When Battletech Comes Out Next Year How Many Will Play Both Those Games Or Choose One Or The Other?

In this past year, I've spent well over $200 (CAD) on MWO, its an investment I won't soon walk away from. The roadmaps and presentations in December 2015 gave me an impression that the state of the game would be far different than it is today. The promises of "soon" have become quite grating to the nerves as well...
What holds my interest in MWO is that it is the only Battletech game currently, and it will hold it for some time as I love Clan mechs, especially the Kodiak, both aspects we won't be seeing in the new HBS game being released next year. That and the "Mech Simulator" feel that MWO tries to capture which again is worlds away from what Battletech will be. For those reasons alone, I'll be pigeonholed into playing more MWO.
This December with Mechcon will be very telling. I must say it is very disheartening that this game has been around for four years and the extent of it's innovation is constant 12v12 team deathmatches. It seems PGI has decided to hold all information reveals until then. Until then...wanna buy a mech pack...or....invest that same amount into Battletech and get a complete game?

Yes, thanks to Battletech fans, there are crits. But, all those shots require you to hit the section of the mech that is unarmored (for the most part, there are some exceptions). Headshots are not determined by RNG. RNG comes into play only after your skill at aiming does.
Here skill > chance. In Battletech, RNG can lay waste to all the best tactical planning.

I guess I will play both, but I expect HBS BattleTech to become my primary game, while MWO will probably be sidelined. MWO offers nothing but repetetive deathmatch, while HBS is going to offer much more:
Combined Arms - tanks, hovertanks, helicopters maybe, etc. - all those things missing in MWO- Expanded Mission Objectives - Attack, Defend, Capture, Escort, etc. - the majority of MWO games is "Kill the entire enemy team" with occassional variation "Kill the entire enemy team and then stand in the square"
- Managing the finances and logistics of my mercenary outfit - from the modifications and loadout of my 'Mechs, to the salaries and skill growth of my MechWarriors - the only thing I am managing in MWO is "Do I have enough C-Bills to buy
DHS and ES upgrades?" - Open-Ended Campaign with Procedurally-generated Contracts included
- Battlefield Salvage - missing in MWO
- Character Origin - the only "character" I see in MWO is headless body in 'Mech cockpit
- George "Duncan Fisher" Ledoux - "Whoa! That kid was on fire down there. Of course, now he's literally on fire."
- Duane Loose - painter who illustrated first BattleTech 'Mech and vehicle TROs and practically defined the visual aspect of the game. Now he is cooperating on HBS BattleTech.
- Argo Dropship - finally a home base that is more than a few Mechlab screens
- Hiring 'Mech Aces such as
Grayson Carlyle, Natasha Kerensky or Morgan Kell - Solaris 7 with Tournaments, Leagues and Leaderboards, or just with casual PvP games
- Meeting and Fighting Various Elite House and Mercenary Units such as
Sword of Light, Eridani Light Horse or Black Widow Company - Physical Attacks - Jordan Weisman's favorite 'Mech is the Hatchetman and he said that "You can't have a proper BattleTech game without physical attacks." (But no Hatchetman)
Had to curb a few of your expectations. The game may have a few famous characters show up as cameos but you won't be able to hire them. Also level 2 tech isn't going to make an appearance in the initial game. And as far as we know, so far, you'll only be able to control mechs.
This is all from talking on their forums that I know this stuff. It's not the gospel but it's pretty accurate.
Anyway, I wish people would stop comparing the two games. HBS Battletech isn't going to draw everyone away from MWO. HBS is more about using your brain to think than twitch shooting. That only appeals to the ahead of the bell curve crowd.
Additionally HBS isn't f2p. Expect content in expansions and new games rather than flavor of the month mechpacks (again, what HBS said).
So yeah, lots of wishful thinking here on both sides without actually investigating or thinking things out. Must be a day that ends in Y.

From the official Kickstarter page:
"... we'll include rare legendary 'Mechs to find, and rare hero MechWarriors to hire - including some famous characters from BattleTech history. Such legends may not stick around for long, but will be well worth hiring if you can afford them."

And I have never said that it will.

Actually, we know that there is going to be combined arms - we saw a pair of Striker Light Tanks in the game preview, fighting as part of enemy force. So we are going to fight combined arms enemies.

Could you post links, please?
From the official Kickstarter page:
"Add the Kurita Sword of Light, including MechWarriors, as an enemy unit you can fight in the Stage 1 Skirmish game."
As for the Hatchetman, I have never said that it will be in the game.
And please, post exact links to official HBS announcements instead of messing with my posts.

I will play both. They are totally different games with nothing in common except the Mechs from BattleTech. I think I will enjoy the campaign in BattleTech but it will never replace the simulation aspect of MechWarrior.
The two can co-exist and both be better for it by drawing attention and players to one another.

1. What are the big announcements for the future of MWO at Mechcon?
2. Do I like playing HBS's game?

At first I will play the arse out of Battletech, from the winter beta actually.
That will impact on my play time and spending here, though the colaspe of sterling against the dollar is going to have a greater impact on my supporting this than another game.
The Huntsman is certainly the last clan mech I buy, IS depends on PGI producing the last of the unseen

Just post links to official HBS announcements that would corroborate your claims, please.

You make being helpful sound so demeaning. If only we could all muster the strength to say random crap and then refuse to back it up, maybe the world would be a better place.

When someone says something along the lines of "The Federated Commonwealth in 3054..." and 20 people jump in to say ACTUALLY THE FEDERATED COMMONWEALTH WASN'T OFFICIAL UNTIL VICTOR TOOK CHARGE it gets a bit old.

You indicated that my post is wrong.
You said something what goes against official HBS statements too.
So if you are saying something unusual, then "you" should prove it. That's how discussions work.

I wouldn't have bothered with this post, but some people have been known to PM or say in games, hey you said this, and now you've done that so of course any statement is subject to change, so just clearling it up about the huntman being my last purchase, for clan

Technically it is
