Haha... I think I'd put my money on Gyrok here, rookie.

LRMs will hit the mech at a higher value of spread than max spread in the effective range of the SRM. Since when do LRMs mostly hit the CT?

Since they are LRM5+A. 4xLRM5+A + 2 ER-LL shots (not accurate, I'm not that good) down a relatively fresh CN9 via CT loss in less than 400 m of said CN9 sprint.

Have you used SRMs lately? The Oxide threads aren't a hint of anything at all?

I dunno about you, but SRMs are much better now with the velocity boosts (not necessarily in hit detection, but whatever).

I'm not always running true meta, but you are totally not aware of the current meta.

I love SRMs... I should be running more of it if anything.

I use them on JM6-A from time to time and know their power, yet prefer LRMs on more occasions (and yesm not in a back row, and try to get my own locks). But Oxide (consider speed and agilty) has less problems to run in and out of SRM range. I in assault regularily see those 'hit and run'. Atlas, however, is slow.
Btw, JR7-IIC is a nastier thing from assault point of view of from what I got int the matches, not sure I have a big samle.

Again... pathetic and selfish.

Counter-argument... If you have no interest in playing within the spirit of the game, go play something else. This could go round-and-round all day.

you're right, everyone should be playing the best meta mech with the best meta build otherwise the team is being hurt by whomever is not. or is the spirit of a game that boast about it's customization to let someone build whatever they want? i grew up playing hockey, everyone on the team had different equipment, some people couldn't afford to pay the high prices for the best gear but nobody complained. it's a team game with individuals who play for fun. if you're not playing for fun than that's a bummer

It is pretty easy to do good damage in the underhive with a bad build...

And of that's where he's playing, then it's effective for him. And anyone else head playing with is in the Underhive too.

There is a mile of difference between meta and bad.

An Atlas needs to be up front - a long range atlas with a AC20 is bad.

If you want a long range sniper mech there's a lot of options. Gauss erll Crab being a good example. A LRM assault though is generally bad. A LRM atlas is actually bad, not just "not meta".

So it'll draw scorn from the people on its team who wanted to win and had a 100 to mech carrying a 70 ton mechs firepower, of which 1/2 is effectively usable with the other.

meta this and meta that... bet there isn't much of a flavor between the lot,
all I am hearing is "don't bother with anything other than a single type of mech load out and just make them all up with identical gear or else its a bad mech"

I also getting tired of the hive thing as well, all the tier crap like that just proves that the system more or less just creates the holy than thou mentality and proves my point about how stuck up and the I think I know it all and better then everyone else if they are not in my tier.

Besides they proved my point about them being skilled enough to use it if they see that mech build as a threat to them.

I know some people like to use the holier than thou mentality (it happens), but the reality is that some people haven't really experienced what they're not aware of. You are allowed to refuse to believe what is said, but some people genuinely haven't seen the gambit and others completely ignore it and at the same time complain about it instead of analyzing it and themselves.

Can't convince people that don't want to listen.

Also, just saying the "not skilled enough" in a bad build is just laughable. How about you run that build, and I'll happily duel you.

I know exactly what the helpless feeling is when I run certain/bad builds... I simply choose not to build and play helplessly.

I dare you guys to use this build OP is using, please tell us how well that goes If you can easily get 500 - 600 damage then I'll concede, I tell you right now though none of you will break 400 it would be extremely lucky.

I think the reason OP has ANY success at all is because he's at the point where you go from scrub land tier 4 and 5 to 2 and 1 and still has noobs who can't handle LRMs.

Been using a similar build on a Dire, haven't gotten less than 500 damage in a long time. I did downgrade to LRM 15's and now use LRM 10's. I also accept the challenge though it isn't much of one.

Anyone that refers to themselves as a "pro" regarding a video game , while referring to others as scrubs in said video game , you know has such a huge social circle of friends , great career , and is just hounded by the women,

Dear god I'd pay serious money to see what some of these "Pro's" look like in real life.

If you like it, use it. The anti LRM brigade is out in force on this thread. I don't understand the hate really. LRMs despite their limits are still quite effective in the solo queue. I look forward to the coming LRM apocalypse in the form of massed LRM5 archers which will blot out the sun...

Some people in this thread that want to report?! people for using what they consider bad...well gee better not take out my army of less than meta mechs (believe you me, I have lots) in fear of reporting. Like how dare I take a Commando, Locust, or Mist Lynx to battle...

1) Yes, it's your mech.
2) It's OUR team, not your team, our team.

So when someone brings an Atlas that isn't even properly using their tubes, and the mech is literally incapable of fulfilling the one role that an Atlas is built for (Wrecking ball tank leading pushes) - while you might feel you "did fine" everyone else needs to play around the fact that they have one of their assaults in the back of the team safely lobbing LRMs.

So feel free to play whatever you want, but your team mates will probably feel equally as free to let you know when your personal choices directly affect them as well.

Its a two way street.

The number of Atlases I see with the "correct" build (brawling) dying before doing anything is much higher than the number of those with LRMs.

To OP, I love my LRM DDC. It runs about 20 LRMs, 2 UAC 5, 2 ERLL. I've seen 2 games with a PSR drop with it out of the past 100. People are just gonna be {Richard Cameron}, if you're good with it, it'll show. Even then though they probably won't accept it. I've had games where I had over 1000 damage, 6 kills and KMDD (so in other words, I killed half the enemy team MYSELF), spent all my UAC ammo and was down to one ERLL for the last kill and still got "lol LRM Atlas".

It's like the rule of the internet where the best way to get an answer is not to ask the question, but to give the WRONG answer. People love to tell others they are doing it wrong. And then they wonder why all we see are laservomit meta builds.

Dude , you know their excuse is going to be you weren't playing them , the gods of MWO that know better than all and can't be wrong.

Btw that was awesome , can't await XnameissocoolihadtoaddanX to respond as you easily did what he said can't be done.

It's not not so much about lrms as it is an LRM atlas. The Atlas is a 100 ton brawling assault. Sitting in the backw with one wastes your tonnage. 1/2 the weapons it carries function poorly with the other half.

It's a bad build. In and of itself that's fine. Play what you enjoy.

Your team though is going to legit complain when you make a bad call (like a bad mech) that impacts the whole team.

I miss being able to play goofy builds. Since Tier 2 bringing "fun" builds is a good way to cripple the team. Really sucks since I get bored of the meta builds.

Speak for yourself, my fun builds have been just fine. My non-meta fun build WHM got me into the top 50 during the last tournament. My non-meta fun build XL400 Boars Head got me 21st in the "here comes my hero" tournament a while back. My non-meta fun build DWF-B got me my first 1300+ dmg match.

In solo, you can get away with a lot more stuff that shouldn't work. Once you ever decide to show up in group queue, this is where people complain about it being "too hard". There's a good reason for that (hint: people don't realize how little teamwork or intelligence shows up in the solo queue).
