If MW5's mission structure is at all like Battletechs, I'll be happy.

Battletech is a lot more RNG focused, so I really appreciate the not-quite-certain fog-of-war-uncertainty mission difficulty randomness. I think I'd like MW5 to have a more stable mission difficulty estimate.

But yeah, HBS Battletech has me very pleased right now!

Well that's just not smart business for them. The only reason to play MWO is to play against other people. If there's an alternative of their own making out there, it'll just kill MWO. I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to be okay with that.

Yea I was thinking the same thing. What I hope happens is Mechwarrior 5 is a success and the next version of Mechwarrior Online use the Unreal engine. As it is right now the Cry engine is holding the game back and I sure there is more PGI wants to do but just can't because of the Cry engine.

Well I remember during a Town Hall Russ seemed to overjoyed by how much easier it was to develop MW5 on Unreal versus their version of Cryengine. That might have a lot to do with their own reworking of the engine to make it do what they want in the early years, UI2.0?

I think it's going to hinge on beating HG in court and how well MW5 does. If they secure the future of the franchise free of HG lawsuits and turn a good profit on MW5. They might see it worth taking what they did with MW5 and building on it the features of MWO. But that still would require a lot of work from them.

we will see ...PGI has great dreams and less experience with Games ---thats whats break MWO the neck , and bring many experienced Member of the Crew to other Companys like Relic

and the supposedly bad Cryengine is a popular excuse among many others ... but Cryengine is not responsible for bad game design or bad designed FW or useless events and minimaps.

Each Engine has his own Problems and Fans and Haters Posted Image and brought many experience (seeing all the Treads over Problems with the Unreal Engine..https://www.gamedev.net/forums/topic/686102-what39s-your-biggest-problemsmissing-features-with-unity-or-unreal-engine/. )....for each thats working years with the Cry 3.0 SDK is the Cry SDK 5.2 with many new Tools and other UI a lot of new learning and its give many Devs thats bring very great results and swore of the Cryengine with the Cryengine ...seeing Hunt showdown or War of Rights.

Cryengine and Unreal Engine both Highend engines with great Features

and from what find a little small Devteam more ? guys with experience in the Cryengine or with a brandnew Engine and would a specialist with UE4 experience work for PGI or a big studio? a problem the PGI like other small team has always ... as well as the people's experience, they are switching to better ways, as well as many senior people have switched from PGI to Relic

I am playing Conan Exiles which was just released on the latest Unreal engine and it's very good at rendering extreme distance landscapes unlike earlier Unreal versions. So putting mechs into Unreal should work well at least for realistic environments. Anyhow, looking forward to MW5.

So I've just watched Russ give his demo on ray tracing in MW5 at GamesCon and it looked pretty darn impressive on the dude. But the bloody video cut short just before the hangar doors opened for the Shadow Hawk to walk in. Can we get the full video to check out the mechs?

kthnx

It's totally fine, that means we are getting more quality content!
and because they are reusing assets we are bound to get more goodies!

We also thought so when delaying the FW ... the fact was ... too many senior artists and programmers had leaved PGI and changed to other companys

Fallout New Vegas was made by Obsidian. If you look through the kinds of games they make. They're makers of old school style RPGs. Which is why New Vegas really improved on Fallout 3. Because they embraced the RPG aspect of Fallout. Then Bethesda screwed them over. And rather than follow Obsidian's example. They instead embraced gun mods, base building, that stupid dialogue wheel with meaningless dialogue. Furthermore they voiced the character you are supposed to be. Why the hell would I want to hear someone else's voice for my own character? :/

I don't expect that PGI will embrace RPG elements. They're clearly modeling the game after MW4: Mercenaries. So random missions, random maps, very little story. At least they're not trying to emulate other franchises or make it more mainstream. Supply drops, anyone?

To be fair: there weren't ever really RPG elements in the MechWarrior games that I played (Everything but GBL and MW2Mercs)
