Dakka and splat mediums are both great. I'm happy with that. Laser mediums hold their own just fine as well, though.

4AC5 and nothing else though is not crushing DPS. You're looking at 20 pt hits over a fairly long cooldown; I forget the exact pts cooldown, but each is sub-2 DPS.

Much of what you're saying up here, though, Quicksilver? It doesn't look like problems to me. *Shrugs*

Dakka and brawling being preferred methods of play? ... Ok.

Lasers being usable, easier to aim vs. lighter mechs, but not as dominant? I'm ok with that too.

You're not painting a bad picture, even if I take what you're saying at face value (and as someone with a LOT of pts drops, I feel you are misjudging some things)

I do think ppc's need some buffing though, they were over nerfed and that leads to too little ppfld sniping.

This isn't true at the moment, I'm not sure what is up with hit reg, but I find it far easier to kill a light with the 5 AC5 Mauler or Gauss/PPC Kodiak than I ever did with Clan or IS laser vomit.

Better DPS? Really?

Do you know what PTS2 DPS is for an AC5? For a Large Laser?

1 AC5: 2.17 DPS
1 Large Laser: 2.12 DPS.
1 CMPL: 2.16 DPS

You can fire 3LL / 3LL easily. Or 2 LL + 2 LL + Gauss. Less facetime required than AC5's.

I can't comment on your hitreg issues, other than to say I don't have that issue with either. Obviously, there's nothing else I can do about that.


Gauss+PPC builds have always smashing lights if you could aim. My DWF's utterly crushed lots, because those 50pt alphas just wreck lights. That's not really relevant anymore though - I suppose lights are happy about that? I don't do lights, so I can't comment there.

My 4 LL / Gauss Misery certainly didn't struggle at all.

You guys on the forums have been telling me that about every single mech I've ever built Posted Image . Hasn't stopped me from thrashing the competition just as good as any of the meta builds. Don't get me wrong though, I'm still miffed 1x UAC/10, 6x cERSL got nerfed on the PTS.

What about the stock Nova with those 12 CERMLs? Has that gone the way of the dinosaur on this new PTS build? That was such a fun Mech even though it was impractical. I hate that PGI is ripping the joy out of this game.

It worked on PTS 1, on PTS 2 I think you'll have more or less the same luck as live.

That is exactly what I'm saying.
The responses are that mixing UACs and lasers could "work".
I say why would one bother to bring both when stacking up one works far better?


What is stopping me from bringing a Mauler-2P with 6xLPLs and mopping the floor with the enemies in a match? (you have to try this one.. its an eye opener)

Who in their right mind will bring ACs and lasers when they can bring 5x AC5s and spam the enemy to death?

if they did not work in PTS1... say goodbye to them in PTS2.

6 ERML will incur 12 extra heat, so you will have to fire in groups of 4, with about 1.5 seconds in between to incur no ghost heat.

You're not alphaing often (though 4MPL is 24E and 3SRM4 is 18E, so you can fire the MPL's then at the end of the beam dump SRM's and twisting away - the time between one and the other can be very short. Or fire/twist/fire/twist/fire/twist.

However, everyone is dealing with this in brawling range. Regardless, brawling overall is very, very potent in PTS2.

I was playing with a 6LL Stalker right now. That stalker is pushing ~13 dps, and can hold it up for a good chunk of time. Sure, it needs to cool after that, but that's long been the thing. Burn like mad, then oh, comfy cover. But really, with 3LL burns, you only need to do that for so long.


I'm loving though how people are both saying ballistics are going to dominate and ballistics are totally broken in the couple posts just above this one, though.
