I thought of taking out my Catapult or Trebuchet for LRM, but direct fire is really better. Allmost all points so far have been done with my new 3 AC2 SHD-H
Question: The applejack pattern for Cicadas, does it also apply for the CDA-3F(L) with its special camo system? For example I know that the Loyalty-Zeus cannot use the faction patters that came with the resistance packs for the other Zeus in my mechlab.

Would prefer the '100 match point' requirement was not there, but I am glad that the match point is nice low (just 100) instead of some of the previous, higher requirements like 250(?).

This requirement is there to prevent someone from essentially doing a kamikaze run, hoping to do the most damage to one mech before dying.
Since you'd have to do ~200dmg to get a match score of 100 (on a losing team) you cut out that strategy for all but the highest damage dealers.
Most mech just can't run in solo, crank out 200 damage before being focused down...

I think it is a great metric for a challenge. The kill stealers get nothing and the folks who carry the brunt of the battle, whether you see it in the final score or not, get rewarded.
Well done, PGI!
Hope we have more challenges like this one.

While I can understand your sentiment concerning new players, this is the first time PGI has used this metric for a challenge. The fact that there was a bug in it, shouldn't be too surprising. If only we all were as perfect as we expect PGI to be.
The remainder of the event should now run smoothly and hopefully we will see more of this in the future.
To be quite frank, I'm tired of kill stealers and having my own teammates heap the friendly fire on me as they desperately try to kill someone.

I have not been here long enough to know how PGI have or have not run other contests I am only basing my observations on this one and it does not sit well so this is the kind of thing that makes new players question the continuing play of games when the players has to spend money to get everything. Also this is the kind of thing that makes players to to the Dark side and become some of those players that you have said you don't like only to get ahead in the game.
When you have tons of code and maybe 3 people working on something. A simple X or Y can throw off something. You would be surprised. Pull up a webpage code for this thread and try to find something in it. Your brain will go cross eyed if you stare too long. Until your in a programmers shoes, then you have no idea. Been there myself.
As far as retroactive scoring. If the data isn't there, then how do you give players what they earned? No way to do it. Other than a blanket +5 / +100 / +11000 to what ever scoring to compensate the problem. Or just lower the goal posts down a tad. Like 1 each level. That would work and "fair". Thank fully the bug was discovered early/fixed and not last day.

Every challenge will create some unsportsmanlike game play. But I do like the unknown variable of this challenge. You don't really know if you got that point til the end. Yes it caused everyone to bring out the bruisers, but not being able to know I think has caused players to stick more with the team.
Past events with a straight kill requirement caused people to kill one mech, then disco. This time around it feels a little more right to me.
On a side note I wish all new players a fond welcome, and hope to drop with you. Good luck whether your on our side or in our sights.

With regards to the updated event, maybe an extension please? I personally lost a few KMDD but due to my hectic work schedule, those few were precious. #ExtrinsicallyMotivated #Greed #NoHarmAsking
I hate LRMs, but right now they are ok. More then often I find that LRM centered mech are incapable of stopping me if not caught in open field. Can't count how many times I sneaked up upon LRM lance and decimated them all by myself during this event. Close combat trade off is immense specially for IS mechs.

You want to make the most damage on an enemy. You don't have to land the killing blow, as long as you made most of the dmg to bring him down.
You - did 55% dmg
Someone else - did 45% dmg
Enemy is dead, you did most dmg, congrats!

I have been in software development for 10+ years on a VB6 (yes that's VISUAL @!#!$%$@#% BASIC !@#$!@$# SIX) project that is over a million lines long (hence employer's reluctance to move on).
I know all about the ridiculous number of dependencies, variables, and yes... assumptions that have to be made when implementing something new. It could very well be easy to say "Well, Kills, Assists still count after death so KMD should too" or to not even ask that in the first place because it was assumed.
This I can overlook, and for the record new people, you will see a lot of complaints from players in these forums and some *will* be legitamate, but PGI does actually try and they often even listen. They have gone through quite a bit of effort to rebalance the game recently and while people disagree with the results, they went through quite a bit of time and effort trying to make it work and get community feedback.
