The two mediums I'd suggest are the Coyotl and the Phantom. Metus has already introduced the Coyotl so...

The Phantom would run at about 151kph & has ECM. The main cons are it's lack of tonnage & slots but it has enough to boat Cspls, ERSlas or ERMlas. It'd actually be a good mech.

The Kingfisher is clearly the assault you're looking for. It'll be cheaper thanks to it's use of a standard engine. It's also got ECM but unlike a certain Dwolf variant it won't be op, it'll be solid.

Because many people will probably simply check two important numbers:
  • Daishi - 50.5 tons tons of pod space available
  • Kingfisher - 24 tons of pod space available

Which is why the Kingfisher would be a better candidate for ECM, to give it something interesting. A tanky, ECM Clan assault mech, rather than giving the Big Daddy of firepower in MWO ECM. I dunno, I would be okay with both frankly! But, there would definitely be complaints of power creep if PGI were to release an ECM Dire. Are the DWF-C omni-pods in the game files btw? Someone can probably answer that.

Also, by Dire Turkey I was referring to the Turkina, which is essentially a Dire Lite, and is the only other logical Omni-mech assault to include in this next pack. TBH, I would like both in the game for completion/lore reasons, but I am more interested in the Kingfisher.

Fitting as you are a Ghost Bear right now.

It would still need Ice Ferret level quirks to be useful, because that is what the Phantom is, a lighter/faster/weaker Ice Ferret. It would have ECM and asym ability, but would still lack the firepower just like the Ice Ferret, and suffer from even less DHS. It would probably be relegated to just small laser boating (cSPLs or ERSL) which does give it a bit of an advantage over the Ferret (purely because the Ferret lacks enough hardpoints).

Don't get me wrong though, I love the Phantom in TT (8 ERSL and a TComp, yes plox), but it would be even more limited than the Ice Ferret and Viper in what it could pull off.

One or two random ideas:
1) After-nerf ECM is not that magic box that it used to be, when you could have cover the big part of your team.
2) Talking purely about my personal experience, in heavy class I see a lot of Mad Cats and Cauldron-Borns than Lokis, even though Loki has the advantage of ECM hardpoint. People are simply taking 'Mechs with a lot more firepower and armor.
Sometimes people even don't equip their Loki with ECM even if they could, because they don't think it's especially worth taking - they take more weapons or heat sinks instead.
3) Yes, Kingfisher can be more "tanky". The problem is, what good is such "tankiness" for. In PuG, when you are left in a 'Mech with both arms and side torsos missing, and with one or two energy weapons in CT, the game is practically over for you. And in CW? In such situation the majority of players eject and take a fresh 'Mech.

I'd like to see either the Coyotl or the Huntsman my self. The Coyotl because the Clans currently lack a mech in this weight range that is actually decent, and the Huntsman because it's basically a 50t Crow with JJ and is overall a solid mech.

As for the other weight classes, I really do not know. Night Gyr for Heavy would be good and it's a daka boat (I like daka) But as for Light and Assault, I'm not sure. The only mech I really hope never gets in game for personal reasons would be the Firemoth. I'm sorry but I just can't take this mech seriously as it looks like a disgruntled monkey when it runs around.

...sure by all means mate why not a coyotl/phantom and kingfisher , i would have no problem with either of em , after all i am not looking for an OP mech...i am looking for a solid cheap and usable design that would lead the clans out of the overuse of heavies in an assaults role that they were never designed to do so , and in which they forced to do , due to the lack of any other better options...us clanners need a striker and a (for all intentds and perposes) "practical" assault.

B ) A cheap assault of any tonnage

People have already suggested the Kingfisher, so I would like to present the http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Blood_Kite It is a Blood Spirit mech, which means it is dirt cheap, it has my favourite kind of design (weapons, weapons everywhere!) and generally decent, if not too diverse armament. As for the variants, I believe after the Shadow Cat P precedent it should hardly be an issue. Anyway, this is the only cheap Clan assault that I know of.

That Blood Kite art on sarna, holy crap. So much hulking badassery and general meanness. It's like a wall of firepower held by a mech. Shame there's only one variant listed on Sarna.net PGI could jury-rig up another variant, then it'd be Blood Kite time, all the time.

The Blood Kite would be sweet but it's basically already set that we're getting an omnimech pack because of a Twitter vote.

Oh I know it'd be limited, the only thing it'll be able to do is boat lighter energy weapons, basically a 10t heavier cheatah. However I doubt it'll have the hitbox issues that the ice fridge has.

The Fridge doesn't have hitbox issues, it actually has great hitboxes.....they also would have a similar body setup, so it is very likely any perceived issues would be shared.

Actually the 10 ton heavier Cheetah is the Viper, they go the same speed, have JJs (though the Viper would jump twice as high in MWO) and have nearly the exact same free tonnage. The Phantom only shares the ability to mount ECM.

I kinda said it before, in the heavy and assault Catagory there is not much there for Clans pre 3053, some but they all only offer cool mech factor, not much in a new mech design/concept they all would be simular to an existing mech like Direwolf and Executioner. Both are ok to good. Heavy wise there are a few more options but still it's like Night Gyr and Nova Cat then what? Wave 4 I think will be rather unimpressive, some what like what wave 2 was. Mediums and lights will be decent (come on Firemoth!). Maybe Hellhound based off MW4's redesign?

We will see, really till Nova Cat, Madcat Mk.II, Blood Asp, and Cougar come along, I don't see many interesting Clan mechs left.

yes thats pretty close to what i had in mind conserning assaults....but plz dont let me be missunderstood here , i would also be hapy with a marauder iic or a supernova , and with anything else that would be cheap and manageable enough to be fielded in a "fast , cheap and furious" way .
Try to understand this guys....i never wanted or liked to be in a unit for an assortment of reasons....thus , if someone would try to describe me (and the majority of the players in this game i believe ) , i would be like a "veteran pug" (not even a skillfull one) . Which practicaly means that i need to depend only on me alone , and to what ever mech i can put on the battlefield.
That means tha as a pug , i need a chassis cheap and dependable enough , to just grab some stuff from my selves , equiped it with , and be a usefull asset to my nation/clan (most of all) , and to my team , under any circumstances....i know that many ppl might disagree with my aproach , but i am pretty sure they would disagree even more with the random use of bad trial mechs from pugs in CW , due to the cost and questionable performance of any other option .

If Wave 4 looks something like:
- Fire Moth/Fire Falcon
- Viper/Phantom/Coyotl
- Nightgyr
- Kingfisher

It'll be pretty solid. Perhaps not as good as Wave 1 or 3 but better than 2.

I might buy like the 1 or 2 tiers of those maybe 3rd. But I would be hard pressed to find that worth $120. That being said I hope they reduce the price of Clan waves, though I have my doubts. And no another IIC wave would be meh i would pass, but a Battlemech package could be nice. We just are starting to lack Mechs, we got maybe 2 more wave packeges. And yes they have tons of IIC options but come on, get some real clan mechs in first you know? Trust me an urban IIC would be rather amusing to have, but wouldn't be very serious to buy with real cash and own.

That is why clans will need to be jumped before IS imo, IS has plenty and I don't want to wait for 3 more IS packages either.

Besides that one lol, still in the end not much different from the Dirwolf, not saying it's not bad, but it's not a hugely different mech. Well not counting the missile boat that makes even an Archer blush. There just isn't alot left for clans after wave 4. Even pre 3060 we have 1 wave worth there with Cougar, *Insert Med*, Nova Cat, Blood Asp.

You forgot the Hellion, which is more interesting than the Cougar (because a light slower than the SCrow is sad). The Cougar just gets in for nostalgia reasons.
