if it ends up in the right place.

the builds are indeed part of it. Never have enjoyed laser vomit, and even back in CB ran big ballistics, even with horrid hitreg on them (This was when everyone ran lasers because them and SRMs were about the only things reliable. Dear god were PPCs bad then.)

Part of it, I think is that several Clan Heavies feel about the same as my IS Mediums, too.

Agreed, and I ran PPCs back then (well, I shot and missed a lot with PPCs, not sure that counts as 'running').

Mostly this thread has reminded me how awesome the Highlander concept art is. Too bad I just can't get into MWO assault mechs.

For wave III I'm only interested in the Cauldron Born, never expected to see one in game. If they bring in the Black Lanner I'm gonna flip out. Figure I'll wait until they drop, then a la cart me a CB.

It would be easy to give us good JJs and no poptart meta. It is called reticle shake or reticle cone. So you can not get good hits, while in the air. Not just during JJ use, but the whole time your air born.

yup, as mentioned in the linked post on the OP.

BTW, I still get a nerdgasm everytime I see that Gargoyle concept art. My goodness Alex did a fantastic job on that. He usually does, but as the in game Prime Model shows....man that is one mech tough to not make goofy looking.

That's how I feel every time I see a Jager in game, man those were some UGLY mechs in TT. Perhaps the best looking (IMO, YMMV naturally) mech in MWO.

Yeah, it's a nice job on them, too.

Probably for me, Alex's best pieces are the Founders Hunchback, the K2 (with REAL PPC barrels), Gargoyle and Summoner. Did take a little while for the Summoner to grow on me, and I do think I like the game model a little better than his concept.

This is not a fix in my opinion. If you cannot feather your jets on the way down, they lose a great deal of usefulness. I understand why they were nerfed, but adjust the nerf to hurt hang time and not altitude. At least give Assaults some momentum in a jump, that much mass doesn't just change directions because its thrust is gone.

Oh gosh, I can see how we should throw out the whole idea due to this tiny issue. However would we amend this.

Lets try:
Can't fire your jumpjets unless you have a 100% jump charge -Unless you are in the air-

Crisis averted.

and also most mobile Lights and Mediums get hugely nerfed mobility use from their JJs. Because a small boost to get over a hill should keep me from a second one if I need to salmon ladder, but still have juice in the bottle?

Gotta pass.

Nothing gets nerfed because of this, everything gets a HUGE boost.

How about finally having enough thrust to make it to the second rung on the salmon ladder the first try. Instead of this meaningless Jump, to tiny jump to tiny jump.

Sorry but jets need to have some Teeth to them or what's the point.
