thats cause they did it wonky. if they split the idea of unit and solo, it would work. for example, im in a unit, but just because im in a unit and i want to drop solo, id have been in the unit que, which makes no sense whats-o-ever.

an elo matchmaker would maybe work as well

Except then you would have units taking advantage of the queue by sync dropping, and still stomping you. (not saying all units would do this, but when there's a loophole, someone will take it)

ill take sync droppers over premades when im solo. they have nop garuntee of all getting in the team if theres a pug line. and qp solo que has that problem as well without ill-effect. i fail to see how that would be anything other than a minor nuisance.

Not really as the players decided which planet to drop on, and the battles were happening on multiple planets. Now if it had been like the current FP 4.1 then true, it would likely have resulted in fewer of them landing on the same combat drop.

It was a "non unit tag queue" which was not the goddamn f*cking solo/group split people keep asking for. The "unit tag queue" was still like 50% solo players because every solo player with a freakin unit tag had to play group queue.

Gosh i'm sick and tired of people claiming "but they did a solo queue". No, they didn't. They set up a "non unit tag" queue to fail, and scrapped it after a few days because it had 0% of ever working. They did something no one ever asked for, something no one right in his mind could believe it would work.

Stop spreading false information.

We can argue the synchdrop boogieman all day long without even trying a prober soloqueue if you wish. But stop claiming they tried a soloqueue.


Just put FW maps/modes in QP. FW doesn't need to become more like QP.

no they didn't as others have told you, look through my old posts on my profile if you want to find one of the 10 times ive explained it in detail.

The above, you forgot to mention the stupid unit thingy was also only applied while Scouting was brand new and draining all players into 4v4 from 12v12 to play something new. it was scrapped b4 scouting got old.

The unit I'm with (Majestic 12) fields a FP team of 6 or more every night.

We look forward to running into other units because it usually results in more interesting matches.

thats not really the problem. its consistently doing it, match after match, and no way out other to friend and check when their deployed, or wait 15 minutes to be sure. either way, im waiting really long, when its clear after 5 matches in a row that we aint gonna win that night against them. now if it was every other game, not much of a problem, they got good players, their chill, its no biggie. its the consistency. and i dont think its just them. people are going to see it every time a top teir unit is dropping. but back to back matches against any given one of those teams is just devestating for keeping a groups morale up and people playing.

heck, fixing that specific problem may help populate oceanic. more west coast teens and young twenties staying up all night to play would bleed over and help populate that tz a little. the plus sides of mixing up who your opponents are are there, and i dont see much downsides other then que times maybe being slowed, depending how forceful any given system is. but that should fix itself because people will be seeing less back to back stomps and by extension, stay requeing up longer each night, and faster.

in defense of kcom, i have definetly run into pugs playing with my unit, and they looked at us and said gg before drop. jappened first time to us last week, so ive been in kcom shoes. i felt like crap cause im used to thinking what they were thinking in that match. so im trying to look at it from both angles. making it so that you cant play the group you just played last game in fp would drastically improve player retention in fw.

short of a full blow matchmaker, which pgi seems against.

I share your concern, and I have been on the opposite side of that fence, too.

One of the things I admire about MJ12 (and a key reason I joined them) is that they are respectful and friendly of their opposition, especially when it's PUGs and/or smaller groups.

Same here. Always an excellent fight, never a steamroll.

I would say we are about 50/50 on win/losses when we come against them these days and not because they got bad - we got better. After taking beatings you either learn/improve or you don't Posted Image

People bring totally incorrect builds for the map and then complain about being stomped?

Gimme a spell.

LRMs, builds with LBX2s, Clan ACs etc etc. I mean Kana had Med Lasers on Boreal. That right there is the epitomy of problem with FP. People not understanding you cannot bring a rubbish builds to it.

OMG, if small lasers are competitive then I must conclude that a mech with medium lasers is some sort of meta god-tier build. I think you need to reconsider your view, or your grasp on reality, my friend. Anyone running medium lasers...on boreal of all places...could not but help dominating the match (its so cold after all). You obviously have a lot to lear here.

Still, I do think that is how a lot of new players think. I really wish PGI would have more posts/involvement in explaining the intricacies of not just CW but the relationships between mechs, weapons, hardpoint location, hit boxes, their nominal uses, their competitive uses and the distinctions thereof.

As long as predominant form of instruction for this game is in the exclusive purview of the community (here, reddit, etc.) there are going to be a LOT of folks, especially new players who need the help more than most, who ignore such instruction because it comes from "mere players" and not the devs. Be it Dafrog or you or a scrub like me, less experienced players are often not interested in hearing -or listening- to what we have to say because we are just players.

Sigh. Nothing that hasn't been said a zillion times before I suppose.

I enjoy running against KCOM, Evil, MJ12 and other elite units. If you never play the best, how will you get better? Any 12 man can stomp pugs. Fighting KCOM is always a challenge and thusly, fun!

Drop on Monday and Tuesday nights and you will get The Templars after about 8 EST. We're clan for now.

We ran 4 matches last night and I guess we got lucky; we got:

1st Mixed group with a handful of ZMOM and pickups
2nd EVIL (ouch)
3rd FRR TS Hub Premade with about 5 pickups with them
4th What looked to be pure puggles

Yeah, if we had gotten EVIL all 4 matches I would be on tilt too, I feel you Naterist.

I choose lasers based on their color. Since I like everything to match, I usually run the green ones.
