Ever heard of Artillery strikes? Works like a charm to scatter the roaches, and in the time they reassemble, you're already in deep cover on one of the sides... and from there.. LURM..

So as I understand it, please correct me if I am wrong, I should consider the following things when in CW.
Using a sniper from a strategically superior high position and attacking the enemy from extreme range is cheating. check
Having more than one sniper in a strategically superior high position attacking the enemy at extreme range is an exploit. check
Taking up defensive positions in order to draw enemy into effective firing ranges is cheating. check
Having multiple players performing that same strategic defensive action is an exploit. check
So if I decide to use a sniper build in CW I should only attack the enemy if they can attack me back too. check
OK clear on snipers.
Now for brawlers
Using similar logic as presented by the OP, am I correct in the following?
Pressing the Clanners with my IS brawler in order to force them to overheat and shut down is cheating. check
Having multiple players press the Clanners in order to force them to overheat and shut down is an exploit. check
So when brawling Clanners I should not press the enemy, instead give them a chance to cool down so they can have a fair chance to kill me.
As I don't have any Clanner mechs could someone let me know how many alphas a typical Clanner mech can get off before overheating and how long should I wait before attacking.
Would a count of 3 between shots be enough?</div>
Now for lights
Again using similar logic presented by the OP, again please confirm for accuracy.
Using my IS light mechs superior speed to overtake a Clanner mech is cheating. check
Using multiple IS light mechs superior speed to overtake Clanner mechs is an exploit. check
So as to not to offend the OP or any other MWO players I should probably just throttle down on my combat lights, lets say keep them under 120, would that be sufficient?
Just a couple more things I would like clarification on if you would be so kind.
If I sneak up on an enemy, should I warn them before firing?
Should I inform the other team if my team plans on using any of the above cheats or exploits?
I have fairly quick reaction time, may I defend myself immediately or could my faster reaction time be a considered a cheat? Should I count to 3 then shoot, would that be fair?
Is there anything else that I may do to help the OP's or other enemies gaming experience to be better?
Would recklessly charging all 4 of my mechs directly into your enemy fire improve your game experience? I could come to your drop zone, then you wouldn't even have to look for me.
I could remove all my weapons and just run around or stand still if that is too difficult.
It is so nice of the OP and others in the MWO community to help us new players with these informative forums.
Enabling us to better understand the community and how we may properly play this game to further their personal enjoyment.
I would like to thank the OP and any others for their informative responses to this post.

You can't go into their drop zone, or at any position where you can fire into their drop zone. That's spawn camping, which is pretty much just cheating. Doesn't matter if they are slow in coming out from there and have no troops anywhere but in there, you still can't do it.

This simply isn't true. Many games don't allow you to enter the spawn at all. MWO does, for a reason.

It did stop dropship farming on maps like Taiga and Sulfer(where you took a grid and killed off 4 people). All they had to do was have everyone spawn in the same spot.
However, they put the spawn so far back on Taiga that slow IS mechs cant even get to the gate in time on counter attack defense
Spawn camping on snowballed games is still a thing but you also don't want people able to hide where you can't get to them.
The spawn farming was the main thing that had to be fixed but I dunno if they went about it the best way.

I'd bark at those incompetent fly-boys for dropping me into an obviously hot drop zone when they shoulder zero risk for hovering over a dozen enemy mechs. o.0

The diffrence between sulfur and boreal new spawn is noticeable. While you may can jump up the ridge with a light on sulfur no heavy or assault can jump up. It is also really small so you doN't have a fallback and reaproach by walk. On boreal its more like a ramp you can climb up with whatever you have and back off by walking into cover. The way to fix it on spawnpoints like boreal is to make it high and small as it is on Sulfur. Problem fixed.

Would this be "cheating"? Or would this be a "legal and viable" tactic?

Its not a map exploit, its reachable by every mech and doesn't even require jumpjets. It doesn't provide mechs with phantom collision boxes that block incoming fire while allowing outgoing fire.

If you get spawn camped oh well don't let them get the upper hand. Clans all do this to me and frankly it doesn't bother me since by then we've usually lost and it ends the match quicker. Plus I can sometimes get a couple kills before I go down. If not oh well. Relax and enjoy being clan Most of the stress I see on IS is plenty of other issues and people just getting to pissy and blaming others. More positive feedback and commanding goes a long way. You can tell pugs and such why something was not working but berating them does no good.

Destroying the gun renders it unusable when you have taken the planet. In lore, destroying something as valuable as these orbital cannons would be considered a war crime.
