Map appropriate paint options for 'Mechs!

I'd love to be able match camo to the environment of each map (see the My.com game "Armored Warfare" as an example of this in action)

We need some new maps or new versions of current maps. This doesn't mean make maps 4X the size but rather different versions . We don't need another Polar Highlands , unless we are getting 16 vs16 or 24 vs 24 matches. Imagine Alpine Peaks in a summer version , melt snow off mountain making king of hill battles impossible instead of the meeting point for pretty much every game. Throw a bunch of pre-rendered trees from other maps onto it for cover .The base has a road that runs under the mountain ,maybe make a repair/mech area for battles there. Melt Polar Highlands. It would be more like an expanded version of canyon network. Same maps but just reworked for a new gaming experience. You might even have some maps like this already created but not implemented. Why not make a map making event for MWO? Some diehard fans would jump at making maps that you could use in game.

Throw in some temporary game conditions , this could be random or an event like condition. " Due to heavy atmospheric conditions/etc ECM inoperable , severe rainstorms or heavy fog . Make the gameplay more realistic and build tension.

Reduce! are you crazy????
IS already had more powerful 50t mechs and are dominating scouting because of it. clan mechs can't compete with griffins, centurions and crabs being near indestructible as it is!

He said reduce MINIMUM, not maximum. Apparently he is a light pilot.

And for scouting, my Viper tears all kinds of people up just fine.

I don´t know how other Players see it but:
I have 14,482 Hours of banked premium time. which is more than 600 days of it. I regulary buy new mechs to support pgi and Keep the game on running.
Couldn´t you implement something like: Players who did buy at least all Collections (clan an IS) and 3/4 of the mechs in sale get lifetime premium Access as a bonus?

I posted this here also. I would be happy to delete which ever one is in the wrong place. https://mwomercs.com...__fromsearch__1

TLDNR – Add and randomize drop zones, data points and bases. Mix the lances so you do not have all of 1 weight class in a lance.

The main notion is to add drop zones and randomize them. I am not a programmer and so I have almost no idea how easy or hard this would be. I also know there have been a lot of good ideas posted before this and there will be more after it too.

Adding drop zones can add a lot of diversity to the game, where the fights are, and what the best positions are etc. This is especially true on the larger maps.

For skirmish and assault, you could have a lance drop between two enemy lances. The mission becomes a rescue operation (save the lance or as many mechs as you can). If your team is down a lance, it becomes guerilla warfare. For example, you’re in your drop ship, everyone is connected and you are getting ready to drop. A message comes through saying we have a problem (taking fire, fighters inbound etc.) you must eject now – “eject, eject, eject” and you are out, low level dropped on the battle field. You must find the rest of the company and then achieve the mission objective. The enemy is in unknown positions and moving who knows where. The alt tab people must pay more attention to know the mission, and coms become more important. Mech builds would have to change, possibly to more balanced builds. The meta in pug matches would change and pre-drop coms would matter (what is your build and how do I support you?).

For Conquest, randomize the data points and the drop zones. Scouting and guerilla warfare become more important. As data points are found, they appear on both team’s maps. The battle time can be increased or decreased per drop. Most points win.

For Escort missions, randomize the drop zones and the pick-up zone. For the defenders, one lance drops near the VIP. The other 2 are random. The hunters must find the other lances and the VIP. 2 opposing lances may be dropped within 500 meters of each other. Emergency hot drop.

Another idea is delay one lance dropping in. Say the drop ship got lost, was damaged, had to re-route, whatever it was delayed. Then they drop in a previous lance’s drop zone as a reinforcement. While they are coming in, they can hear coms from the 2 lances on the ground.

Mechs in the drop ship could get a benefit of the drop ship’s sensors. For the few seconds, they are in it.

For Assault, use one base with turrets and walls. Drop 1 lance in the base and give them a sensor advantage. Drop 2 lances outside the base (not close), they can either go in the base or move to flank the enemy. Randomize the attacker lances drop zones, they must decide whether to hunt the 2 lances, or attack the base.

Last one is give a secondary objective so that you can lose the fight but achieve the secondary goal. For Skirmish, say kill 10 enemy mechs etc. This maybe too hard for programmers to call a simple change.

These ideas are intended to give quick variety to the game. No new game modes, no new maps. Just adding some variety and uncertainty to the existing options.

I wouldn't mind a matchmaker that actually worked at matching teams according to skill level.

Actually yes, after the Adder CT precedent it is possible, seeing how MLX is one of the most neglected mechs in the game, and for valid reasons Posted Image

I feel like this might not be the best place for this because they are more quality of life things than new features but here we go:

Team Damage: 1) Maybe turn the reticle a different color or different shape (for the color blind folk) when you hit a team mate instead of the enemy. 2) on the other end Id like the "Team Dmage Received" stat to show up at the end screen. Maybe this would trigger people more but I'd like to know that info.

Skills: Please make a button available on the mechlab screen with the mech selected so you can go directly to the currently selected mech. As it is now you have click 4 times just to get to it. Also, please make it so it remembers: 1) sort order 2) last mech you were on 3) which ones are collapsed and which ones aren't. I'm not sure how this is currently set in the PTS with the upcoming skill tree but the same things should apply.

Weapon Placement: Please make it so we can select which weapon goes into which hard point. Annoying when you have to waste tonnage just to get the weapons you want into the hard points you want. OR just make it default to "top to bottom". The first weapon you put in goes to the top hardpoint instead of the bottom.

Store: When you have mechs for sale...please make it so you can click on "Store" and then "For Sale" so we don't have to go through the entire thing just to see them. You kind of do it on the home screen...but the window only shows 4 mechs at a time and isn't sorted at all! It's painful to navigate.

Events: When there's an event going on, I'd like to see in game notifications. Let's say the event calls for a KMDD against an assault mech. Have a little notification in the same place the current info shows up that says "Event: KMDD vs Assault" or some such. The up to an hour sync time for the progress page is also painful. (By the way...I LOVE the events. Gives me a goal instead of just grinding). If you have secret items, fine...don't notify us about those...but the others would be nice to see.

I'd also like to see more day to day events or achievements. The bigger events obviously need more time to complete but you could have smaller day today events. Maybe things that improve the skills of players over time. "You pressed R today" or Streaks (not the missiles) "You survived 3 matches in a row". This would clearly benefit the better players...but like they say..."Get good".

Weapon Groups: Make it easier to figure out which of your 8 medium Lasers are in the right arm...or left arm...or high mount vs low mount. Just make more categories. You already separate arms and torsos in the weapon groups in game. Just mark them RA, LA, RT, LT like you do in mechlab.

Forum: Can we please post in the forums while the servers are down for maintanence? Poor mechwarriors have nothing to do while waiting for the servers to come back up.

I like the clans dropping stars idea. More lore friendly. Obvious argument is that lances are 4 mechs stars are 5. Fix: common denominator 20 vs 20. God that'd be fun.

There's the usual stuff...more maps...yada yada but you've heard that loud and clear.

I am a huge fan of MWO. I have played BattleTech for a good portion of my life. I understand that this is a recreation of a war game. but I think this game would be more appealing to casuals (myself included) if there was some form of PvE mode. like maybe a Blakeist invasion with wave based combat leading to a boss fight of some kind? Im not an expert on BattleTech lore but i think this would fit in well especially with the new time line being put in the game.

I want something to deal with the fact that DISCONNECTS COST THE MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And since >1/2 my matches have a STARTING disconnect on one team of the other, 10 seconds in you can pretty much go.

Hmm, 85% chance that team X is going to win.

It's a waste of time playing those matches

Need bigger matches. why not try Battalion vs cluster sized engagments.

Maybe instead of dropping these leopard class dropships we can have union class sitting in the LZ (make it hard to kill) and when your mech is blown you gotta run on foot back to your dropship to get your next mech.

More awesome maps. Maybe some extreme weather that can reduce visibility to almost nothing. Electro magnetic storms that mess with radar. Make the volcano explode in terra therma and send blobs of lava raining down damaging mechs.

Give us a support unit slot in our drop deck. let us bring VTOLs, tanks and helicoptors to a fight.

If you do above maybe you can add modes like free POWs from a prison.

I want a unit base we can customize and grow for added features. Maybe we can get battlefield trophys to place in them. Head cap a mech? get a part of that mech to hang in your section of the mech bay area.

Solaris 7 Free-for-all ala Virtual World circa 1990.

Take a map like Grim Plexus (lots of nooks and crannies around the edges).
1) 12 mechs per match
2) match runs for 10 minutes
3) satellite acts as UAV (see below)
4) add ~15 elevators around the periphery as spawn points (more spawn points than participants).
5) Respawn after death (20 second cooldown)
6) Respawn occurs at the elevator farthest away from other mechs (prevents spawn camping)
7) upon respawn, you have global UAV access for 15 or 20 seconds. Then you're on your own.
8) start with match score of 500 pts. As you do damage to other mechs, your score goes up. As you take damage, your score goes down (can't go below 100). Rewards based upon match score.
9) No matchmaker.
10) 1 arena for each weight class

If PGI can figure out how to place more elevators/spawn points, increase the number of participants.

The Match does not have to start/stop with the same group/after 10 minutes. Maybe limit it to 3 respawns, then a new player joins from the queue? If you're still alive after 10 minutes, you keep playing until you die? The same arena could run from patch to patch, or the number of arenas could be reduced/increased as the population fluctuates throughout the day.Lobby shows approximate wait time? if wait time gets to 15+ minutes, launch another arena? If wait time drops to under 2 or 3 minutes, shut down an arena.

Just some ideas/suggestions.

1. Add an view previous match. With the ability to watch the game from any player's vision. If it could be a button on the score screen to save the match to my drive that would be ideal. This way it would not auto save and fill the drive up and MWO would not have to manage the data. This would help us to remember the names of players forgotten and to see tactics of other players in game and help newer players to discover how to play certain mechs. It should include chat (and voice coms if that would be possible). Of course it would only be available in quick play.
....

Would potentially help identify cheats, exploits and map bugs too.

They don't have to have high ceilings. The ceiling of the tunnels could be just a little more than high enough for an Atlas to walk. Jump jets and LRMs entirely useless. All close quarters and dodging around corners. It would be very different from any other map.

That's only even remotely fair if you can choose your mech or load out AFTER map selection.
Which I would favour anyway.

1) A check box on the window that pops up when you're awarded a supply cache so you never have to see it again. There is no reason to keep telling everyone how supply caches work when they've already been through the routine 4 times.

2) The option to strip all modules from all mechs. It shouldn't be that hard to do. It might take a while to accomplish, a la the long save times. The game will have to go through every mech you own and strip the modules. The more mechs you have the longer it will take, but that's fine.

3) Get rid of the window that pops up when you leave a match early and click the "Quick Play" button. If I wanted to rejoin the match I was just in, I would have the mech in question selected. When I select a different mech and click "Quick Play", I want to play a quick play match with my selected mech, Just the way it used to work before. it's really that simple.

4) The ability to filter pilot weapon skills by IS or Clan.
...

Yes yes yes to those above

I still think that the best thing, since you are adding a 8v8 competitive mode, is a FFA mode. Just have random spawn points and drop in, with respawns selecting a new mech out of your drop deck. (unlimited lives, if you want to use your DWF 3 times and a MLX once, you don't have to have 3 DWFs.) You can also eject and swap if necassary. FFA

So let's keep this sub-forum active together and post your MWO Features wish-list here!

The "Academy" needs to have a "Practice" mode. (A mode that pits us against one or more AI opponents.)

It will help in many ways:

1. It will give new players some real practice before jumping into QP.

2. It lets older players test out new builds outside of QP.

3. It gives you a test bed for your AI for the upcoming MW5.

Add a check box in audio settings that let you select clan or inner sphere Command voice. Regardless of where your mech originally comes from.

If I go to the trouble of 'capturing' a clan mech on the battle field, the last thing I want to hear in my head phones is the harsh voice of some clanner nut job giving me orders. It totally shatters the suspension of disbelief, and pulls me right out of the immersion/role playing asspect of the game. I do own a clan mech or 2, but I can't enjoy flying them, because I cant change the command voice in my headpones.

i'm sure there are clanners that feel the same way about 'captured' inner sphere mechs.

Another option would be to add a 'tunning dial' to the radio in the mech. Folks could select Clan command channel, inner sphere command channel, smooth jazz, heavy meatal, talk radio. The possabilities are endless Posted Image
