the issue is, its not just this guy, I've looked around the web, seen other people talking about this game, and I've noticed that by and large, people just don't seem to "get it" in following that train of thought, see my previous post on this thread. (page 4, post #75)

I seriously have the wrong job if people are getting paid for writing such short pieces of uninformative nonsense.

Well anyone with half a brain does their own research on a game anymore when they hear of it and dont rely on just a sites review of games.
I say that due to the games we all have been hit with over the last few years of...oh this game is the best and that one is the best ever made but yet when you go to play it ...uh ok why isnt this in or that in yet it is listed as being in there yet you hear oh will be in next patch..and places like gamespy give ludicrus high marks for them with nary a word of negativity to it.
The only ones that would really not do their homework would be the kids and well to be brutally honest from what little we know of MWO so far well most of the kids today do not have the attention span to learn this game.

I left a comment on the gamespy article that will probably get me warned if not banned. Like I want to read anything else after that piece of trash. Thats 30 seconds of my life gone that I'll never get back.

Well, after the way "game reviewers" all raved about a bugged WoW clone..... AKA Star Wars the Old Republic, their opinions can pretty much die in a fire. They have LESS than 0 credibility in my book. They rated that garbage 10 out of 10 after playing it?.....but want to talk trash about a game they haven't even tried?

Yeah ... the author sounds like a total douchebag spewing ignorance. C'mon seriously?

It doesn't look like and feel COD / Modern Warfare and I've never played Mechwarrior before DDDUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........ I shall write an impression that I think it's boring.

It's people like him that keep publishers conservative and scared of innovating. Total troll that should be fired.

Bribe taking, biased reviewing *****

Three cheers to Ben for being the first reply to the thread on GS! Amazing how the author starts out by saying he didn't play it much and doesn't get it so it looks bad...

...but, to be fair, there are actually audiences that have a different opinion than us ancient mechwarrior veterans ;). Would it be all bad if the devs made a more jizzy jazzy vid to hype up some kiddie cannon fodder? Us vets can show them the ropes, once we remember where they are.

What amuses me the most is that this was written by a supposed "professional journalist".

Perhaps I should become one myself if writing crap that doesn't even take 2 mins to write based on info that came from a video that didn't even last 2 mins is all I have to do...

Wow, my first post in gamespy ever ;)

I've never used their site prior to reading this thread but have used their programme to play MechCommander 1 when I was much younger. Signed up for a Disqus account just to make that post :P

Its perception. I have first hand experience of my cousins not being interested because the game looks too childish for them.

I think I would go.a long way for the better of the game if they scrapped many of the childish sounds in the game like the pew pew laser sounds and replaced it with brutal war like sounds

This is an example of what what lasers and missles should sound like to give a serious brutal felling

www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnPTWPVYxP4

The feel of the game needs to be grimmed up a bit too.

Personally who knows what giant lasers teally.sound like. it doesnt bother me that much to be hinest but i know for a fact both the male and female brain pay more attention.and have more respect for somethig if it tickles their primitive this is dangerous or scary thoughts. when.they.realise it cant.hurt them.cos its a game it just turns to coolness. but pew pew will never have this effect

This reminds me of when Battlefield 3 came out and they gushed how it improved the "slow and ponderous feel of Battlefield 2. Gamers today do not want to think in a game, just seize holding a controller and seeing "KILL STREAK" and "POWER UP!" screamed in icons on the screen.

I could care less as Gamespy is dying source of reliable information that caters to whom ever pays for the most ad space. Newer gamers will get the mech fever and stick with the genre just as they have in the past.
