but in general we don't speak as a group. We just speak.... the community sheet is close to then intent of what is being suggested...there needs to be balance as a diverse system … say we call it an ecosystem not just making the numbers all the same. I think high alpha clans with longer cooldown or duration achieve this balance....but I think they need to remove some of the restrictions on the clan assault allowing them to be the ninjas of the battlefield they should be....

dont mind clan mechs being more brittle but they need vast agility buffs to raise the skill ceiling and compensate via hitbox management.

Me too I’ve spent good money to support this game and will very likely spend again.

It’s not a PTS TESTING SESSION to COLLECT DATA that will change that.

The community cried for this PTS server to be able to test stuff and whatever changes PGI might think of and just for the sake of collecting data with some tweaking, random or not.


And you guys find a way to still complain BEFORE testing anything. You frggin magical gnomes.

Notwithstanding my rant:

ED would’ve fixed so many issues we still have right now because the « community » cried no...

These changes go from missing the target on the left side to missing the target on the right side.

A single clan gauss does not need to have recoil. Twin clan gauss recoil at MOST needs to be as tiny as the current recoil for single clan gauss.

The extended range large laser will now be in the same sorry state as it was a couple of years ago: duration will be too long, making 10% laser duration from skill tree an absolute necessity.

Same story with all of these lasers. Duration too long and needs to invest heavily into firepower tree, punishes clan omnimechs and makes them only work against the slowest of the slow mechs. For the love of all that is fair and sane, the clan medium pulse has a 95% LONGER duration than the inner sphere version!

Have you entirely forgotten why the clan weapons have the stats they have? Because locked equipment, frame upgrades and engines are a thing. Most clan omnimechs do not have the luxury of good mixed builds. Not that clans even have many respectable alternative weapons to begin with.

Stop being dense as a rock and buff the COUNTERS to lasers instead! Time to kill in 1v1 are already long. Its not the lasers fault someone is ignorant enough to walk infront of a firing squad.

The community asked for relevant changes.
Putting up a PTS to test things that the community resents isn't helping.

We are highlighting which changes are good and which are bad.

Also ED can burn in hell!!!!

A community trying for PTS server use does not justify Devs providing a completely misguided set of nerfs under the falsehood of "balance".

Honestly, I can't support these duration nerfs. I remember the 1.5 second C-ER Large Laser. It was very unwieldy to use.

There's a reason why I think the C- Large and Medium Pulse lasers are the only useful Clan lasers: they have the best combination of burn, damage and heat and all other Clan lasers are too hot, too weak, burn too long or a combo of the 3 to be useful, even on live.

The best solution to high laser alphas is to revert a lot of past nerfs an get a few buffs in too: brawl weapons, small-class lasers (across the board), Artemis spread, IS Medium Laser cooldown, agility, jump jets.

I was just playing MW4 Vengeance, and even that old game has speed penalties for high heat levels (among others). 80% heat, and the mech was only at ~50% speed. That's something I'd like to see.

I'd rather see PGI revert the increased ghost heat and mess around with heat capacity instead.
I'd rather see PGI revisit Energy Draw.

Once again, it’s a PTS, so I at least support the decision to try it and assess it rather than hit it with the nerf hammer, but I would love to see the actual numbers at the end it for transparency.

Out of curiosity, is that all the changes, or was it a spelling error in “note all changes are notated from pts 1.0”? Because if that’s all of them, then the ERLL ghost heat penalty is still 3, which is going to be pretty rough for those slower (and now less armoured) annihilators.

Well Navid A1 has already posted what I would on this topic in terms of value changes and the good. Many players went, yet again, out of their way (Navid, Taro, Yeonne etc) to post up detailed feedback from the PTS and most of it seems to have gone over the heads of the balancing team with these new values Posted Image

The other side of it is these balance changes even in PTS form are just so constantly wayward they are breaking my will to play or even really care. I mean look how many GOOD Players and Streamers have left the game the past few months. You've broken the will of many others. Lets look at some high level players that also streamed MWO just essentially had enough/stopped:

Solitud3
TwinkyOverlord
Bear_Claw (PGI Master Challenge)
Fragosaurus (PGI Master Challenge)
The_b33f (Always involved in Dev drops/crazy stunts and crazy antics videos)
Juju_shinobi

No doubt others I have missed as well and I know PGI are aware of this, otherwise there would not be a Streamer Round Table of sorts being discussed or whatever at the moment.

I'll give you the tip - they didn't leave because they were having fun. They are leaving because changes (even proposed one) like this. I mean you don't play a game for 5 years and suddenly get sick of it if you're still having fun... The attrition at the high end of the player base has been getting worse and worse the past 12 months, something really needs to be done.

Clan ERML compared to live gets lower damage AND longer duration AND shorter range. I get that the gun gave too much bang for only 1 ton, but this really feels like overkill.

I'm also going to take the time to laugh at you guys repeating the super long ERLL duration from the past (was once 1.65, you're only 0.05 short). Really chasing your tail here, Balancing Overlord™. Heavy lasers too, especially that HML (HML is very sadface now).

PTS of - Community Document / Balance Feedback. Feedback from 100s upon 1,000s of players.
Give the people what they want might just be the way to halt the attrition. Not upping cERL/cLPL to Ghost Heat 4 or duration that you lowered not that long ago becuase it was too much Posted Image

Also in that though you'd need to make it at least 8v8. Give some sizeable rewards for people who play it in their own time, get a lot of people on there and get some real numbers that 4v4 misses out on. I would absolutely be a part of that, I'd play 20+ matches without question.

We demand moar varients of Sliphnir with C-Large Pulse Laser Duration increased to 1.3 (from 1.9)
