6 Million each for how many Seismic Sensors I bought (I am ashamed to say).

I just played again and someone said, I just put up a UAV....
Buddy you just wasted 40,000 CBills!

You're kidding yourself Yellonet.

Once the total confusion stage passes, people WILL cling to deathballing even more than they used to. The less you know about what is going on around you, the better is to just stay in the deathball and roll around the map until you meet the enemy. Without the ability to read the map easily and quickly determine enemy positions, any attempt at leaving the cozy deathball pose a risk on running straight into the major enemy forces you didn't know about. Any attempt to counter a deathball with flanking or a firing line fails if you cannot quickly and precisely determine the enemy position and vector of movement.

Of all effective tactics around, deathball is the one that is the least dependant on situational awareness. If you are not aware of that, you'll learn soon enough.

Don't bring realism into MWO, there's just too many completely unrealistic things already, realism don't belong.

In REALITY- our soldiers on the ground right now have HUDs better than this futuristic walking tank with lasers game. I've worked with the tech myself.

A minimap is a minimap, real or fictional. This is a SCALED DOWN MAP. Not a minimap, not an engagement/local radar.

With this new minimap (it's horrble by the way), my seismic sensor is almost useless as well as air strike!
Please, I want the old minimap back!

Nice try....but it's terrible on every level: the big letters for the bases, disintuitive orientation, the colors and terrain, the lack of directionality of the enemy, the movement of enemy is gone, childlike sized letters for map locations, no land features. The whole map is washed out.... so bad, so bad.

The new map makes me sick.... physiologically.
I was going to spend more money....but now don't even want to play.

Big kindergarten letters for map locales really...what a huge step backwards...huge back step....it looks cheap and unprofessional.

The minimap is totally ******. It no longer turns with you so it's completely disorienting -and the symbols are so ******* small you can't tell the difference between an Assault and a Light unless you full screen the minimap and only an idiot would do that in the middle of a fight.

Did you even read my post? I went over this. In fact, it might even be the whole point. Stop stating the obvious. I'm not inclined to take you guys very seriously if you won't even read.

I can respect that, but no, this can't fall under the same banner.

In this case it's a change that has directly removed functionality, some integral to mech control, and has provided no new or useful functionality. It also suffers from considerable inconsistency.

Of course we will have to give it awhile, no choice on that. But I suspect this isn't going to go down as a loved feature and will inevitably have to receive either a zoom toggle as well as a representation of your torso arc on-map.

PGI patched up their UI a few times. Most of the rage sounded general, but it was about certain aspects that was improved quite quickly. Also, a lot of the rage was for the "column" layout that is and was terrible (it was forced on people with small monitors at first, now nobody has to use it and I bet almost nobody uses).

Also, some people freak out, some criticize in a cultural manner.

Thanks for being level headed. I agree that it will certainly go through some iterations like the new UI did, zoom being in the pipeline already. My guess is it will reach some sort of inbetween.

All the players claiming that a poorly designed interface counts as "depth" need to just stop. You clearly don't know what depth means.

I'm certainly not going to argue with you in this well thought out point.

For today, for tomorrow for the next week and very likely the next month this what we have to deal with. So until it changes, I wanted to make a thread on the best way to play the game with what we have.

There are, at this posting, 22 threads of complaints about the mini map. It seems the message on dislike it going out loud and clear.

This is what to do in the mean time.

Russ has addressed it on Twitter in the last few minutes at least.

A PTS run of 10 minutes could have saved Russ from this:

I have to stop playing causing its actually making me feel lightheaded, a bit like travel sickness. At least the option to hide the mini map would stop that.

Yeah I felt sickness from it as well @TheNef. Because I have no clue where in relation I am space and movement wise.

I couldn't play anymore due to it. And I've never had a game before get me sick to my stomach.

Most probably that inbetween will be basically old minimap but with new mech icons instead of arrows. I can understand they removed arrows, because those eat up on some of the latency that can be used to improve hitreg or allow for more complex heat scale.
