This new minimap make light mech piloting a nightmare.
Can't navigate obstacle with it.
Can't find my legs

Can't orient my self

This triple my OODA time, WTF...

Yeah.
UX has nothing to do with it.
Your player base is just afraid of change.


How about instead of scrapping a working element and compressing a ton of visuals into a tiny space, perhaps you have a toggle for a full-screen holographic / overlay view of the battle map as an intermediary between the giant black-out view and the mini-map.

No GPS device I have ever used shows me everything under the sun on the primary overview.
Zooming, toggling, etc... sure.

Hunting through a bunch of icons to find my little triangle to assess the battle, as my primary reference, is [ADD ANY EXPLETIVE HERE].

Spacial orientation on the playing field is huge value.

If you're going to take away the direction of enemies, why would you replace it with L/M/H/A display?
How is that supposed to make the match longer!?

If you're going to do info warfare, do that.
Don't bounce around and make a mess of things with a "maybe it sticks" justification.
As a software developer, I take offense at such a glib attitude.


+++ New reference icons for mechs are great though.

Now if we could get minor iterations on such major releases instead of a bomb-drop update, we could play test your game with less spastic response.

I told myself I'd give it a week or two to get used to the new minimap.

Russ arguments at the townhall for expanding it and taking away enemy facing made good sense.

However, I no longer can see where I am facing, the map is so small that I cannot get a sense that a cliff exists even when I am staring right at it, and what has been a hallmark of this game (namely, that the map revolved around you) has been casually discarded.

Two of these changes have nothing to do with command wheel, and the last only so in the need to cram the whole map into such small area without bothering to include a zoom feature.

In regards to taking away information we arguably should not have (enemy facing), we now get information about enemy mech tonnage. Which, again, has nothing to do with the lack of detail on the map, facing, or field of view indicator.

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, do NOT make this game into world of tanks...
i cant tell where im going since the map cant rotate...

revert the minimap,
icons to tell you what mechs your team are using might be a keeper though

I won't play the game till it is reverted back to the original concept... or have option to change it in combat. Now clueless chickens on drugs running around with guns. No difference between t5 and t1 players... everybody is just lost. The game is not fun like this. Sorry, terrible change, you have to admit.

Please revert the change until the new map has at least all features the old one had.

At VERY least it needs rotation, FOV and zoom.

I'm sorry, but the new minimap doesn't work for me. It makes me disoriented and suffer from motion sickness.

Suggestions:
- Primarily, roll it back to the old mini map. You can add the new functions with the command wheel and the new player symbols to the larger map if you want to, but let the minimap be as it was.
- Secondarily, give us a zoom function and (importantly) the ability to turn off the minimap. If the new minimap can't be rolled back we have to be able to turn it off and play without it.

Please.

Also remember, this is MWO, not World of Tanks...

WTH!!

I usually don't post anything in the forums and I'm here now for over 2 years. But this minimap is a bad joke. For me it is absolutely unplayable, destroyes my S/A and kills every tiny bit of fun I have playing MWO.

Roll it back. Full stop.

I play this game since 2012, I rely on the minimap sometimes more than on the cockpit view, so I have situational awereness at ALL TIMES. I am now completly disorientated, plus the seismic sensor makes NO SENCE to have, it just gives you general red blips on the minimap, no idea where or how many! Terrain is impossible to read ! You just see this "BATTLESHIP BOARD" like its an island with random blips here and there.
Its a piece of #@%$ !
