I love playing my HBK-4SP but i have abysmal stats in it. I just don't understand, it has a loadout and playstyle similar to other meds i own and he is the only one that can't make it. I don't care when a mech has low kdr as long as it has a win ratio above 1, the SP has neither. That's another part that's weird, when one of my mech do really badly in kdr he usually has a good win ratio, not the 4sp, he gets nothing. Among all my meds brawler he's also the only one that is always stuck somewhere or can't go up somewhere.

My Saint Yves Blue could get an honourable mention but there is no love just an obsession to make it work and i can't. The other VND do ok though.

While I do not consider myself anywhere near the same level player as Bishop or Jman in Hunchies, (I definitely share their enthusiasm for HBKs!) about 8-9 months ago I was one of DHB's hunchback go to pilots. (took a break from the game, had a baby daughter and all that. ) Only the 4SP was approved for CW but it still remains my WORST performer too.

Much better performance out of my "Founder's build" Grid Iron, or my 4H. Top performer is the 4P of course, Partyback!

Wouldn't happen to have MW2, 3, 4, or the MC games thusly, would you? (never could get dosbox MW2 to work on my system and Win10 has screwed my MC2 and MW3,4 playing up, big time)

oooh..they have battlechess! Used to love that, lol.

the SP and H were the two I could never click with. I still remember the 4SP being the "go-to" Medium (along with the 4P, another one I never loved) in Closed Beta. Back then I had my Founder's Hunch, and flat sucked in it (in fact that was what caused me to upgrade to legendary founder.... wanting the Catapult and Atlas).

My go to in CB was actually the CN9-AH. And when they killed it off to introduce the YLW, it. Wasn't til 2 years ago I gave my HBK-4G a try again... and it just insta clicked.

If I won't drive a K2 or MAD-3R without PPC arms... do you think I could do so in a 6R and still respect myself in the morning?

I'm glad you made this topic Bishop.

I'm doing TERRIBLE in my Whammies. Like, really, really bad, sub 1.0 KDR in them. Only using an XL engine with the Black Widow, but man do I pop my CT fast with 75 armor on the front.

I already moved PPCs to the nipples, and it is helping a little. Not that I love hill humping. I just hate hopeless suckage.

I guess its a shock after liking the Marauder and finding it easy to do well in them. Maybe the MADs just had really great hit boxes? I dunno.

For whatever reason, I am no Whammy pilot.

I'm gonna pilot my classic mechs into the grave. Just apparently not very well. :P

was running that on my 6D, just never really gelled for me. Also haven't really found any durability/survivability advantage to STDs on em yet.

Ah, I'm running 7SPL and 2 PPC on my 6D. Personally I don't find the slower speed enough of a disadvantage to go XL and once my armor is stripped I'll deliberately sacrifice which ever side loses its arm first to keep fighting just that much longer but to each their own.

or like me, you're going to get to that grave really fast.......

Yeah, I tried STD Engines and died jsut as fast, inpart because I then had no firepower.

I just boot to XP on a different hard drive when I want to play legacy stuff that doesn't get along with Win 7/10. Trying to get some of that stuff to work on a modern OS is a bigger headache than it is worth for me.

That site is sweet though (also loved Battlechess on the C64!), i still find games on there from my childhood that I had totally forgotten about.

I find the lack of maneuverability and twist to be almost instant death.

The flipping atlas. Love the thing but I would be better off mothballing it instead of handicapping teams.

If you've got the space you can just set a partition up for windows XP.

Maybe I'm a Spartan at heart, or read too much Captain America as a kid.. but I find my Shield one of my most important weapons (though shield bashing is generally frowned on in the SCA) but most later period Euro fighters are rudely shocked to find out that a good spartan was just as deadly with his aspis as his dory or xiphos......Posted Image

Oh, i do love good shield bashing Posted Image Still have some stuff from my youth hobby hanging around.

Apart from good and deep CW, melee attacks are my most wanted feature for MWO.. Hatchetman, Axman... Atlas' fistfights..
Maybe one distant day... But probably not.

Probably not, but at least look :)

Here if you can stand an XL engine, plus it has your PPCs with some short range protection...

Hey Bishop.

Try this loadout:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2c3bf1bbf42a3aa

I know it sacrifices one of the PPC's but I think it still keeps the spirit of the mech and the way it functions without having a second arm PPC that is essentially useless due to heat concerns and the inability to use one side when trying to poke from the side of a building.

This way you can keep half your mech in cover and volley a PPC and AC10 (which seem to function pretty well together) while trading early on. If anything comes close you have a pretty nice punch and can handle the heat when you no longer fire the PPC. This also has a STD engine so lose half your mech after trading you can still finish off the damaged targets that try to move in on you.

Let me know if you get a chance to try it. This is just my theorycrafting based on your existing loadouts and trying to keep the functionality of the mech the same while allowing you to alter your playstyle somewhat as that is what fels like is necessary to turn a mech you are doing badly with into a better experience.

XL engine version since you mentioned you liked XL's in them:

People are always so shocked when you do things like bash them in the face with your shield, or disarm them using a well timed strike when they strike the shield.

"You used that as a weapon. That's not fair"

"You are dead, complain to someone else about your lack of understanding"
