I love most of everything else in here though.
(seems wierd though that there'd be a "leap day" in the whole universe since that's something just for earth, but then again, i guess that's splitting hairs since 365 days in a year is also only an earth thing)

Really....scrap this idea. Someone takes 3 months off from the game and has to start from 0 LP?(In theory.)
That is sort of like old school WOW pvp ranks where you had to constantly maintain your rank through dozens and dozens of matches or you will lose rank and access to items as other people surpass you.
I do not approve.
Perhaps a concession is to apply that theory to only select high ranks to make sure that only people very active with the game are directing the goals of a faction, but your LP points will only decay to a certain point.
You might as well strip XP from people who haven't been playing as often as they used too.

The strong get stronger and the weak get weaker, people won't want to compete for a faction that is weak and will gravitate towards the strong factions that always win, because always winning gets you better loyalty.
In my opinion, loyalty is what you show for not winning all the time but continuing to fight and support your faction anyway. It's damn easy to show loyalty to a team that helps you win all the time, quite a different matter to show loyalty when your team isn't winning for you.

Broken down to Faction Points. Which do not degrade and is used for determining deranking. If FRP drops below 90% of required or what ever percent decided. Rank determine some bonuses
Favor Points which do degrade. Use to determine whether one qualifies for a new rank as well as FVP bonuses. A Captain in favor has more bonuses then a Captain out of favor, but they are still a Captain. This allows some one to go away a while but not loose all bonuses that they have worked hard for, just some of them.
Finally a catagory of Gung Ho Bonuses for having a close ratio between FRP/FVP. This indicates the pilot is a rising star and very committed to the cause. This will cause special missions to be open to them, special gear or the like. Maybe qualifying for a mech a little sooner than normal?
This would lend to a more realistic system to rank and benifits.

i like this idea.
i would like to see something like WOT has with your record with each tank/mech would be seen so that you could easily look at my record like you can with my WOT record and see that i am top drawer with large or small SPG's, very good as a scout, sort of moderate with fast mediums, and very bad with my tier 10 heavy.

I think the finances of transport will play an important part of this universe if that is what is wanted. To capture a jumpship would be a stupendous thing, to lose one horrendous! yet will it be contiguous, transportation and battle retaliation?Time desired, as time be? Will there be a "Spaceward Ho" element, hopefully a "Tradewar's" element??? Knowledge may be a key, but it may also be a Molotov cocktail, depends on the incentives given, or taken.
If it will take 2 weeks to get to a mission's objective in subjective time log, but only a couple of minutes of real time game, the stratagy of leaving your home world, or whatever, becomes problematic, if your troops are over extended, not mended, just befriended, come here little buddy, what is left of your world can swear allegiance to me, or be destroyed, oh, and pick up that soap. You come home, wow, our unit is shooting at us,hmmmm, this does not seem right, what the heck over?
But how could the almost turnbase time bind with the real time, or should I say twine to equivalent outcomes?
This is how, the travel time back, makes null the time traveled there. the difficult part would be the balance of all the other timelines, but since the time is a realtime 3049 and month and follow in succession in 24 hour cycles, perhaps it is in no way realistic. But time is not going to be real either, a unit will drop, scout, destroy, in an hour, where if it were not make believe, it would take much much longer, see.
I know I am rambling, but I think you need to pull the stops sometimes and see what you get. Thanks uncle danno, eruto
i was quite sure that i was going to be a lone wolf in this game because there were no groups that i would want to join.
but after reading this i have my doubts.
if this is representative of the members of the Northwind Highlanders i will take a look at this group in consideration of joining them.
i could fight along side warrior poets of this caliber feel like i had found people i could think of as peers.

i have only done a short search for this information, just how will the clans be introduced?
i have not found a mention of it and that may be because i have not looked in the right places, or it has not been released yet.
