not the point the single pilots in solo drop form lances with other solo pilots just like the lone wolfs and not being apart of the mrbc they do what they want when they wan usually aid a defender or attacker if defender refuses their aid. solo players in turn play out just as a lone-wolf in lore but to a more smaller scale as was in lore

They
FORM LANCES
(which means they form up as a team because they weren't dumb enough to think they could just solo in as a single pilot in a single mech and do whatever the heck they wanted and win)
;)

oh and since we want to go with lore Lone Wolves
The cartel serves as a logistics provider to its individual members who have to purchase and pay the unit for all supplies and services in advance, but enjoy great freedoms otherwise.

"The Committee" (longest members within the wolves) run all operations for the unit. The Committee negotiates all contracts and sets all internal regulation.
 • Each Company, Lance, and sometimes even 'Mech, is considered an independent contractor that owes no loyalty to other members of the Lone Wolves. The Committee demands payment from their employer every day, and each day they pay the MechWarriors who fight. If a MechWarrior doesn't like the deal or wants to take a day off, he is free to do so but won't be paid for that day. Once a MechWarrior is paid, The Committee expects him to fight.[7] Every MechWarrior must pay for every single work that is done for their equipment by the Lone Wolves' technical group.

on top of that, notice how nowhere in there does anythign imply that once they're on the battlefield fighting they all run in opposite directions and do what they want

So let's stop trying to use lone wolves as examples of why "solo" players can do what they want on the field AND expect to do well.

EDIT:
Also notice how they've got a LOT of overhead and fees and take care of maintaining their own mechs and such. So if you want to toss that in how about we toss in repair and rearm fees if we're going to use the lone wolf rhetoric to "support" solo players acting like they're not part of a team in the field of battle.

A Wolf is a predator, a PUG is a "Pick-up-Guy in a Pick-up-GROUP", while self proclaimed "Solo" pilots are steaming garbage who play the game alone. You want to tell everyone you are a "solo" player, go right on head....Identify yourself as garbage.

You could replace the term "Solo" with the term "Seal"....that is accurate (not talking about the Seal's you find in the Navy either....I'm talking about the kind of "Seal" that gets clubbed by any/all real teams of players)

A LONE Wolf works alone and cares only about then self. (Again, you really do not know what you are talking about.)

rough guess: about 70% of players doing CW are doing it as Pugs.
What would people do without us pugs? D:

i pull my weight as pug enough groups know of me. i'm not the best pilot out there but damn sure i'm a welcome addition to any force who's not got a 12 man going.

so should i now stop playing CW as my unit fell apart? i think the OP should quantify he means rookie pilots in trial mechs and new to the game, not solo players like myself who do better than half the guys in units.

Just about every group we put together on Marik is a PUG

I fail to see how anything I've said hurts PUGs. Matter of fact, any time we're discussing CW and MWO and such, the ideas and statements I'm making are shared by many in our PUGs.

Do they all agree that 'CW Best Practices' is to drop 'solo' in trial mechs? What the the consensus on the 'smart' way to drop in CW???

Pretty sure the answer is "no", but that's not what this has been about, has it?

Oh, but that is exactly what this has been about... "Solo" players who can't post 400 damage using the 4 trial mechs and their effect on the game experience for everyone in the drop (including the clueless 'solo' player).

What is the 'best' way to approach participating in CW? Is it dropping Solo in trial mechs?

Is there anyone who wants to stand up and tell us that there is no disadvantage to playing alone over playing with teammates?

Is there anyone who wants to stand up and tell us that dropping 'solo' is somehow doing the players 11 other teammates a favor?

Is there anyone who wants to stand up and tell us that taking trial mechs is an advantage in any way?

It depends on the Trial Mechs and how they are used.

Will be interesting to see this new Queues thing and if it is easier than a simple system suggested a long time ago.

Actually, the answer is
Bring whatever mechs you want, trial mechs included

Plain and simple
Anyone that doesn't believe it is more than welcome to come join us on our TS server.

I've pointed out several times that we had several new players in trial mechs with us over the past week. We did quite well in CW against everything from other PUGs to 12mans.

It's called teamwork ;)

It's called coordination ;)

It's called having a drop lead ;)

It's called calling targets and objective ;)

It's called directing traffic when the sh*t hits the fan and the firefight breaks out ;)

Do those things I listed above and the mechs you bring aren't much of a factor for the most part.

The most "organizing" we do is dependent on the drop lead. Some ask if we can bring certain weight classes and/or support mechs in a certain wave.

Note, I said ASKS, not orders, not demands, not kicks people out of group if they don't have the mechs we want.

That's what building a community means. We help our new players any way we can but we require absolutely no commitment other than "please listen to our drop lead" because that's where all that teamwork and coordination come from.

If you want or desire more regimented drop forces and coordination and mechs and such, each of our loyalist units has their own channel to drop in on our TS server. We run those differently as those are for unit members and some are much more regimented.

No players is required to or coerced into joining a unit or dropping in those formats. Our public CW channels are open to any and everyone who wants to drop with us regardless of personal skill, mech bays, mech builds, etc.
