The problem is the person in question makes statements on how he feels things should be done, and is blatantly anti-unit. He doesn't respond to logic, nor when his feelings on the hows or whats others should be doing is challenged, can he provide any reasonable reasoning beside that's what he thinks should be done.
However he does from time to time have some good stuff to say, and he is certainly knowledgeable about lore and other things.
It is all in the presentation however. If you come in like a boss and tell others how everything should be in absolutes, you'll find people put off by it.
So if you look back at his posts, he is one of the most argumentative folks around and that history more than whatever the current issue being discussed, is what people react to.
Personally I try to put that aside (with varying success) and try to listen to what he has to say, as not everything is out there or bad.
