What if I ALREADY unlocked all "big four" faction paint colors? C'mon! We have the Nova Cats, Steel Vipers, and Diamond Sharks. Even if we can't use them as a playable faction, we could at least have their camo, colors, or cockpit items! >_<

Yes plez!

That's because striker units tend to favor other striker units. You often seen a one of two drop dec combinations in TT, either the slow push/pressure with mobile heavies/mediums or slower and fat gunbags with really fast backstabbers like the Phantom (C or E).

Like I said, I'm just not a fan of the Phantom over all, it feels out of place in the Clan line up in TT, much like the Black Lanner, too much was given up for speed, I like everything to have a purpose or a theme in my forces.

That only really leaves the Pouncer then since the Viper is pretty much the same story as the Phantom.

And the Coyotl is extinct.

At least the Pouncer has the omnipod variety to maximize the ~14 tons of armor corrected pod space. Plus comes with 12 DHS base. I still think the Pouncer would do well in MWO. Like a lighter, faster Nova with a smaller profile. And, to be clear, the Nova isn't a bad mech. It is just an oversized one. Not for long, though!

The Coyotl is only extinct, due to the fact it was thought up years later for a supplement that came out long after TRO 3050. They needed a reason for the Dragonfly to be in there and not the better mech. in TT more than half the time the Coyotl will kill the Dragonfly, it has a higher BV, better hole punchers found in the ERPPC (Prime) or LPL (Alpha), slightly better armour values, all for the loss of one hex of movment...

It will be the Viper though. That's the "fan favorite".

I don't care as long as it isn't the Black Lanner. Mechs we need first, before terrible mechs we don't. Meh or not, at least the Viper fills that 40 ton gap. :\

Yeah it barely lost to the Zeus. So Cyclops... STD360 eh. I guess just AC20 and SRMs? Maybe drop it down to a 350. I think there is a variant with a few more energy hardpoints as well.

Actually I don't know, the Cyclopes that have a Ballistic and Missiles only have 2 missile hardpoints and one is in the CT. That would make it hard to do AC20 + 3 SRM6 w/ Artemis :( Hardpoint inflation is needed!

There is a variant that would probably be able to boat missiles better but it doesn't have a ballistic slot.

But it's extinct and thus wont be put into the game. Too obscure and not enough people know/care about it. Might as well ask for the Woodsman or Rampage while you're at it.

Technically the Woodsman isn't extinct. It's a design that is basically only used by the Dark Caste, however. I wouldn't be adverse to the Woodsman being in the game, honestly, but it is an "interesting" choice, as opposed to a good or necessary one. Not a terrible mech, though. Not like the Crossbow....

Please, if we want to split hairs then we can just say that no mech is truly extinct as there will always be a way for the writers to bring it back called the "discovered hidden cache" method.

Extinct may not be a limiting factor, obscurity yes, lore to it being extinct may be ignored if PGI see value in it. It's not like PGI is sticking hard to lore now a days anyways....

Lore wise the Clans should stomp the IS hard, but they are now close to parity.

Lore wise we should have the Federated Commonwealth, but PGI chose to keep House Steiner and House Davion separate so that more groups could fight in CW.

The list goes on, for lore things that PGI has chosen to ignore.

Do we know if we can even have the Fire Moth in game yet? It is definitely popular and fills the 20 ton gap, but the speed thing.... is that still an issue? Maybe with the possible engine upgrade... Maybe someone can tweet Russ. Russ has gotten fed up with my fiending for mechs.

Otherwise I'd say the Viper is the winner for the medium. Russ said in the town hall that he has "6 mechs that he wants to release" and needs to pick which ones for Wave 4. I assumed that the Fire Moth and Viper were locked in, but the Nova Cat/Night Gyr and Kingfisher/Turkina were still up in the air. But I guess maybe the Fire Moth is a no go?

Except the Woodsman is pretty much stated that it is still in use by Dark Caste. It isn't produced anymore, but the same holds for the Nova. Nova has not been made in ages. If it is in use, it isn't extinct. The Coyotl might actually, truly be extinct, but the Woodsman isn't.

Unrelated edit: are we all just killing time for the event to start, or something? :P

I just don't see them going out of their way to bring in obscure mechs. Outside of the handful of lorenerds like us, who has even heard of the Coyotl? Hell, when you go into their offices they don't even have more than a handful of sourcebooks.

It requires Mektek levels of not giving a **** to put in whatever they want. I'm pretty sure if we get a 40 tonner it's going to be the Viper, followed distantly by the Pouncer/Phantom.

According to Wars of Reaving, yes. But don't compare the Woodsman to the Nova, as the Nova still has parts made for it, as well as various factories building it from time to time even in Clan Invasion era.

I'd bet money we'd see the Naga before the Woodsman.

Id assume there are quite a lot of people like me who arent lorenerds, but use online resources to research which mechs could get added and theorycraft which ones will be good ingame, then ask for those..
