Only as a Faction player. When we reveal more about the rewards of rank, I'm confident people will like it.

I assume we will get more details at a later date, on how the Houses will operate? With regards to the core planets and house planets? etc etc

I am older...so I am :) about the prospective new game, but :D cuz I cant take all this info in as fast as some of the others here...lol, imma have to set on it a few days, and let all this info dissect itself for me....I am in OVERLOAD

But we ;) PGI and the staff...and thanks for what looks to be an AMAZING launch!

If a player is a mercenary and is bored of this existence can he then become a faction player?
When do i have to decide if i want to be Merc or faction or lone wolf player and it that decision final?

Who can merencaries eran point for a fraction to be permitted to contracts when they can´t fight for a faction without this points?

From my understanding (i think may got it wrong) but the LP is more to do to actual player skill and how loyal they are to their faction kinda like the Steiner/Davion thingy thats in MW4 ( example Steiner +5 Davion -10) ?

Ughhh.. as a previous WoW addict from vanilla WoW onward, I can guarantee you we will not allow that grind to happen again. That ladder system was a fail from the get go. Our "High Warlord" was a shared account between 15 people. We are mitigating this and will update further later on in the project as it touches into an area we don't have covered yet. Just rest assured, the person looking into this cringes at the thought of the old WoW PvP ranks.

When i read the LP system, vanilla wow is EXACTLY what i thought of... So reading this makes me clam down...

I don't know how I feel about this, but thank you for putting out some details.

I have too many questions/concerns and I'm sure not all of them will be answered, posting in the Q&A.

Interesting concept doc. Maybe show us some ingame footage so we know that MWO is not vaporware?

I am quite worried that all that has been show is concept art, MWO !_IS_! vaporware until proven otherwise.

Isn't the St.Ive's compact a seperate faction? The map shows the border and has its capital world marked. Other than that everything sounds pretty promising :)

No lone wolf option = I do not support the game.

The solution is to get rid of the arbitrary disadvantages for lone wolves, not to get rid of the lone wolf option. Lone wolves have enough of a disadvantage naturally from being out-numbered (locally and often strategically also). That's what "teamwork" is, after all--ganging up on a single lone wolf, one at a time. Two lone wolves are two separate battles for a two-man team, each of which battles is a two-on-one. So we lone wolfers don't need any more disadvantages manufactured for us. And don't even think about trying to force us into joining a herd, 'cause it won't work.

Purely speculation here but what would prevent more than 1 Lone Wolf to get together to tackle a Mission. Each gets a equal share or bonus based on damage done, kills scored etc. etc. When it over, back to going solo.

Even the great Master of his Domain, the Grizzly bear, the Loner of loners, get together with their kind when the Salmon spawn (bounty is plentiful) happens each year and go one their way after.

Maybe some of these smaller meetings could be the start of a smaller nondescript Merc Corp.?

I really like the way this sounds. Lone wolfs seem to be the step child in this system but that is to be expected. The rewards for House loyalty sound great, but disappointing due to (probably) not being able to start in the unit my character started in all those years ago! However, earning a billet in the 10th LG will be a goal now!

I'm going to ignore the Pony and Barbie related post directly above me, and focus instead on the first post of this thread. :)

I am ecstatic. Even with the caveat that these are BETA ideas/systems and there are details to work out, simply showing the effort that you guys are making to flesh out this online game is greatness. I look forward to having a meaningful affect on the game world, which is sometimes not what you get from online games, even MMORPGs that promise such.

Very much looking forward to the next bit of info, as always.

Will lone wolves be able to cash in their LP's if they decide to join a faction later on or is it start from scratch?

Hmm... lets take this in the context of the battletech universe. There are almost NO lone wolfs. What I mean is that statistically 99.9999% of battlemechs are controlled by a group of people. Mercs, houses, bandit groups, etc. The bounty hunter is one of the few to be a lone wolf.

I foresee lone wolf being where every one starts. They fight some battle and gain some LP and join a faction, or join a merc.

In terms of mechs available if they stay with cannon the new tech goes to house units and then some very loyal merc groups. The Dragoons are a huge aberration and they will be dev controlled I'm betting. For every one the new and better tech should be in the houses until the clans arrive, at that point the clans have the best.

What, you dont' like that the houses control the research and production of new tech and mechs... welcome to the life of an independent. The Lone Wolf for a long period should be by far the hardest to be successful at.

In order of how easy it is to get good pay and tech it should be.

House
Clans (easier tech but must obey the clan honor rules so mroe work)
Mercs
Lone Wolfs

House and clan troops get many advantages by virtue of their houe having mech factories, training facilities, armies of techs, etc.

Mercs have a large group to work as a team and can build a reputation with a specific faction and gain help from the house (Brion's Legion is a good example of receiving a lot from a faction). By cannon 97% of merc groups fail in the first five years.

Lone wolfs live by what work they find and what they can salvage. It isn't an easy road. If you choose the Lone Wolf, you chose the hardest road and that makes walking around in your Warhawk C all the more rewarding.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Please let Mr. Brown know I won't have anything to do with his "other" two ventures.
