I actually tend to take SRM6's over 4's because I'm really good at sneaking up on people (the one thing I am worried about at higher tiers is seismic), and at less than 100m, an extra bit o' damage is useful. Now, LRM's...well, there the 5/10's def have it over the 15/20's, although if I can't get to LRM40, I'll take 20's just to get enough of a volley to get past AMS.

Forum war worked to get the Archer Revised before Launch, thats impressive.

Now if only the Light mechs didnt have an army of Whiteknights... xD

But seriously, this is what happens when nonsensical balancing mechanics become considered somehow 'normal'.


So even during the Great Rescaling, they released a Mech that wasn't correctly scaled...?

They make "amateurish" look like an aspirational standard.

I do tend to agree that it's pretty sad we're complaining about quirks, and I'm including myself on this list, however P.G.I caused this.

They used quirks to balance and not just tweak mechs, so its all down to them, but really this thread and the others like it should never have been a thing.

The Metaheads tell us all how only bad players use LRM's how scrub they are, and yet a mech which is only known for its LRM load out, gets worse quirks than mechs that have Lrms as a secondary weapon, while getting uber quirks for their primary weapon. War hammer, Marauder.

Hell the War hammer was given stupidly high ballistic quirks so the meta heads could fill two versions with ballistic's.

So its not really that surprising, the pitchforks and flaming torches came out over the Archers Quirks.

I can think of two lights that desperately need a boost

The Mist Lynx.

I've been in matches where I've died and then watched a mastery class in how to use them, and seen a guy nearly save a match that the rest of us totally failed in, but the average player isn't going to break 300 damage with one that often, as the PPC sniper only works well if the rest of the team stay alive.

Hell I got accused of using an aim bot because I ninja'd two kills and got around 280 damage pop tarting in one, once. so they desperatly need a boost.


The other is the Comando, when a locust owns it nine times out of ten. Sure its because of the bugs weapon inflation, but it needs as much help or more than the Mist as it can't jump and the ECM version has probably the worse weapon load out of the lot.

The rest though I'd say are about the right place, maybe the spider could do with an extra weapon hardpoint but that's really all I can think of.

I would agree to all that, if they could still be knocked down or even away from hugging my heavys legs instead of abusing that ability to the point I cant even turn or move :o

I might pick up the archers just for the 2R(S) (should be able to cycle LRM 5's to decent effect) and the Tempest (ECM heavy), but they're still petty meh, and definitely put a damper on my pre-ordering the Phoenix Hawk.

Well said. Quirks are part of the problem. It makes Mechs with inferior Quirks redundand, PGI's bad work on breaking the Meta doesn't help either.

Not in the least interested in quirks.
Would love to see LRM20, 15, 10, and 5 have the same spread.
It would revitalize the big tonnage LRM's.
It's not magic, it's simple, common, sense.
