Neg, a Kit Fox is a very good mech. It is slow in comparison to most lights, but the trick is to play a Kit Fox like a medium mech. Stick close to your heaviest allies to give them auxiliary fire support (and protect their flanks!). I do best in my Kit Fox while paired up with a Warhawk or Dire Wolf. While my 'big sister' draws the focus of an enemy mech, I have plenty of time to line up my shot and take advantage of any exposed internals. My favourite armament is the Kit Fox A: Gauss w/ 2t ammo + 2x ERML.

I think the Kit Fox and Adder can do well as well (& I may pick both up at some point). The thing that deters most is that they don't play like IS lights...

1- User Disconnected
2- User has really bad ping thus hard time playing game
3- User doesn't have ECM equipt not always but usually
4- Pilot has no clue how to use Kit Fox part of 3 above
Used as a sneaky sniper (JJ help alot), used as a small support unit shielding team with ECM and ANTI-MISSILE umbrellas and adding in its weaponry to the big boys its supporting. A Kit Fox can be a devastating mech. Honestly equipt with ECM and supporting Heavy Assaults and covering them I rarely lost games while working on my Kit Foxes.
Really the only bad of Kit Fox is the Pilot. Kit Fox cant fix that.

I usually just escort the assaults in pug drops. You can get ignored letting you get some nice trades in.

I disagree.
The Kit Fox requires an exceptional pilot (either by sheer skill or just dedication to the chassis/playstyle) to perform well. You can't range too far from your allies, otherwise you'll have a Firestarter chewing on your legs. Doesn't end well. You can't tank well, you don't hit that hard. So that all necessitates excellent positioning and situational awareness, not to mention being able to put every single salvo of your pitiful damage into the same component.
All in all it's not a very good mech. But I love mine (enough to buy a gold one), it took a long time to be able to play them well and it's all too easy to make a mistake though. But that's part of the appeal, it forces you to play well or die quickly.

but why wouldn't you pick ecm, it weights 1 tonne and unlike mlx, that hand usually doesn't hurt your weapon hardpoints, you still can use almost any combination of weapons which a kfx without ecm can, except being a pure streak boat or something with both hands of kfx-d

haha, 14.5 tonne of free space with maxed armor, kfx can pack pretty serious damage, on par with many medium mechs

You're amazingly right.
I love the little mech, and dislike how everyone shuns it.

Well, I guess nobody says you have to have ECM on a Kit Fox, but without ECM it wouldn't be considered the best clan light, likely by anybody.
You can pack bigger guns in an Adder, and Mist Lynx is faster, and jumps. Without ECM, KFX isn't really the best thing for anything.

12T if you fit the "mandatory" equipment (1JJ, ECM and TC1).
Yes, it can pack a respectable weapons payload but you have to factor in heatsinks and general sustainability there too. I haven't had any success running more than 10T of weapons, Wubfox, any more and it's just too hot. Hell, that Wubfox isn't really that great. Much better to run two ERML and LrgPulse (I run ERLL + 2x ERML on my Prime as the best loadout).

You almost make it sound like you know what you're talking about, and like I'm some newbie who disses KFX just because the big boys told me it's bad!
Sorry, when you get to a level where you have to carry matches to get a win, a build with a sustained DPS of ~2.2 isn't a winning choice, especially in a slowish, fragile chassis that doesn't even have ECM to hide it. Also, putting the exact same build into an Adder would give you a mech with the same speed, same size, and a sustained DPS of 2.8, thanks to more true double heat sinks in the engine, and space for a couple external ones. Why not use the better chassis for the build? Now, if the build had ECM in it, it would be something an Adder couldn't do better.
Yes, it's very much possible to do well in a bad mech. And a good pilot in a bad mech will likely kill the bad player in a good mech. It doesn't make a bad mech good, though.
When pilots of equal skill meet on the battlefield, my money's on the one with the good mech. That's why - if you want to win - you should either put the ECM in the KFX, or pick a different mech. Nothing wrong in playing casually, though. Carry on.
