Pretty sure the answer is "no", but that's not what this has been about, has it?
Actually, the answer is
Bring whatever mechs you want, trial mechs included
Plain and simple
Anyone that doesn't believe it is more than welcome to come join us on our TS server.
I've pointed out several times that we had several new players in trial mechs with us over the past week. We did quite well in CW against everything from other PUGs to 12mans.
It's called teamwork
It's called coordination
It's called having a drop lead
It's called calling targets and objective
It's called directing traffic when the sh*t hits the fan and the firefight breaks out
Do those things I listed above and the mechs you bring aren't much of a factor for the most part.
The most "organizing" we do is dependent on the drop lead. Some ask if we can bring certain weight classes and/or support mechs in a certain wave.
Note, I said ASKS, not orders, not demands, not kicks people out of group if they don't have the mechs we want.
That's what building a community means. We help our new players any way we can but we require absolutely no commitment other than "please listen to our drop lead" because that's where all that teamwork and coordination come from.
If you want or desire more regimented drop forces and coordination and mechs and such, each of our loyalist units has their own channel to drop in on our TS server. We run those differently as those are for unit members and some are much more regimented.
No players is required to or coerced into joining a unit or dropping in those formats. Our public CW channels are open to any and everyone who wants to drop with us regardless of personal skill, mech bays, mech builds, etc.
