Insults
multiple people attempting to "Take charge" then blaming everyone for not listening.
An entire unit who constantly said "Bababui" over it.
Conversations that do not pertain to the match in any capacity.
Complaints over one's weapon loadout.
Stuck mic brodcasting music.
You know, all the problems that those of us who opposed VOIP said would happen.
That being said, I HAVE seen VOIP be utilize in a way that has been an asset. But it's honestly more rare than it being a hindrance.
Have you never played any other online game with voip? The MWO crowd so far is vastly more mature and useful than the angsty teens on Xbox Live/PSN.

This is as good as it gets for VOIP???
I'll need to stick to our private TS where we ban people for cussing and other code of honor violating behavior.

Overall I feel the game is better for it but it still needs work.

I think most haven't even bother to turn it on.
But the times I've been in matches with others who used, it was an absolute success.
Most times I just see STFU typed on my screen, for no other reason than trying to coordinate the lemmings.
Upon which I nicely encourage them to go die first and fast.
But at least take one enemy mech with them.

I played plenty in X-box Live. CoD, Halo, Chromehounds...
You know what we did... we formed party's... which is, basically, utilizing Team Speak on your own. Screw the public chat, because it's all toxic people calling you every name under the sun because it's the "cool" thing to do.
In the case of Chromehounds, voice chat was only between teammates anyway, and teammates were formed in a pre-made unit ANYWAY. so you didn't have to worry about such toxic behavior. To play the game you literally had to be a premade, or playing 1v1 or bot matches.

My push to talk key activates both TeamSpeak and MWO VoIP, so the same information goes to both the group I'm dropping with and the groups/pugs that got thrown into the same match.

I use it myself because I can't type and move my mech (throttle, pedals and track IR here

Are you arguing it should be taken out? Most of you are saying you aren't using it anyway, then why are you in here talking about use of it when you don't use it? You can mute it, most of you do. So why are you even here though? Just to say "I had bad experiences and I don't like it so I don't use it, see I told you so" - ok? Thanks? Why do you ignore all the good stories of VOIP ? So it didn't help you, but helped these other people why do you want to deprive them of that? Isn't helping some people better than helping no people? You use teamspeak anyway right? Why deprive the rest of us?
Can I get a real answer?
Resources? Are you serious? Used elsewhere? Where? Redoing the new paint camo for you to buy?

There's also the ridiculous range of volumes I've heard. Wow. Some people are so ******* loud that I have to turn my game down, but then I can't hear everybody else! And some people are so quiet that I don't hear them at all. Names show up as if people are talking, but I don't hear anything. The game could really use a sort of playback test in the options so these people can hear what they sound like.
I feel like you can't have voice quality this terrible in 2015. Come on.

I'd ignore it, if there wasn't that 1 time out of 10 that it's actually helpful. And it's ESPECIALLY helpful in co-ordinating with teammates in CW when you're not a full 12 man.
I'm not saying remove it, I'm saying that, since it's in now, might as well IMPROVE it. The codec it's using is terrible, and most everyone sounds like crap when they use it. With some people it's so bad you literally cannot understand them. [some people are like this anyway, but still, the point stands.]
Now it WAS something that, initially before implimentation, you could consider it a waste of resources, and I'm illistrating the fact that, well. "I told you so" as it were in regards to how it's being abused more than it's being helpful. and I'm not the only person that had said as much.
But if we're going to have VOIP, it may as well be a damned good version that's worth using...instead, we got bare bones...

Kind Sir, I am terribly sorry, but
WHAT A LOAD OF BALONEY YOU'VE BLOWN OUT OF YOUR POSTERIOR
I've played group/solo with all kinds of people and the situations you've described are so rare (music I've not yet even heard at all; also consider the sounds you may consider unintelligible may actually be a language that you simply don't speak) that if anything you wrote is true, then we must be playing the game in parallel worlds.
That is all, have a good day.

you have to understand, many of these people are the ones who didn't want it in the first place. So of course they are going to nitpick it to death after it's in.

Yeah, I haven't heard anything inappropriate and I play A LOT. No music, no random conversation, no trolling, no....... jerks at all. I mean it's been normal glhf, calling targets and stuff.
The quality of the sound is bad though. I would turn it off, but it has been useful on occasion.

I feel you man, but are you really surprised? PGI tends to have some areas in QA that are lacking. I feel like most content patches have an unfinished feel to it.. Wonder why they don't use the public test realm more often
(See: unpolished maps, collision, quirk balance, map balance, mech models)
And I agree with AThousand, I haven't once heard singing, loud music, yelling, etc. I always see these stories on the threads but I NEVER encounter it. Seriously. The most annoying thing is the quality of VOIP and the trouble with good mic settings/config.
EDIT - And Taffer again, same thing. Where are these trolls...??

In the end we got a couple of mechs left. We could easily overrun them with my armor. Still had SRMS, but main cannon disabled.
Told them to move up via microphone. "Could you guys please move up with me" "Move up please"
I get shredded. Nobody wanted to move up with me.
This is PUG mentality. This is why i want to kill teammates who are stationary. Biggest irritating factor is not thinking about the team.
Do you even speak english?
Sure we have some good matches on the other hand. But fact remains, i am certainly thinking not to bother playing at EU times, but at US times instead because of obvious reasons.
Exactly. Screw the EU time. Sorry.
Having blasts and actually better teamwork at US times.
