He commented on his article: I don't know about MW4, I never really got into it like 2 and 3.

Hey guys, Taylor here.

Just a quick response to all the comments I've been getting on this article. You guys are absolutely right; I've never played a MechWarrior game for a significant amount of time. I'm pretty unsure as to what makes them click, and why people love them so much. But here's the thing: I'm absolutely open to the idea that I might fall in love with them. In fact, I'm installing the free version of MechWarrior 4 as we speak.

My comments about the video above are in no way a reflection on my final opinions on the MechWarrior Online topic. I haven't gotten my hands on it yet (obviously), and plan on giving it my full attention upon release. I was simply responding to the trailer that was the main focus of the news post. To an outsider who is unfamiliar with the intricacies of the MechWarrior series, it does look kind of boring! But that doesn't mean I'm writing off the game as a whole or insulting the fans. Just stating a personal observation.

So there ya go. Have at it, y'all. ;)

You think as someone who is supposed to write a article, he would at least look at the main website and watch all the vids and read about it, before posting such trash

I think it's great everyone jumped on him in the comments. I think he misses the difference between "boring" and this game is too hard for me.

FTA: Technobabbly like, "the CN9-A variant sports 8.5 tons of armor, an Autocannon/10, LRM-10, and two Medium Lasers." I'm sure that means something to someone, but that person sure isn't me!

I'm not a Mech-Expert but I think it means exactly what it says. Why can't people take the time to read? How is "two medium lasers" and "8.5 tons of armor" that complicated to understand? ;)

He has a point on the technobabble.

90% of what the announcer was saying in that video about variants and the various weapon loadouts is moon language to anyone that doesn't follow the franchise.

real problem is kids these days are coddled by their parents. they dont read books, they've never been in a museum, and they'd rather not go outside.

how do you expect someone who doesnt know what science fiction is to understand anything about science fiction?
just so you understand how sheltered some of these people are, i have a friend who thought lasers only existed in the movies, had no idea we have a space program, and can't name the planets in our solar system. I won't even begin to get into their self entitlement issues courtesy of bad parenting and a poor competitive environment.

this is the target audience for call of battlefield halos of war duty 25: ninja zombies rave massacre edition, and it's only natural a game like this would not only intimidate them, but that they would prattle on about it like we care

but enough drone defense for a moment.

all these people that go on about how they dont like what we like so we must change it to suit their tastes are very childish, and it is this mentality that is the reason society is so borked up in the first place.

Everyone in this thread saying he's got a point with the technobabble...no. If you play video games and can't figure out what a 'medium laser' is then the problem is you, not 'technobabble'. I can possibly see LRM...but seriously, Google exists for a reason. The article just reeks of amateur.

Every game has their own 'technospeak'. Someone new to the FRS genre probably doesn't know the difference between an uzi and a mac-10. So attacking that is kind of silly. Besides, would they rather they called it 'a big gun' or something rather than the actual game name?

Plus the video is a bit aimed at people who have been following the development of the game.

Lastly, most games are pretty boring to watch. The most exciting raid in WOW just looks like a lot of pretty lights for people not invested in it. So this too is a bad comment to make on any game.

The article is laughably unprofessional and looks little better than a mood swing-feuled rant. What annoys me isnt the article but the tweet where he directly insults angry fans calling them dumbos. Nothing a 4 year old cant handle but, really? This guy needs to insult his readers now?

He stands by this "honest" review but he should also stand by his naivity that MW is an iconic, proven genre and that he did zero homework for his editorial. He has no business reviewing any games with an attitude like that. This is not content GameSpy should aspire to.

Come to think of it, MWO doesn't have nearly enough zombies or [insert another latest fad here] in it. I'm totally cancelling my Legendary account!!!

Well think of it this way, ALLOT of reviews and such suck up to the big companies (blizzard and the MWO ones are the worst offenders to this) and most likely get paid to bash other games the big companies are scarred of. Take Star Wars for example, it got bashed so freaking hard before and after release, and saw allot of countering from game reviews who sucked up to WoW, and guess what, it has been successful and still rakes in the money, but you won't see a single great review from major companies and such for it. So be prepared to have biased articles out the ying yang against MWO

Long ago i accepted that console games had become the majority in video gaming and as FPS like COD have dominated the market once owned by counterstrike and Halo 2. Some people will never understand the thrill of these type of games mechwarrior\battletech. Honestly its their loss.
Ive played all the mechwarrior games old and new starting in early 90s with MPBT. and i played a very high competitive level playing counterstrike. I understand the love of both and have a deep introspective point of view of all types of gamers. I also played WoW for 4 years. I love all games of all kinds, and i swear this is non bias, mechwarrior\battletech has always been the most immersive game experience of all. THe story line is rich and gritty. a brilliantly unique blend of scifi and realism

Myeah, MWO has nothing to worry about from that "article". If anything, the pages and pages of vitriol the author rightly received should have him worried about his future as a contributing writer. Moron.

I'm happy to see people telling him what they thought of a half-cocked, poorly written opinion that comes off as a review.

So happy, I added a comment too.

Well he apologized at the end of his comments but I think that is worth writing an article over.
