In the lore it is usually described as very resilient for a light mech. Considering the lack of JJ and what it means in game, it should have nice armour quirks indeed.

That quite depends on what concept art as we have seen a number of different interpretations. And not everyone of them is pretty or practical...

I beg to differ... it's really quite similar... it's mostly a matter of "Action Pose" I think... There are some definite differences, the right arm, and the laser array in the torso are far and away the most obvious. There's a subtle change on the shoulder pauldron.... But, the head is actually almost identical. The torso array is what bugs me the most visually... Though the right arm is much more blocky... God help PGI if they do that kind of thing to the Marauder's cannon...

o.o What does a 2-headed mythological Greek dog have to do with anything? (Seriously, what is an Orthos in this context? And I want to see whatever it is for the Marauder X3)
EDIT: Never mind, I found it... Badass!

Seriously... this thing is probably just going to sit in my hanger. I've little use for Lights and no use at all for Lights that can't jump.

Highlander IIC however, has no reason to be ugly, and to me, it looks like, as per say yet again, a mech with a conquistador hat along with a bolt action rifle for an arm with knee pads as if mech jousting was taken to the extreme.
I dunno, maybe it's just me, but the TRO Art and Concept art for the Highlander IIC rubs me wrong. The others are fine, it's just the Highlander IIC rubs me the wrong way somehow.
Oh well, at least I remembered that I'm going to be in first person, in the cockpit, so that I won't have to look at it's ugly profile
I would say the Highlander IIC discription you stated and what i am looking at nearly do not match at all O_o
I had to google the hat you refereed to and this is the common results I found...
Note: not all of these have such a 'huge' sail but they are common... now... Looking to the highlander IIC in MW: O and in the TRO and TT...
None of the 3 have the so called 'hat' you refereed to in my mind that is and as an artist and a person who can look at similarities... I could name a huge ammount of mechs that fit the discription better- this includes the resistance black knight, enforcer, atlas, Centurion, Urbanmehc, etc... However it's pretty broad as you seem... but for a hat so round it is slightly odd you compare it to a rather blocky head... if we look at the rims and sail it has more simularities to mechs like the centurion then the Highlander IIC...
This is not me trying to make fun of you and I hope you do not take it that way! But it's your 'patterns' between the cockpit or 'head' of the Highlander IIC and most likely indirectly the traditional highlander tro, to such a head ware... I hope this makes sense to you because the whole profile, form, angles, lines, shape, and depth the highlander IIC has in MW: O, TRO, and TT. Do not match the description you said...
As you said- that could be more of a "might be just myself..." kinda situation...
"Knee guards'? Well I must say that is rather the point. Less prominent in MW: O and in the TRO / TT relative to MW: O's interpretation, but MW: O compared to the TT/ TRO is more accurate to what it would be functionally and "Knee guards' is quite common in previous games and many other mechs. I should mention the Atlas, Man'o'war, Summoner, etc all got 'knee guards' in MW: O but went with a flat rectangular plate more then a circular one. This is also part of my comment with the art differentiation with the IIC's to the rest as the IIC's seem to like more circles... ie look at the Jenner IIC's whole cockpit...
The gun?... well it's true it's the most gunliest gun in MW: O, but ironically isn't that what everyone begs for? ie what the warhammer/ marauder should and will have and what the Catapult K2, Jagermech, panther, and wolfhound really need?
I remember the release of the image and many people are complaining they are much better then the normal highlander and it is very sexy. I personally do not consider it the best of everything but I do like it... I should note I hate most gun-style mech parts like on the Battlemaster tro so it's interesting to see that this doesn't rustle my jimmies...
Battlemaster tro: (not the one I was looking but it looked more hand held gun style)
However I can see the feel that some may have there jimmies rustled. (Note: knee pads~)
In terms of art and humour and such many people have difference prefferences.
Some see the gargoyle as sexy, others want to ban it until it's remodelled due to how it burns there eyes. Some love the looks of timberwolf, others hate it... etc. You may dislike it for features that you dislike which is fine (however the whole hat thing is a bit confussing to say the least for my point of view... which makes it seem more like a "it's just you" situation ^^; )
Mech Jousting? sad to say but Mech jousting is a thing... in fact, the Behemoth/ Stone Rhino a famous clan assault mech and can be pictured as an IIC mech of a failed super heavy IS mech it had it's arms reinforced to be able to bassically joust...
Also most mechs with a weapon or pointed end instead of a first can 'joust' or jab with that instead of puniching... defence against ramming and puniching and stabbing attacks does go a long way... oh and due to clan mechs deadly aim (or just watching the first few episodes of battletech) getting blown up due to unpretected joints is annoying...
I wounder if the round knee is a Origins only thing or is it on the standards too... guess we'll have to wait and see.
