Lrms is about maximizing sustained volume of fire and doing enough extra damage that you compensate for the spread. That means lots of rubes and lots of ammo. Cheekiez builds are the best posted so far by a mile.

most of my most successful "lerm boats" have been about a 50/50 split of lrms and other weapons. never did like pure lerm boats, mostly because you really need good teamwork to use them effectively, and that is often hard to come by these days.

also the fact that the nature of battle changes throughout the game. even a camp lermy trade match inevitably ends with mechs brawling in cqb, and a pure lerm boat like that is less useful late game. in addition you usually have surplus armor that ends up going to waste. by trading tubes, or better yet ammo, for a useful number of backup weapons usually solves that problem.

specifically regarding ammo, any ammo that you are unlikely to use is a liability. so i like to calibrate my ammo. if you are running out of ammo a lot you need more, and if you are dying to ammo explosions a lot or never running out, you might have too much. you also want to distribute it well so that loosing any one section (that wont kill you outright) wont destroy all your ammo.

even just 3 or 4 medium lasers is enough to put that surplus armor to use and help finish off the last few mechs. lasers are good when you run out of ammo as heat sink capacity formerly used up by lerms becomes a wasted resource when the ammo runs out. lasers can make use of that and they are light too. they also come in handy in those situation where there is a cherry component and you need a bit of precision for the kill shot.

LRM 90, LRM 70+A, LRM70 + Narc. ( always TAG, always ) with gobsmacks of ammo.

And best of all : it doesn't hog an assault slot.

LURM boats don't hog assault spots. Alpha Lance hogs assualt spots.

Been watching my brother play. I think the maduarder with lrms and lppc on frozen city domination was the most embarrassing kill since my bro was using an lbx2 and sml rvn-4x build. Spent most the match pinking out its legs as the mad madly bounced lrm point blank off and cooking itself with lppc fire.

That is almost as good as finding a ppc only mech when you have flamers and mgs.

I told him the pnt-10p had a good cool down. He tried it for a while and got rid of it. 4x isn't that bad a bal mech since it can go ac 20 and still has jump jet option. The pnt couldn't fit a 20. not sure if he tried lgr on it but i have on mine.

i recently repurchased the 4x and put a uac20 on it, hilarity ensued. nobody expects a 40 point alpha out of a raven. might actually be my best fat *** blaster for its ability to one hit meta assaults from behind.

Probabily not since any hit taken would be a insta-kill-u. That build would work better on the rvn-H as it has the longest missile range when you max fire power's range nodes. Only one of the stalker's can come close minus about 50m. I just forgot which one exactly but it has some thing like 10% or 15% range quirk you just stack with fire power;not the ecm one for sure.

given how little ammo it has its probably only good for a couple salvos. perfect troll build though. even the uac20 raven has its limits, though last time i played with it i got four kills.
