Actually, other Clans do use Timber Wolves. Clan Wolf is the only Clan that makes them, but other Clans can get their hands on them through trade, receive them as gifts or salvage enough omnipods off the battlefield to make a whole mech.

Fine, the timberwolf is a bad example. How about the Kodiak then ? Unavailable to Clan Jade Falcon or Smoke Jaguars.

I have a rule, I don't post when I am actually playing the game. So if many pages/days of a thread pass between postings from me, its because I, unlike many forum warriors...actually do play the game.

Hero as Event Prize... nice and all ... but... looking at closely the event's "need to do" list... It will be a very hard one.. (Let's say... "Iron hard")

Anyway.... Thanks!

This event will be a cake walk to complete, you don't even have to own the Linebacker so it's not a pay-to-complete event. I had the Lance-in-Formation completed and over 90 components destroyed the first night it started, only played a couple hours. You can complete the whole event in a medium or light, though with the Formation requirement a medium would probably be easier to stay with your lance.

If you've just bought it, I feel your pain, contact customer service and see if you can get a refund.

If you've had it for any appreciable amount of time then its gets a bit murkier. Many of us that have been around a while (many longer than I) have already worked through those feelings and have moved on.

a trouble shared is a trouble halved!!! doesn't it?

Depends on the reason for the sharing...

Many people will share due to frustration and that is absolutely understandable, which is why I try to encourage a rational and satisfactory means to resolve the frustration (contact support).

There are others that share because they want to be heard, heeded and obeyed... They can kiss my linebacker's jumblies

Eregion, when did he buy the mech, was it the hero as a stand alone or as part of the mastery bundle and what was his question exactly?

With lots of 'I'm clever', 'I'm mature', 'I'm rational' projection going on.

If he was using LRMs I'm sure he was just experimenting with the changes. He's an outstanding player and they would be less efficient than direct fire in his hands for component destruction.

Right now I am using my beloved Tempest with 2ALRM 20 + BAP + 4MLs + XL300. I know, not a meta mech and not so efficient build, but for me it worked very well in terms of component destructions.

TBH, you don't have to actively try to complete this event, just play normally.

I completed it in about 50 or 60 battles while just playing normally (been leveling my Clan hero mechs) which is quite doable for a 14 day event.

Clan loyalist here. I'm stoked for the free GI. You know why? I like to try new things. QP isn't tech base restricted. You ARE allowed to play IS mechs. You don't suffer any penalties for sullying your superior trueborn hands with "freebirth trash". Personally, I believe that if one pilots the enemy equipment then one is better able to know its capabilities and limits.

Strat1: ALL TEH STREEKZ!!!!
Strat2: Run roughly the same speed
Strat3: ECM/lurmz for dayz. Yo!
Strat4: Wub U long time (seriously, those beam durations are long!)

I jest, of course. Lots of rockin clam builds and pilots with the skillz to make 'em rock out there...

Hey Mike, thanks for viewing these pages.
I'll send you his name and informations privately.

Contrary to what Dee Eight and his "rationale and mature thinking" say, no one here is crying.
I wanto to put forward the issue of "money/MC only gifts", not specifically to the GI.

Contrary to what Dee Eight and his "rational and mature thinking" say, I am a person who try to think what, if, how and WHEN to buy something. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I don't think.

The point is: the next time I'll want to buy a Color, Hero, Decal or whatever is (almost always) useless in duplicate, I'll have in mind the past experience of this event where PGI, as usual, gave great "gifts" (champions, colors, warhorns, mechbays, etc.), only this time of so great (relatively speaking) money value that raises a issue of "digital value".

If I buy a 'MechPack, I expect it to be "usable" the day of the patch and "exclusive" to the buyers until the day (written in the FAQ page) it goes for MC/C-bills. I pay for exclusivity and/or to have it sooner.

If I buy a Hero, I know that it will be available only through MC/Money (that's the only reason I spent real money).
Now that's no longer true.

What we pay for is "nothing", since PGI could shutdown the servers tonight and we could not say anything. If you add to this the concept of "useless 'premium' content", I'll think thrice the next time I have the impulse to buy something. The more the price (not the "value"), the more I'll stand back.

Again, maybe I'm alone in this, but I don't think.

PGI cannot go thru their corporate life trying to please a minority of hyper sensitive, entitlement suffering, perceived price/value of digital content players at the expense of the majority of players without those personality flaws.

Sorry Mister.
You are again wrong.

EDIT: lol. It looks like you learned those nice words and want to use them as much as possible, and then some more. When you've learned to read too, try on my post.

It sounds to me like Eregion is getting it. Temper your expectations and realize that PGI holds to right to do w/e it wants.
