Well since the release of battletech on Kickstarter, I have lost a lot of mojo for MWO. I logged in yesterday wanting to finish editing my stalkers but after doing some work in the mech labs I just logged out and said stuff it. Played MGS V. instead. With this Kickstarter looking really good, a good team of game developers and the creator himself on board, I can see my time here on very short strings. The new IIC mechs and marauder, when they announced these mechs I sure was going to buy em. But I couldn't justify buying anymore mechs to play in the same game modes we have now. Credit still for PGI slowly changing things up but I believe for myself future purchases of mechs from me will no longer be done. I do love MWO. I'm a Mech fan. So it goes without saying. But with Fallout 4 in 5 and a bit weeks and other lovely gaming titles my time in MWO would be cut down more than they already are.
Would I support this game financially? No. No more. Would I still play the game. Sure. But in reality. Myself and a lot of you guys who paid alot of money for all these mechs I think for some of us it's time to zip the wallet up until something HUGE changes in this game. And no. I'm not talking balancing. I give 2 sh*ts about that. To me that's just wasting time. Some of you might say it isn't. But I think it is. The amount of time they could of spent on reworking the 3 current modes for puglandia would of been more beneficial to ALL of us as a whole community.
Any how I'm starting to ramble. Sorry if I upset anyone. But I'm one pilot who won't be throwing money to PGI anymore. I'll see some of you guys out on the battlefield.

Yeah, Fallout 4 is going to be sweeeet!

I'm not quitting MWO though. Just because one can be addicted to meth, doesn't mean that breaks an addiction to crack.

I think i will sit out a little longer untill Beta starts. Thats approx one year before initial release in 2017

PGI has two years to improve. This year was fairly reasonable for PGI. They spend alot of developing time. But however the terrible F2P and the minimum viable product still stays at the same place.

With the release of the invasion, resistance packages and more i personally believe and thats my opinion PGI has no clue how to balance the game. By just looking at PTS (think the damage control away for a moment) it makes my eyes water. Not to mention we still have alot of weaponvalues in a terrible state.

I don't like doomtalking too much. But the only reason i stay is because of some friends (whats left of it), my unit and other people i hang out with our nostalgia.

But when BT hits live servers and it suits me well i most likely play less or quit. MWO is more of a game to spend a few matches a week. BT is going to be a game to feel the immersion, feel your own control of the lore, have interaction with pilots and more.

I think it's the obvious choice where i would fall for. Repetitive stale arena game plagued by balance problems or a game who has everything what you can imagine regarding Battletech.

Back when MW4/Mercs was going strong and the NBT league was ruling the show, we had guys that shot their mouths off and just couldn't wait for Guild Wars to arrive (2004?). Once GW arrived a number of them left to go "chase fairies", but eventually a great many of them came back because like most games today unless there is a in-depth story line with a solid foundation under it (Battletech, Star Wars, WWII, DnD/Diablo, etc), the game is ultimately a fad. Fad games are the "flash-bang!" that certain people need to get their fix.

With all that being said, I am in no way discourage branching out and enjoying the different games available (I play Aces High as well), but live and let live. I disagree with some of the things PGI does as well, but MWO is not my project and I still enjoy it immensely. MWO/Battletech will be here long after the latest and greatest fad game comes and goes (Call of Duty anyone?)

I made the decision to play this game without spending real $ on mechs for myself a while ago. I stick by that. New 'mechs aren't worth funding @ current prices. If they were like $2 each sure.

I'm also ready for them to develop a much deeper game. The basic combat is extremely solid. We need a game on top of that now. And CW is unspeakable terrible. It takes a combat system with a lot of inherent balance (I mean IS vs IS or C vs C) and shoves it into a game mode whose design looks like it comes from Atari.

The Battletech game by HBS won't be out for another 2 years, so it seems pretty early on to jump ship.

Oh yeah. FO 4 will probably eat up so many hours for me if it's anything like the previous games. I don't like that they dumped the skill system, claiming it was 'too confusing for players'. I mean really? Confusing to who? I've been playing RPGs with skill systems like that since I was like 10 years old.

I've played you rarely cause your ELO and Tier are much higher than mine. But I will miss you ROFLStomping me. I see the 2 games as very different. Agree with Sarlic that PGI has 2 years to improve. But even as it is, I enjoy MWO.
I intend to play both. (WHERE WILL I FIND THE TIME!!!!) I enjoy interacting with people. A stand alone game (until it gets to multiplayer) would be for me to hide and enjoy the genre.

to be fair comparing MW4 series to MWO is apples to oranges in basically every regard, now if we could transfer MWO's so so grfx and minimal lag to MW4 well that would be a whole different story :D

Not paying any more.

Not to worry ... I've already spent enough to cover a lot of you quitters for a few years yet. And I'm not going anywhere.

You go play your other games. We'll be here when you come back.

I've played this game for well over a year now (a big enough commitment). In that time I've spent a bit, grinded a bit and enjoyed it a lot.

I have recently however found myself losing interest more and more. The map and game mode limitations, the grind promoting events, and more importantly the limited tactical options ......................... everyone plays the same maps the same way regardless of the actual objective (constant brainless nascarring anyone).

I've had great fun, and I feel I got a huge return on the limited money I spent, but its getting less fun because its run its course for me. I've used up my enthusiasm or the game. Once that happens then things like grinding events, PGI failing to reward players for actually playing the objective, and the thoughtless nascarring become more annoying.

Its probably time to ease back, play less, and see how the game develop's over time. I'm sure I'll be back (if I ever completely stop playing) and I'm a fan of the game, but a break is probably required.

It is healthy to play other games! I'm gonna take a couple months break also at the end of year and check back later how the balance is and other stuff. I basically have nothing to play for atm except player run leagues. I got the mechs I want (those I want are gonna be c-bills long from now), CW doesn't offer anything without MM and consequences and I'm full tier 1 so nothing there either.

We don't owe anything to a computer game so no reason to be apologetic.

yeah tbh MW:O is not going anywhere in terms of gameplay, we are still doing 12 vs 12 maps over and over again, the new maps do not change anything other than give larger emptier maps etc

PGI seems content to keep selling us mech packs to stay afloat and thats it.

I will hang on, for now, P.G.I still got several unseen I want before I bail from M.W.O.
The clock is running, PGI have made excuse after excuse, and now there is going to be a game coming that could wipe 50% off the population of this game on it's opening day.

Additional shipping costs $30 for something I won't see for a year, put me in the not joined the kick starter group, for now, so hanging back from it and waiting to see if it clears the 2.5 mill for the solaris arena.

If it makes the target for PvP to be included I probably won't even bother buying the game, PvP always screws a games balance, it has in every PvE game that's been created, and this will not be the exception

Good and awesome replies guys. All valid and pointful. I'm not quitting either. But spending money on mechs is just a no no now. Not until game modes change etc. I know Russ said he has exciting things to share I'm nov/Dec. We'll see hey.
I know BT won't be out till 2017. But the sounds of the game already excites my innards. Tactics. And strategy. Something that I want more out of MWO. I know ppl need to coordinate things like things but PGI gives us nothing in the game modes to entice ppl to think of how to win. Seems it's either death match all 3 game modes or that dreaded Nascar tactic. If they implement something like respawns in normal game modes it'd make the modes more "viable". Conquest. Only ever win if ppl really play the mode right. Assault. Blitzkrieg by lights and the game is over in less than 3 minutes. Skirmish well that's fine but something needs to be in that to make it less brain deadening.
I know. I know. We don't won't to turn this into cod or by. Etc. But. Having respawns makes those game modes what they are meant to be. Instead of death match all day.
Anyways.
Fallout 4. Chyea!! I want to build my house and super it up like CRAZEH!!!! SO CANT WAIT!!that game looks amaze balls. Oh. And ST. Battlefront. That game looks freaking awesome too...ugh my brain. So many sexy games to play....can we make a universal pole to change the time of days to 48hr cycles? 8 hrs work. 8 hrs sleep. 8 hrs family time. The remaining 24 hrs would be gaming time?? They should do a Kickstarter for that. Hahaha :-)

PGI needs to begin aggressively addressing balance or this game will be dead in a year.

You can feel how sick the community has gotten of the same old song and dance.

More and more mechs, the occasional map, but no improvements to core gameplay.

If they get multi player I would bet on co-op being added.

If it hasnt been annunced yet its a card they are holding.
